I'm home alone right now and trying my hardest to scream. Which I was really good at as a kid, it was better than Fay Wray's.
But all I'm getting now is a raspy sound which isn't much louder than my talking voice. Yet I can yell loudly.
I think this may be due to having not screamed in years (and why would I need to?). Also doing voice acting on podcasts and such I've trained my vocal cords to make different sounds and voices. Nazgul, Predator, several different animals, boys voices (like Bart and Ben Tennyson) and Soundwave to name a few.

This is frustrating though. If I ever needed help I couldn't scream to get someone's atention.

But you can yell, so I'll rest easier tonight knowing you have at least one loud sound you could make to help you if you were being captured by a super-villain.

I can't scream either, or go high

I can yell loudly (very manly-sounding, too!), but I tend to be pretty mellow so I haven't done that for years.

Excluding the occasional "****!" when I trip over a cat.

I am capable of screaming loud enough, and at high enough pitches to cause some level of partial hearing loss.

I can't raise my voice at all. To me my voice is normal, but my normal speaking voice is a bit of a whisper/mumble to everyone else. When I try to yell people tell me my voice is just a bit louder than most people's is normally, yet to my own ears it's a full blown shout. I got used to being ignored in groups of more than three a while ago. It sucked as a kid because I never figured out that I was quiet until someone told me, until my middle school years I thought that everyone was literally ignoring me.

I'm kinda the opposite. My voice is loud (by default) unless I notice and control it. I'm sure I've unwittingly annoyed many people with my normal voice.

And as to the name of the topic, I too used to be able to do high-pitched things with my vocal cords that I simply can't do now.

Non-sense. In that event she'd just speed-dial me for help. I'll be listed as "CK".

Well it would be odd if people walked past my room and heard me making weird almost-screams.

Have you read the thread at all?

I don't really raise my voice much. Usually when I do it gets the point across because I can be pretty loud, but I prefer to avoid anything above a moderate mumble.

EDIT: My laugh is pretty loud though. It kind of resembles a maniacal cackle when I'm genuinely amused, though, so I don't mind. Usually convinces people to keep their distance.

Then shouldn't you know why she was attempting to scream, only to have her hopes dashed as nothing but a raspy wheeze escaped her chapped lips?

Wow. That whole last part of that sentence was completely unnecessary. I like it though. I'm going to leave it there, just to piss off the utilitarians.

Yeah, so do I, but what does that have to do with your lips?

    Oh wait... Um... Nevermind.

I can't scream either. :( It doesn't gel with my increased interest in the harsh noise music...

I can't scream either, best I can do is a sort of a...roar I guess it the best word to describe it.

I'm quite good a growling(the singing style) but anything above my normal tone of voice gets kind of cracked or wheezy

    And better than ever!

My mum told me that I'm always mumbling, so my talking voice is apparently not very clear either.
    ...Yes.
