While reading some Star Wars material today, I came across a mention of Borsk Fey'lya.

This got me thinking about the character, and I realised that I actually missed him! I believe that Borsk Fey'lya was the best Expanded Universe character, if not THE best including the films that I loved to hate.

He really was conniving, manipulative, self-centered and always grasping for power.

I actually miss Borsk Fey'lya MORE than I do Anakin Solo!

    Anyone else feel this way?

Can't say I do . . . His character, his very persona, is wily and opportunistic. A canny politican and manipulator.

Having attained the leadership, he went dead.

His lines were flat and dull; his character, as the series reached halfpoint, didn't show any of his rep that we know him as.

Dead or alive, it's the same to me . . .

    straight to the point stackpole. 8-}

But I agree with you Gath... up to missing him more than Anakin I was reading TTT and noticed him and was a bit sad that he wont be there in future to carry out his devious and self centered plots to gain control of what ever he can

He is the best political figure in the EU (and the films). He was a great caracter I did hate him and thats a very good thing for a caracter. Its better to be hated then just to be there.

As much as he is a man to hate ( or a Bothan to hate), he went out the way any person would want to go:

Up with about 25,000 Vong in a firestorm.

    'nuff said

HA HA HA HA HA HA etc....

The Bothan was a leach of the highest order with no regard for the Republic he stood for unless it suited his own interests

He reminded me alot of our current politicians (I'm British so US ones I'll ignore due to ignorance) who the majority of which should be lined up against a wall and have not nice things done to them till they start looking after their own populous

I always dislike Feyla and felt him to be an irritating, self gratulating divvy and to be honest I'm glad he's dead...

Borsk Fey'lya was the consumate politician, in the worst sense of the term.

A true politcian is a public servant, and someone who tries to get the job done.

While I think he is most responsible for the destruction of the New Republic, I must admitt I do miss him, if only from nostalgia.

He was one of the first character introduced in the EU. (HTTE)

Then again, being a huge Ackbar fan, I can't have that much love for the Bothan who tried to get him removed on charges of treason.....

In all, I miss him, yet still dislike him, even though I.....

    I've gone cross eyed. :)

Borsk was a pain in the buttocks (to say it nicely) for most of the characters and especially Jedi. Reasons enough to be hated. But reading him now in Rebirth and Star by Star with knowing he will die i feel kinda sad for him. In Rebirth he showed that there was something good in him after apologizing to Luke for the warrant and congratulating him for his son and asking for Mara.

He died in a nice way imo. I did forgot what his last words are. Anybody who can help me with this?

    I miss him.

The Gatherer said all of the things that were in my head before I thought of them to say them.

He was really great in the Thrawn trilogy as the love-to-hate politician, and his death was 100% in character for me. It was truly one of the highlights of SbS.

If he had actually taken out some Vong with his little trap, he might have had an honorable death.

I didn't really care about him as a character (I thought of him as kind of a cardboard stand-up until Rebirth), but Denning took him to the level and depth we saw from him under Zahn's pen. He was the enigmatic figure who was a good guy yet a bad guy.

He killed about 25000 Vong with his bomb. I'd say that's pretty honorable.

No amount of dead Vong can make up for the crimes Fey'lya commited against Gavin Darklighter and Asyr Sei'lar. [face_plain]

May Fey'lya burn in all the hells there ever were. [face_plain]

Borsk was a very cool character. He was smart, conniving, I want to know what would happen if he and Nom Anor met. I think Quantom explosions would happen...

It seems that Gath has hit a new level of weirdness, and is taking people with him, this time.

I loved how Borsk was depicted in SbS. When he decided to stay instead of leaving. He could of easily left and still been in control, but he realized what was best for the galaxy.

He was the character you were meant to really hate- Booster beating the crap out of Borsk is one of the most satisfying scenes to ever read in EU.

But, to paraphrase the Joker- "I'm glad he's dead!"

I was gonna ask you why you missed him, but you already mentioned it. As for me, I'm glad he's gone. For me it wasn't a case of a character I loved to hate. I loathed the character and couldn't stand him. Whenever I read about him in the various novels, I always wish I could enter the book and pull a Booster on him in every scene he's in.
