I predict "attack of the clones" will be the greatest movie of all time.!

I think the whole spirit behind this thread was that he had faith that this star wars would do better then others, not just based on what we've seen star wars movies do before...but based on the fact this one looks better then any we've seen in awhile...


PS. I bet my friend a year ago 5 bucks that ep2 would win best picture. I thought it would be funny...but who knows...

AOTC will make more money, thats because tickets now are more expensive then they were in 99 for TPM. my ticket for TPM was like $6.00 Now tickets are like 9 bucks. So thats a big factor! Gone with the wind is actually the biggest grossing movie ever. IT made 198,654,225. That may not sound much to you but in the 1930's tickets were probably only like a dollar. or even like 50 cents. I have a paper that says all the top grossing movies. But for top money maker, AOTC will do well. No one will ever beat Gone with the wind. A new hope is second with 431 million and also in the 70's tickts werent 6 dollars. Well there we go, se you guys klater. AOTC will be the best star wars, making it the best movie ever!

This first statement is way over the top! I demand another reasonable estimate!

Best Picture?? No way, not because of the "Academy bias" but because AOTC isn't that type of movie. If ESB wasn't nominated than I don't see AOTC being nominated. We'll just see technical nominations.

 

It can make $400 million in 2 weeks. Remember it will be released around the world at the same time. So it is possable.
I could care less if it wins any awards. As long as I'm entertained who cares what award people vote on.
This has all the makeings of a good/great movie. So I'm really looking forward to it.

 

I know some of you actually like episode 1 (I'm not one of them) and I respect your opinion.

But to say the academy robbed Lucas in '99? It was robbed of the fx award, nothing else.

A non fan would hate tpm for reasons like
a)The characters were very shallow.
b)Humor was badly misplaced
c)storyline dragged in places

Those are the basics, there are other reasons, but these parts will improve when the other episodes are released, and that is what I think will make episode 2 good.

Just wanted to share that I just finished the book and that I enjoyed every page. This movie has sooo much action and drama in it that people will be shocked by the rollercoaster ride they will recieve.

Can't wait to watch it on the big screen!

 

well i didn't read all the posts, actually i read the first 2 but i agree w/ the fact that it wont be the best, but it will be good.

 

Not Bias, come on they always overlook Comedy, Fantasy, and any catagrory not Drama. The Academy has lost their touch, if the MTV Movie Awards were on network television more people would watch it. It use to be the Academy that's it, now it MTV, Blockbuster, Peoples Choice, and etc. It still may be the most pretigous award but it never really captures the best films of the year. Just like the Grammy's the Oscers have lost beyond greatness status and has muddled down to a bunch of journalistic film buffs and pop actresses. Come on,
Annie Hall over Star Wars, I bet every new age director, actor(ress), Producer, and etc. Will site Star Wars as a big influence over Annie Hall.

 

You're right, Academy Awards certainly aren't everything. There's a lot of good movies that didn't win Oscars, and a bunch of crappy movies that did (Shakespeare in Love over Saving Private Ryan). The fact that Star Wars has been shut out completely is almost shameful. Few movies have had more impact than Star Wars.

 

I think awards are stupid. It is what we think that counts. there should be a big award where we vote. an award that actually matters!

 

i think they call it THE PEOPLE'S CHOISE AWARD.

 

I also think EP2 will be the greatest star wars yet.

 

Well, since expectations are WAY lower and many critics are expecting it to be a mediocre film, there's a chance it will surprise people and blow critics out of the water. If that happens, it could be viewed as a classic and get nominated for a few oscars maybe win a couple . . . but don't hold your breath.
