Beyond - Legends I, Tahiri Veila (post-FOTJ, Tahiri, Ben/Vestara, Antilles & Horn siblings) Chapter 15 11/9

Hi! Just wanted to drop by and say I do have intention of reading this still, I just don't have the time currently. Maybe of Christmas

 

I apologize for taking so long to post a new chapter, I've started a second job and it's really put my life and schedule into chaos.

Allana has been in a lot of trouble in canon, only felt natural to make her an even bigger troublemaker than the Solos kids because of that. I can only wonder how long the Nexu element will last though . . .

Sakana is an angry Padawan, though remember her pedigree, the Jensarrai are traditionally not the most pleasant people and we haven't explored her past that deeply. Emiya is a good judge of character though so we can only assume she is making the right call . . . or perhaps she apprenticed Sakana because Sakana doesn't bore her. {face_tongue]

It won't be good I'm afraid . . .

Anji is not looking too good right now. Poison is poison.

I really tried to get into Tahiri's head even more than usual. How would she truly feel about this situation? I hope her reactions and thoughts were realistic and in-character.

Chapter Fifteen

The amphistaff can be poisonous. Not all of the variations are. But some.

Some versions, or species, since the amphistaff is actually alive, merely stun or immobilize the one they strike. But other toxins can prove lethal to varying degrees. Sometimes what's an immobilizing toxin for one of our galaxy's species can prove lethal to another. In other words, something that just knocks a human unconscious may wind up killing a Klaatoinian. Or vice versa.

And whatever was in the toxin of the poisonous amphistaff is apparently lethal to a nexu.

Amelia frantically shakes Anji's body, tears beginning to brim from her eyes. "Anji! Anji! Come on, Anji! Get up! I know you can get up!"

Behind me, the battle's worsening. I can sense Sakana's stress beginning to transform into panic. The encampment is going to come down on us and Sakana is not strong enough to fight it by herself. She's going to need the help of her Master just to escape.

And there's no way we're going to be able to escape with Anji. The beast is dead weight and soon will be lost completely.

I can see Anji's eyes, dutifully looking towards her master in pleading alarm. Poor thing. Now I can see that this nexu, thought to be of a species considered impossible to fully tame, truly is a pet. Somehow Amelia was able to pull it off. I've never seen anyone so good with animals, not since Jacen when he was just a child.

I was wrong about Anji. And I was wrong to underestimate Amelia.

But I can't let Amelia sit here and futilely try to save Anji. I suspect that Emiya and Sakana probably brought along toxin cures, but there's no time to administer them, and often the cures can be as toxic as the poison they're meant to cure themselves. And I don't know what's the right cure for a nexu. Trial and error just won't work here.

Baljos is struggling to stand, and I can tell he'll be hopeless if the fight reaches us.

I look back. The pack of warriors is going to overwhelm Sakana. Emiya has to rush off and help her apprentice or neither of them is going to get out of here.

But for Emiya to do that, I need to leave. With everyone else.

There's no choice.

I run over and grab Baljos with my left hand, and then charge over to Amelia, who is still shaking Anji. I grab Amelia with my right hand and she cries out as I flip her over my shoulder.

"Tahiri! What are you doing?" Amelia wails.

"I'm protecting you!" I yell back.

"Anji! Don't take me away from Anji! I have to help her!" Amelia cries, and she's beginning to borderline-screech.

There's no time to answer Amelia. I turn towards Emiya. "Master Lottoson, get Sakana out of there! I'm taking everyone else and moving on ahead!"  "You sure? What about the nexu?" Emiya asks.

"Anji's gone," I reply. "Get Sakana out! Catch up to us further down the trail!"

"Good luck, Tahiri," Emiya says, and then she charges straight into the melee besieging her apprentice.

As for me, I turn around, and face the jungle, and I charge.

I can hear Amelia's heartbroken words and screams, begging me to turn around, begging me to help Anji, or to let Amelia try, Baljos try, anybody try. So Anji won't be left behind. So Anji won't die. Because Amelia doesn't want to lose Anji, abandon Anji, betray Anji.

A cruel part of me wonders why a pet is so damn important to this girl, when I've lost people who meant a great deal to me. What gives Amelia the right to cry and wail over a pet? But I understand why. She's a child. She doesn't deserve the pain of losing something she loves, including a pet. She's already an orphan. Losing Anji is probably just reminding her of the parents she's already lost.

Amelia loves her pet. And now she's never going to see her pet again.

Now she's in pain.

But I can't turn around. Not now. Not even with Amelia trying to struggle and squirm her way out of my grasp. I tighten and refuse to let go. I promised her, and promised myself, that she will return to Han and Leia Solo. They are not going to lose another chi

 

Good battle, there. Anji... So she tells Tahiri and a bit awkward, there.

Don't worry about DRL. Just glad to see more.

Hi! I finally caught up with my reading Rebel! Great story! I can't wait to see more! I love your Tahiri and Vestara! Tahiri is just great! this story alone is bringing back my love for the NJO era with all the Anakin/Tahiri talk! <3 I miss the good old days when that was my pairing!

just started reading this cause end of all light has slowed down but now im more interested in this story than yodakenobi's haha love anything with either anakin or tahiri in it (seeing as my first chapter book was golden globe wayyyyy back in 2nd grade ,1997,) and i absolutely love the way you write her

Well, I finally re-emerged and found this story again. Man, the memories.

Anyone interested in me continuing from where I left off? Please let me know. I did complete chapters 16 and 17 and can put 'em up if there's interest. I was a little under halfway through the story where I stopped writing.

Part of me thinks there's not much point as the events in Apocalypse make the story difficult to pass as canon (I did not expect Vestara to burn the Skywalker bridge the way she did). But if people enjoy it, I will continue it.

I also need to fix this thing as my chapters have been cut dramatically short for some reason. XD

I, for one, would certainly love to see this story continue. I wouldn't worry about Apocalypse. You wouldn't be the first to have your story turned into an AU by uncooperative canon authors.

 

That wasn't the main reason I stopped writing the fic, I just got kinda frustrated with the TFN temporary forums and needed to go elsewhere for a while (I visited both Gundam and Naruto, I wound up finishing my Naruto fanfic but it turned out to be a first of four fic series).

I was able to guess what happened in Ascension correctly but not Apocalypse. It's truly unfortunate, I wanted this to stick as a potential canon storyline.

In a lot of ways, I, Tahiri Veila is a prototype for both my Gundam and Naruto fanfiction, a lot of the same themes are tackled in my later work.

 

Hi! I would love to read it when the posts are fixed and onward, because frankly ff is canon to me I remember back in the day when you were part of this awesome, amazing 4-way collaboration. Collabs are fun to do, as I'm learning.

 

This fanfiction seems pretty far in but I will read this soon! And Allana is in it!

 

Oh yeah that collab was a lot of fun. Shame it fell apart. I'll try to fix it within a couple of days.

I've managed to re-upload chapters 1-4. Will do some more at a more godly hour.
