Could be close and doesn't really go against anything already out there in the movies and books etc. The novels starting with Aftermath actually give a lot of support to the story possibly being something like that.

 

I just wonder if Sheev ends up looking like this (long hair, trim beard, and wrinkled face, lol) - Ian was acting as one King Pellanor in a British series called "Britannia", in this photo...

 

I'm not sure if I'd prefer Sheev possessing a Kylo that's seeking out ancient Sith knowledge, or if they really do pull the Dark Empire 'he was planning his return all along!' thing.

 

I like your idea. Kylo joined the FO with good intentions.

Only thing that will disappoint me is if we don't see the emperor as we know him. Having anybody else play him in any way even with Ian's voice simply won't work for me.

 

Can't see any way Ben knew jack about Sheev prior to this movie, personally. It wouldn't add up with the whole temple shenanigans/Luke dynamic in TLJ, if he were in reality playing double-agent.

Unless it wasn't indeed Ben that killed the students, but they're not going to backflip on that at this point.

I doubt he would have told Kylo he was still around. If anyone figured out he was still around with the spirit stuff it was probably just Luke I would think. But then again the Imperial leadership before they were killed by him knew exactly who Snoke was though they didn't expect him to be taking power so maybe Leia and all them knew Snoke was Palps if that is what is going on and they just kept it from the audience.

 

I'm wondering how do they ultimately destroy Palpatine? If he's possessing bodies and they kill the body then what keeps him from just possessing someone else? In Harry Potter you have Voldemort's soul tied to Horcruxes and once they're destroyed he can be killed. Same with Sauron in LOTR. His soul is tied to the ring of power and once it's destroyed he's vanquished.

Could his survival somehow be related to Anakin? If Palpatine did create him perhaps the two are intrinsically connected and because Anakin's spirit survived after death so too did Palpatine's. Palpatine created the Chosen One and that's why only Anakin can bring balance to the Force. Because only he can vanquish Palpatine for good by making the ultimate sacrifice of giving up his eternal life.

Just a thought.

 

We may actually be in a situation where Palpy's return had always been planned. Snoke was just a more ominous looking version of Palpatine. It may have been intended for him to die in TLJ all along in order to bring back Palpatine in a twist in TROS. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Snoke living through TROS would be kind of pointless if he were just another Palpatine figure. BUT having Palps return in TROS is somewhat different because he's a whole different form, making it more difficult to defeat him once and for all.

 

If Palpatine is without a physical body, it'd be kinda cool if he was some sort of Sith lightning storm, flashes of his cackling face looming over Kylo and Rey as they duel... (not unlike what's on the poster)

 

That would be a twist on the Harry Potter chosen one prophecy. Instead of "for neither can live while the other survives," for Anakin and Palpatine, it would be, "For neither can die while the other survives."

 

I'm convinced that part of Palpatine's intention was that he wasn't going to return until both the destruction of the New Republic and the elimination of Luke. With both elements taken care of by the end of TLJ, now he can properly reemerge. Snoke either a separate character in league with Palpatine, or his literal avatar. His death in TLJ was "a necessary loss."

 

How will they destroy Palpy? Cross the streams!

 

Palpatine: Are you a Sith?
Rey: No.
Palpatine: Then die! *blasts her and Kylo with Force lightning*
Kylo: Rey, when someone asks if you're a Sith, you say yes!

 

I vote for changing the Plapy on the title to The Senate!

 

I mean... he's more Organa or Solo than "Skywalker" though, no? This seems to require a certain understanding of the importance of the name in real world culture for anyone in-universe to place any importance on Ben being part of the Skywalker lineage... or at least to the point of anyone in TGFFA defaulting to the idea of him being a Skywalker... At that point why not "Rise of Naberrie"?

 

It has been stated many times by the cast and people of Lucasfilm that Kylo is a Skywalker.

 

His mother is Leia, who's father is Anakin Skywalker. He is a Skywalker. Why is this confusing?

 

I mean he's related to the Skywalkers by blood but since his father is a Solo so is he. But this is all semantics and who really cares? How about that Palpatine?
