Dang, she looks just about perfect for Mara! How's she acting-wise?

Ok, I'll play. Joanne Whalley (Willow, Scarlett, Wolf Hall, Val Kilmer's ex). 50. Often seen as brunette, auburn or redhead. I think she'd be perfect.

I just think they're too young. Everhart's face looks like how I've pictured Mara. And she's a little closer to Mark in age.

Of course, younger actresses can be used for either spin-offs or flashback scenes, especially if Luke's wife isn't alive by the time of the ST.

Sure. But casting by looks alone is almost a sure path to failure. My hope is that Nina Gold is casting director for all GFFA films!

You're right. She just looks like Mara as I pictured her in my head. I was casting hypothetically. A good performance is definitely a requirement.

Posted early in this threads life. And many moons have passed since then, so I feel now is the right time to inform a new batch of members as to my choice..Sophie Marceau. :)

Everhart is 55 I think. She recently recovered from cancer not too long ago. She used to do some horror movies but lately has done Hallmark movies and Muppets Most Wanted. She is a pretty good actress and I still feel would fit the bill as a good Mara in her prime.

One of the pictures justifying my choice of her. She also does have a somewhat strong voice which is what you would expect being a Jedi and wife to Luke Skywalker. Resemblence is there... just saying..

Meh. I got tired of Leslie after D&D had her simply frowning throughout all of her scenes in Season 4 of GOT.

    Keri Rusell would be nice.

I like the Jessica Chastain suggestion. My personal choices are, of course:
    Anna Torv
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
    An uncanny resemblance, I think.
    Also plays older well:
Or for a younger, OT-era casting, Allison Scagliotti:
    [IMG][IMG]
Who has an appropriate deadpan sense of humor, a perfect smirk, and plenty of athletic chops for the role.
    [IMG][IMG]
I'll keep cheering for either of these.

I wouldn't mind Lucy Lawless as Luke's potential wife.

Can you blame her lol. Jon Snow just ditched her to return to the Night's Watch. The amount of time between Jon leaving and the Wall attack also had to be stretched longer on the show than in the book, so they probably had little for her to do in the mean time.

Anyways, this speculation is pointless cause if Luke ever had a wife in this new canon, she's totally dead by TFA. It'd be like speculating who should play Luke's mom after ESB. Like obviously she's dead..

Ygritte's time in Season 4 was essentially filler. D&D could have worked more on adapting the books as much as possible instead of changing stuff needlessly and putting stuff that's stupid and unnecessary (like the Grey Worm/Missandei rubbish). Why not just have a 13-episode Season 3 adaptation of A Storm of Swords if D&D are just going to make two seasons adapting the same book where they put in ridiculous nonsense like the crowd-surfing scene with Daenerys? Their added romance sub-plots with Shae and Talisa are some of the worst additions, which include bad acting on Sibel Kekili's part and all-around bad dialogue. Never mind the Ros filler scenes. Or that whole debacle with Gendry and Melisandre where for some reason she needs to tie him up and put a leech on his genitals (and to think that she could have simply used Stannis's guards to restrain him). Game of Thrones is padded and overrated. Shows like Hannibal, Black Sails, and Daredevil are much better and deserve more recognition.

As to your other comment, people here will continue to speculate about Luke's potential wife because, well, it's fun to do so and we have time to kill. Whether she's dead or not doesn't matter because said potential wife is someone that many here will want to know about. Even if we never see her in the ST, if she does exist, we might want to see her in a spin-off show set between Episodes VI and VII.

Pretty sure Mara Jade won't be in this movie.

Shannon McRandle could still pull it off..she is the most well known Mara Jade.

They could easily reveal her as a Inquisitor! She is old enough too

I hope that if Luke does have a wife, it's not Mara Jade.

The EU is not going to be drawn upon very heavily (maybe a few nods or thematic things), so I don't expect to even see a red-haired wife for Luke if he has one in the ST. That attribute is just too connected to Mara Jade.

TOTALLY forgot about Lawless and Whalley! Either one would be BRILLIANT! I wouldn't even mind if they weren't Mara!
