ForceHeretic - Okay maybe not a whole sector at once but certainly a couple of worlds. AAANNNNDDDDD He could do it with ONE bootless foot, TWO plotting Wraiths, and a partridge in a pear tree :)

Yes, Wedge Antilles Hero of the New Republic is my idol.Wedge and Co. have had plenty of practice conquering and pillaging... Coruscant, Thyferra, Borleias. Plus who cares about ART...it's rawther subjective <insert snooty Imperial accent> :)

Could Thrawn have been a clone in the Heir to Empire trilogy? Maybe Niraun wasn't the only place brewing a replacement Thrawn considering the Palpy's love of doing things in pairs. Death Star 1 & 2, Executor & Lusankya, Emperor's Hand Jade & Roganda, the 2 hunt and gather ships from Children of the Jedi...the list is endless.

The EU seems rather fond of cloning...Isard, Tierce, C'Baoth, Luke. It's like a bad soap opera evil twin storyline!

"Could Thrawn have been a clone in the Heir
    to Empire trilogy?"

Possibly, but I doubt it, unless the original was already dead or otherwise unable to take command following Bilbringi.

    "Emperor's Hand Jade & Roganda"

There were more than two hands.

"The EU seems rather fond of cloning...Isard, Tierce, C'Baoth, Luke. It's like a bad soap opera evil twin storyline!"

Eh, given the quality of its execution, I'm not complaining. Now if they were to dig up another Luke/Isard/C'baoth clone, then I'd be pissed, unless the story made it worthwhile.

JoruuusCbaoth - Because of the EUs fondness for cloning, I cringe when a new NJO novel comes out and pray they do NOT bring Anakin Solo back.

Thrawn was too omniscient to survive beyond a trilogy. His reasoning skill was too Hercule Poirot :) Even the Emperor was defeated eventually.

Ditto. I figure if they're going to do it, it'll be in TUF, but I'd prefer the dead stay dead. I didn't mind C'baoth, because we'd never seen Jorus to begin with. I didn't mind Luuke because he was killed off instantly. I even didn't mind Isard (much) because instead of taking the predictable clone/faked death route to take revenge on the heroes who killed her, Stackpole took both of them, and pitted them against each other.

I more or less agree. Thrawn (like Vader) was a villain who was bowed out before he became cheap and boring. It's like your favorite music group breaking up before they sell out.

Or before some half arsed author could target their filthy word processors on them...
    Gggrrr..
BTW, have you noticed that in all the EU material in which Thrawn actually really appears (discounting Tatooine Ghost, where I don't think he was even mentioned by name) Zahn always has a hand in the story (and will seem to be, with the upcoming Outbound Flight Project Trilogy) so maybe a clause in Zahn's contract said that he had to be in on stuff which involved our favorite, red eyed Grand Admiral.
Which, if you ask me, was a pretty good idea.
If the Thrawn at Bilbringi was indeed a clone......

    We read of interesting times.

I wouldn't be surprised if such a clause existed, even on a handshake level. Really, it's a bad idea to let other authors play with your characters in general. I don't hate Mara in the NJO, but I've not really been thrilled with anyone's portrayal of her besides Zahn/Stackpole. Talon Karrde was butchered even worse, the Karrde we saw in Edge of Victory was nothing like the one we knew in Hand of Thrawn.

Really, it's the same reason that the original cast has been mostly stagnant in the character development department, nobody wants to screw them up, so they all spout the same lines that they did on screen nearly a generation ago. Not to be a Zahn fanatic again, but the only time I've found Luke interesting since Last Command was in Hand of Thrawn, and now he's the emasculated "great Jedi" in the NJO, not by his wife, but by the editors. Han and Leia are stale since having kids, other than Han going on a drinking binge when Chewie died, and both of them being depressed when Anakin died, they've been cardboard.
