...how long do you wait before eating that type of food again? I threw up once after eating some pickles; never had another pickle for three years. Now I'm back on them and I LOVE them again.

Ugh...I've still never eaten Jelly Bellies or italian sausage after eating both while having the flu (different times, but same result). Ew.

I am not a picky eater at all... I love all cuisines. But I had some soup at a Thai restaurant once and it had a lot of Star Anise (a flowery thing that is used as a spice) in it, and I didn't know you weren't supposed to actually eat the "flower". It is so potent and it infiltrates all your taste buds and nasal cavity for hours with a liccorice-y type flavor. I wanted to vomit the entire time, but I never did. I LOVE [face_love] Thai food, but I haven't eaten it since because of that - and that was about 2 years ago. :(

As soon as I know it wasn't the food that made me sick and throw up, I will start eating that food again. If I smell squash cooking, it will almost make me throw up and probably would make me throw up if i don't leave the area. Eating squash will make me throw up.

I couldn't eat chips and salsa for a few years. It wasn't a conscious decision, just my brain saying "Don't eat that crap! It made you sick!" My brain talks to me a lot.

I love squash. Yellow and zucchini. Actually it's my favorite vegetable to cook because it's so versatile.

I used to have a problem with this. The technical term is "conditioned taste aversion". The funny thing is that it can happen when trying new things (like the indigestion my stepmom got when she tried sushi for the first and only time ever) or it can happen when eating things right before a bout of gastroenteritis.

I still don't love beef stew and have only just started to eat broccoli casserole again after throwing them up when I was a kid. I would feel kinda sick, even when eating things that were similar in texture, like anything with shreddy beef. One of my friends puked up black olives when she was ten and only just started eating those again.

The funny thing is that once I reached a certain age, I didn't associate the food with throwing up. I threw up twice right after I ate a bacon cheeseburger, and I had one today for lunch. :p Of course, there is that period shortly after being ill where you don't want to eat burgers for a while. I guess that's a lesser aversion.

With me it is butterscotch. I don't know what actually started it but to this day I can't even smell it without becoming nauseous.

So you never eat a food if you've vomited after eating it? One word of advise, never get pregnant! You'd starve!

EDIT: Just realised you're a male..... still... useful advise.

I ate a bunch of Cheddar Ruffles right at the onset of a nasty stomach bug. It took me about 5 years until I could eat potato chips again and a few more for flavored ones. But over 20 years later, I still get nauseous if I smell those vile Ruffles. [face_sick]

I wait until the smell of the food no longer make me feel ill.

Once I got sick off pizza. Boy did that suck[i/]! I couldn't eat it for about a year and a half.

campfire roasted marshmallows. I burned too many of them, and ate them anyways. I was sick and hurling charred sugar for hours. That was about 12-15 years ago. I still don't like marshmallows very much.

Artichokes. Had food poisoning once from a pizza that had them. Ugggh.

Miracle Whip. Ever since having a bad bout of the flu as a kid after eating some on a sandwich, I can't stomach it.

I don't know if this counts necessarily as food, but after a vodka and orange juice bender a few years ago, I couldn't even smell orange juice for about a year without wretching. [face_sick]

I had jello once when I was sick. It came back up soon after I ate it. It tasted just as good coming back up. If anything, it just reaffirmed my belief that jello tastes great.

I got sick on champagne on New Year's Eve and now every time I smell it, I sometimes get a stomach flop and I can't eat salad for the same reason..
