I'm getting ready to run a d20 star wars rpg and could use some advice aside from what I have posted

    Okay so here it is. For a little background for you it is for level 2 characters first level in a class other than jedi and the next in jedi.
    the campaign is set in the new republic, about 5-8
    years before the vong invade and will conclude at the end of the new jedi order book series.




    Possible Campaign Ideas (GM eyes only!!!)


    By the way the place the heroes are at is the yavin 4 jedi academy.

    Startup possiblities for PC relations

    1.The heroes do not know of each other yet and meet up with each other as they fufill their various tasks and quests for lightsaber parts.
    2.A small handful of the PCs know each other and the rest meet similiar as described above.
    3.Everyone knows each other.(Yeah, Right!!!!!)

    Lightsaber quest as in the search for the gem needed as well as the other parts needed.

    A crashed force adept from a previous decade who has been studying the sith lore in the surrounding jungle temples

    Calista is an orphan who was brought to the academy earlier than the PCs.
    She has adopted the consular's way and can use some skills of the force that
    others cannot. She will help the heroes when they need it, but, otherwise

    Waroo is a jedi in training from the planet of Kashyyk. He gets there

    Andre Hagan, a quiet, yet impulsive student. Unknown
    to all but Master Luke Skywalker, he is the prince to the
    Hagan Star Cluster, a place that is only rumored about in drunk spacer tales.
    His impulsiveness can get him in over his head however.
    His high force skills are do to a hidden power he has no control
    over yet. This power gives him a +4 misc bonus to all force skills.
    However he may overpower a test or something equally as bad by accident
    until he learns to control his power. He also has a twin sister. He also likes Calli

    For one of the lightsaber quests you could have them go to one of the abandoned Sith temples on the planet to retrieve a Corusca gem for their sabers. The hook being that the temple is haunted by another Sith spirit who wants to try and corrupt them to the darkside so he can take over their bodies. They won't realise he's there at first and can't understand why they suddenly have all these dark impulses.

    The corisca gem search is a good idea. I'm doing a very similar champaign of my own that started on Yavin 4, with Two corisca stone divers (brother and sister) working for Lando Calrisian. One of the hooks for story developement was that the PCs found a technique for getting an unusual though superior corisca stone from Yavin while diving along the trailing edges of major vortexes. The stone's quality and natural beauty were so apparent that it became the first of a new subcatagory of corisca gem, known as a Ticaris stone(named after the brother and sister's family name). The unique feature was that the stone was swirled in the gas giant's vortexes. This caused layering to take place which resulted in the inner most core of the ticaris stones to appear from a light rose color to a rich blood red from end to end (the stones tended to be elongated). Also the core was mostly made of chrystalized hydrogen which in turn was super conductive (this in turn was what cause the red appearance in coloration). Heat and light that enters in from the stone's periphery can easily be tapped into to cause a lasing effect. It also can be tapped into for Force adepts as a natural force channel or wand if you will. As for light saber use, it is very powerful! I wish you good creativity in your campaign. It's a good place to start for developing characters. I should imagine that you'll have your campaign's PCs built up enough to weather the Vong invasion when your game reaches that point. :)

    Have a plan, but be prepared to be flexible and run off on tangents.

    Expect the gamers to throw you off course of do things you'd never have thought of yourself.

    In my opinion, you are shooting for too long a time period. You're talking about 10 years game time there. A lot of things happen in the galaxy in that time frame, and you are going to have a lot of work ahead of you to incorporate it all. When I GMed my last campaign, a year didn't even pass in game time in a dozen adventures.

    I would suggest starting smaller, about the first 1-2 years, because the PCs actions are certainly going to take your plans off track in a larger time scale.

    Yeah, in short I was thinking about having something
    else happen as a major event set earlier than the vong
    and I think I'll give it more thought. Thanks to the rest of your comments as well I'm pretty sure I'll use them. I'll have more info on some of the adventure hooks I'll be using, but one of them might
    be the shadow academy attack as described in the young jedi knights series. but I've also created a hutt crime lord who is on the rise named draxil the hutt. see you tommorrow with the info.

    Make Draxil's influence subtle. Jabba was just begging to have some imperial ISD show up and fire turbo-lasers into his Palace and Townhouse. Truly successful crime bosses are no where near that ostentatious. They have "friends" who help them with their "business interests". The successful mobsters don't attract FBI attention. Capone was a big splash guy, and has FBI hounding him for years. Sure, the party may encounter flunkies and hitmen, even an accountant or two, but it should be a long time before they find Draxil himself.

    If your serious about having a shadow acadamy arc in your adventure, may I suggest as an extra interest the involvement of the Nightsisters who were being syphoned in from Dathomir as recruits for training as operatives. It should make for an interesting twist in your game. [face_devil]

    Thanks Magellan I like that Idea it would let me use periodically, say one mission here and another mission there. Of course with misions in between.
    I like your idea too vangarian, maybe I could could make a mission/adventure on that. Plus I could/should make a force adeptLv2/jedi guardian Lv2 as another basic enemy during the shadow academy attack because they did have some dathomir trainees.

    Another thing I'm trying to do is to think of (creative) things for the heroes to do on yavin 4 because they will be spending lots of time there.
    Of course I expect for the lightsaber stuff to help there but I was hoping for some help in this area.
    (of course there will be times when they will go offplanet for amounts of time)

    Yavin 4 is filled with lots of Massassi temples that your PCs can explore. Filled with traps, puzzles, dark side spirits...whatever you want.

    Yavin 4 has always been depicted as a jungle planet rich with life. Make up any sort of creature you want to throw at the PCs

    Also, remember that Yavin 4 is but a moon of a gas giant. There's some EU books that go into the other planets of the system, I think (someone help me out here). Maybe Master Skywalker would like the other planets in the system explored.

    Galaxy Guide #2: Yavin and Bespin, has details of the 12 moons of Yavin. 3 are habitable: 4,8, & 12 (if I remember correctly.
    You should be able to find that one on eBay.
