    Chapter One

Lost, so lost. She didn't know where to go.
Four year old Arnica pulled her cloak tighter around her. She looked around at the twilight underbelly of Coruscant, wishing for the upteenth time that she was back safe with her nanny droid in the park on the upper levels. Why hadn't she listened to her parents when they had siad to be careful. Now she was cold, hungry, and covered in grime from tripping and falling on the filthy streets. She finally collapsed in an alley next to a bar , a garish neon sign hanging from the dirty durasteel wall. She curled up next to a heap of garbage and cried.

A little while later Corrin Blackcheck walked out of the bar. He had just got back from a two week run selling the used parts he scravenged from the piles of junk on the streets. He was one of the best rifters on Coruscant. People from all over the under levels bought parts from him. He was single and lived in a small apartment about three blocks from the Splendor tavern, where he was now exiting.
His eyes traveled to the sound of muffled crying. He saw a crying little girl and walked over to her.
"There, there. what's wrong little girl?" He asked softly, kneeling next to the trembling child.
She momentarily stopped her crying and shrank back into the heap.
"I'm lost. I can't find my mommy and daddy! She answered tears spilling from her emrald green eyes.
Corrin sat back on his heels and looked around. Dispite the dirt and mud on her dress, he could tell she was from the upper levels. She must have gotten separated from her parents and wondered down to the under levels. He turned back to the little girl and smiled at her.
    "What's your name?" He asked.
The little girl looked at Corrin with a mixture of fear and cusiosity.
    "Arnica."
    "How old are you?"
    "Four."
Arnica stood up and Corrin saw she was holding a small stuffed tauntaun.
"Who"s that? He asked, pointing to the toy.
"This is Maggie. She's mine and no one can take her" Arnica answered, her chin sticking out defiantly.
"You must be hungry. Do you want something to eat?"
She nodded her head yes. Corrin stood up and looked around. He didn't want to take her into the tavern but he had no food with him. He decided to take her back to his apartment and get her something to eat and get her cleaned up. Then he'd work on trying to find her parents.
"Come here. Lets go get you something to eat." He said and started walking.
He was startled when he felt a tiny hand slip into his. He looked down and saw her holding tightly to hand. He just smiled and kept walking.

    Four years later

9 year old Anakin Skywalker looked around the Coruscant underbelly with both awe and curiosity. He glanced up at his soon to be master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, wondering what was so importent that he had pulled Anakin out of his lightsaber class. Not that he minded much, he had been at the temple for less then a year and he was already far ahead of his peers.
"Master Obi-wan. What's so importent that we had to rush down here imeadiatly?" Anakin asked survaying his surroundings. In a way it reminded him of his home on Tattooine, except here the only light came from the flickering bulbs hanging off the buildings. That and it was cold. He was used to hot dry weather, and he was still having trouble adjusting to the cooler tepatures of Coruscant.
"You must have paitence, Anakin." Obi-wan said gently.
That was one thing Anakin was sure he would never learn. Why did he have to wait forever for someone to tell him something. Why didn't they just say it and be done with it.
"There have been reports of a humanoid being running around with a lightsaber somewhere around here."
Anakin looked up in suprise. That was why they

Thanks for reading! I'm going to try to post one part every two days.
This is the first fanfiction I've ever written, so I'm still trying to get a hang of it. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Also any tips for the story are much appreciated. I have the beginning and the end stories, but I still need some middle stories.

Also I forgot the all important DISCLAIMER:
I don't own Star Wars or any of the characters(even though I wish I did). They all belong to George Lucas.

She was glowering at them with emrald eyes that seemed to glow even in the dark street.

    Ooohh very intriguing!

I'm glad the Jedi found out about her, though I hope this confrontation won't end in anyone's demise.

If you have a PM list for this, please add me

    Looking forward to more

I'm not sure what a Pm list is. I'm still getting used to the forum. Once I figure it out though, I'll put you on it.

I'm glad you like the story. I'll be putting the second part up sometime today hopefully.

Well here's the next part. But first I have a few notes about this story:
1-In this story, the Jedi allow marriage.
2-I have plans to do a sequel to this that's set during the clone wars. Weather or not I do it depends on the amount of time I have, how well thins one goes, and weather I'm still interested at the end.
3-Sorry if there are any misspelled words. The word processor I use doesn't know what spell check is.[face_skull]
4-In my story, rifters are people who find used parts and sell them.

So enough of my babbling. Here's the second part of the first chapter.
"What's your name young one?" Obi-wan lowered his glowstick to the girl's face.
She just stared at them with eyes of cold defiance. She crossed her arms as she answered.
    "Arnica."
    "How old are you?"
"Do you really need to know that?"
"Where do you live?" Obi-wan was beginning to lose paicense with this young girl.
Her eye's traveled down to Obi-wan waist.
"Your a Jedi. Corrin siad you'd be coming for me."
    Obi-wan looked around confused
    "Who is Corrin?"
    "He's my friend."
The little girl's posture seemed to relax. Obi-wan streached out to the force. He didn't feel any darkness coming off her. He dove a little deeper.
He recoiled at the strength of her force preacence. She was definetly force-sensative.
He stood up and ran a hand through his hair. He was having a crisis of consiuse. He knew the girl should be trained to be a jedi, but she couldn't be younger than seven. Most children at the temple stated training by the age of two. Anakin was the only child to ever be accepted past the age of three.
Finally he decided to take the chance and take her to the temple.
He turned back to the girl and found her talking to Anakin.
"Where do you live?" Arnica asked still eyeing his lightsaber.
"I live in the Jedi Temple. I'm training there."
    "Is that your lightsaber?"
"Uh huh. They gave it to me when I came to the temple. It's just a training lightsaber, but I get to make a real one when I become a padawan." Anakin answered proudly.
Obi-wan knelt in front of the girl again.
"Arnica. Would you like to visit the Temple?"
    Arnica nodded her head.
"Okay. I'll take you to the Temple, but you have to answer a question for me."
    Arnica crossed her arms again.
"Okay. But can I go say goodbye to Corrin?"
"Okay. Just answer this question: Where did you get that lighsaber?"
    "I found it while rifting."
Obi-wan saw nothing but truthfulness in her eyes. He stood up and took the girl's hand.
"Let's go say goodbye to your friend. Then you can go to the Temple."
She held tight to his hand as she lead them down the dim streets. They stopped next to an old apartment building. She pulled them inside a dingy apartment. Everything was covered with old parts and pieces of just about anything you could imagine. Sitting on the floor was a man covered with grease, it looked like he was trying to fix.
"Corrin!" Arnica cried out as she hugged the man, getting even dirtier, if that was possible.
"Hey kiddo! What you been up to?" The man asked, ruffling Arnica's hair
"I met some Jedi! They want me to go to the Temple!"
Corrin looked up as he noticed the Jedi for the first time. He stood up and introduced himself.
"I'm Corrin Blackcheck. You must the jedi Arnica met."
    I offered a hand which Obi-wan shook.
"I'm Obi-wan Kenobi. This is Anakin Skywalker, he's a student at the Temple."
    Obi-wan turned to Anakin.
"Why don't you and Arnica go find something to do while Mr. Blackcheck and I talk?"
Arnica grabed Anakins hand and pulled him into want must have been her bedroom. Obi-wan turned back to Corrin.
    'Mr. Blackcheck-"
    "Please, call me Corrin."
"Corrin, I believe that your daughter is force senseative. If you allow me, I'd like to take her to the Temple and have her tested. If she passes she could start training to be a Jedi."
Corrin walked over to the small table and sat down. He ran a hand through his hair.
"Arnica isn't my daughter. I found her when she was four. She had gotten separated from her parents and wandered down here. I tried to find her parents but I couldn't. I took her in and raised

Here's the next chapter! As I promised, there's more humor in this one.

NOTES: They never really describe the Jedi quarters so pretty much everything here is just what I imagined it would be like.

    Jedi Temple

Arnica's eyes kept getting wider as she looked around the temple. This place just kept getting bigger and bigger! It was so huge she wasn't sure she'd ever be able to find her way around. She glanced over at Anakin. The little boy didn't seem to be amazed by the general hugness of his home.
Anakin looked over at Arnica and smiled. Her already wide eyes looked like they were the only thing on her face. Excitment was coming off her in waves. He had felt the smae way when he first came to the Temple. It had been so Huge compared to the tiny slave hovel he and his mother and lived in. They stepped into the turbolift and made there way up to the Jedi high council. Anakin always got a little nervous when they went before the council. He tried to sense Arnica's feeling like his teachers had tought him. He was suprised to find only curiosity and uncertianty. But then agian she had never met the council before. Arnica stepped over to him and whispered "What kind of classes do you take?"
"Most of the new students take beginning lightsaber combat, history, language, and meditation."
She nodded and stepped back over to her spot on the other side of Master Obi-wan.
The doors opened and they took their places in the middle of the large council room.
"News of an force-sensitive child, have you, Obi-wan?" Master Yoda asked. Arnica stared at him. She couldn't help it. He looked so cute! Arnica wanted to go over and just hug him! As if he could hear her thoughts, Obi-wan put a hand on her shoulders.
"This is Arnica. She was the one who had the lightsaber that we have been getting reports on. She said she found it in a garbage pile. And yes, she's force sensative. Her caregiver said that she was seperated from her parents when she was a small child. He raised her after that."
Mace Windu stood up and walked over to Arnica.
    "I'm Master Mace Windu."
Arnica cocked her head and stared at Master Windu.
"You're older looking then on the Holonews. You have more wrinkles. And you're shorter."
Obi-wan stifflled a groan. This was not going to be good.
Mace stood up and walked back to his seat. Probably to hide his blushing face. Who knew an eight year old girl could make Mace Windu blush.
Master Plo Koon stood up and said "Youngling Anakin, Arnica, please wait outside. We need to talk to Knight Kenobi."
Anakin led Arnica outside before she could comment on Master Koon's face mask.
"You're in so much trouble Arnica! You insulted Master Windu!"
"I didn't insult him. I told the truth. Corrin said to always tell the truth except when it could get you killed or your playing sabacc."
She crossed her arms and sat on the cool stone floor. It was silent for a while. Suddenly, Arnica stood up and walked over to where Anakin was standing.
    "Marry me." She demanded.
Anakin twirled around, shock evident on his face.
    "What! I can't marry you!"
    "Why not!"
"We're to young! Obi-wan wouldn't be happy with me if I got married!"
"We're not to young! I'm eight years old. And I'm going to be a Jedi!"
"Why do you want to get married anyway?"
"Corrin said that when you get married you get to move into a big house with lots of rooms, and that your feet never get cold at night!"
Anakin just groaned and slid down the stone wall to a sitting position.
Arnica walked back to the other side of the room. She decided that Anakin had suddenly been over come with a toothache.

"Obi-wan, she's to old to train. We made a huge exception when we let Anakin train."
"Master Windu, She has no connections. No anger. She is perfect to train."
"What about her caregiver. She must have some kind of attachment to him."
"When she left she barely cried. I believe she would be a good Jedi trainee."
Master Yoda had been watching Mace and Obi-wan for the past ten minutes. He finally spoke up "Train the girl, we should. Danger, she is not."
Master Windu looked around the room and sat back do

Arnica thanked him and turned to Anakin. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek.
"I'm gonna marry you Anakin Skywalker. And there's nothing you can do about it!"
She then turned quickly and walked into her new room, leaving a speechless Anakin and a confused Obi-wan in the hallway.

Okay here's the next part. I wrote this at ten last night so it's a little bit short. Just a small part about Arnica meeting Anakin's friends and her experience in History class. Sorry It's a little short.

NOTE-I know Nahdar was not one of Anakin's friends but I need him to be for a later story.

Arnica walked into her new room. It was larger then her room at Corrin's. There was a small sleep couch on the facing the east, so she could wake up with the sun. To the left of the room was a small table and chairs, just the rights hight for her. A soft rug covered the middle of the floor, right in the middle of the beams of sunlight that came through the eastern window. She dropped her bag on the floor and walked over to the large window. The sun was setting over the tall buildings. She loved the sun. They saw it so rarely in the underlevels, that she couldn't help but bask in it when ever she could.
She went back to the door and picked up her dropped bag. Walking over to the chest at the end of the couch, she knelt and ran her hand over the smooth top. Opening it up, she stuffed her few clothes in it.
She took out Maggie and put her on the couch, and dropped the old datapad on the table.
Arnica's eyes traveled around the room until they fell on the towel and clothes. She picked them up, and walked towered the refresher.

The next day Arnica woke up to incesent pounding on her door. She rolled out of the bed and padded, barefoot, to the door. She opened it up to a impaient Anakin.
"Hurry up Arnica. We're going to be late for brekfast!"
Arnica stood in the door in her nightgown and sleep pants, still rubbing sleep from her eyes.
"Okay, okay. hold your rancors. Just let me get dressed."
She closed the door and threw on her new jedi clothes. They were soft and warm, like a big blanket. She braided her hair, threw her blankets on the couch, and ran to the door. She and Anakin walked to the turbolift and went up to the mess hall. The mess hall was a large stone room filled with large tables of laughing students. Arnica fallowed Anakin to the food line. The food looked good, she picked out a blumfruit muffin and a piece of byss cheese. She got up her plate and fallowed Anakin over to a table half filled with other people their age. They stopped talking and stared at her. She stared back.
"Hey Anakin! Who's your friend?" A young girl asked. She had golden brown hair and rust colored eyes that stared at Arnica with quiet curiosity..
Anakin walked over to a young boy and sat down. "This is Arnica. She's new to the temple."
"Hi!" They all cried. The young girl looked up at Arnica with happy eyes.
"Finally! Another girl! Now I don't have to put up with all these stupid boys." She shot Anakin and the other two boys a look. "I'm Darra. You can sit with me."
Arnica sat down and looked at the boys next to Anakin.
"I'm Tru." One of the boys volunteered. "And this is Nahdar."
Nahdar looked up from his food and waved a webbed hand. Arnica had seen many aliens before but she had never met one like Nahdar.
"What are you?" She blurted out.
    "I'm a Mon Calamari."
"Cool, so you can swim really well?"
    "Yeah. Can you swim?"
"Nah, there aren't any pools where I lived."
The rest of the meal of full of gossip about Yoda, debates about the best lightsaber fighter, and groaning about the test in language class today.

After breakfast Arnica walked with Anakin, Tru, Nahdar, and Darra to the first class of the day: History.
They walked into the large open classroom. It, like almost all the rooms in the Temple, was made out of stone. There was a huge Holotimeline in the middle of the room, small cushions on the floor to sit on, and holos all around the room of important events. They took a seat on some of the cushions and turned their attention to the Jedi Master who walked in the room and stood in front of the timeline.
"Good morning Master Mundi." All the student echoed.
"Good morning Younglings. I was informed we have a new student. Would you come up and introduce yourself?" He asked, his eyes resting on Arnica.
She got up and walked over beside Maste

Yeah, I made Arnica like this because she knows what's right and wrong. She doesn't say something's okay when she knows it's not. Padme always tries to justify Anakin's actions, Arnica doesn't do that.

Sorry it's been so long. I've been busy with anything and everything you can imagine, That and I couldn't find the right way to introduce a older Arnica. I finally figured it out. Sorry the post is so short. I should have some more up tonight! Read and enjoy!

Over the next four years, Arnica became accustomed to life at the Temple. She reached the head of all her classes, even passing Anakin in beginning lightsaber training. She also made friends, after she learned that there were somethings that didn't have to be said. Ten year old Ferus Olin, joined their small group after Arnica beat him in a lightsaber duel. He was known as the goody two shoes amongst the younglings. Arnica imediately set out trying to corrupt him. Eventually everyone became Padawans and moved up to quarters with their masters. Everyone except Arnica. Since she was the youngest she haddent been selected as a Padawan yet, and she douted anyone would. She was known for her headstrong attitude and lightsaber skills. Not something most Masters wanted to put up with

"Arni! Wait up!" shouted a thirteen year old Anakin. He, Tru, Ferus, and Darra were running down the Temple halls, trying to keep up with the sprinting Arnica.
"No! Ani, you've got to hurry if we're gonna put this Corellian itching powder in Master Fisto's tunic. He'll be scratching into next week!"
Anakin just shook his head and ran faster. He looked around and extended his senses, trying to see is anyone was coming. He was going to kill Arnica if they got cought for this. Ever since she had come to the Temple, they had become inseperable friends. He had also made good friends with the halls they had to scrub when they cought after Arnica's crazy schemes. "Do I even want to know where you got that itching powder?"
"I have contacts!" She answered slowing down and stopping by a door. "276. I think this is his room."
They all crowded around the door while Arnica reprogramed the lock to let them in. They were so busy that they didn't here the soft footsteps that
"Well, well what do we have here?" A rough female voice asked.
