[Guarding-the-halls-of-Sothic-truths] is the Mighty Child of the Temple Sector. They inhabit the birthing tunnels beneath the Empress's ziggurat and is usually the second thing a new Child sees after the Deathless Midwife. They have been mentor to dozens of Mighty Children.

As the Mighty Child of the Temple, they are a frequent contact between the Deathless Sorcerers and the Empress. They also oversee the (largely ornamental) honour guard and occasionally lead them in patrols and oppose them in mock battles.

In the Strange Aeon the dark god Cyaegha is freed of its prison under Dark Hill. It is still bound to its guardian-jailers, the Vaeyen, and cannot wander far from their standing stones.

The Vaeyen are demons summoned in ancient times by the cult of Cyaegha to bind their god and aid in drawing on its power. They are Green Moon, White Flame Darker Than Night, The Winged Woman, Pallid Shadow More Red Than Fire and The Black Light.

Anyone played the new game Ghost of Tsushima?
You would be playing a samurai fighting against the Mongol invasion of the 14th century.
Here i painted the ancestors of those very same Mongols for my worldbuildong, the Khitan.
While still being a deadly and formidably foe in the 9th century they are yet to become the force of nature brought forth by the legacy of Genghis Khan centuries later.

Did you know the Slav tribes and a coalition of Viking mercenaries formed the beginnings of Ukraine and Russia?

This is a character I painted for my worldbuilding, a Slavic Severian warrior. I took inspiration from cossack attire, as well as traditional Slavic regalia.

The Severians are a warlike people, with strong but turbulent ties to family and honour. They became fiercely loyal to the Viking Rus after the latter offered them a chance to grow stronger. Over time the two cultures intermingled, becoming all but indistinguishable.

This is the Verdani, the King of the forest. He subdues the flora and fauna to his every whim, shaping his kingdom to his every desire.

The mass structure of a once great space faring ship that brought the first colonists, now a rustic metal mountain in it's watery grave. Rich pickings for the metal scavengers who hover like vultures high above the structure.

Far off to the right a port built along the shoreline of the derelict ship, teaming with metal merchants and a life of trading commerce. In the foreground young colonists jump bravely over the precarious corroded structures of

a broken down ancient ship hull, a similar demise to that of the ship in the background.

Code Name: The Abyss

Real Name: Dagat Ocampo (lives in the Philippines, but was born in an undersea civilization)

Group Affiliation: Global Guardians

Race: The Ocean dwellers



Powers:

Abyss is able to mentally control water. He can make it as solid as ice and with great effort he can make his water constructs maintain their shape permanently. He is able to withstand great levels of water pressure, which gives him increased durability and a strength level of peak human to 10 ton. As with all of his people, he is able to communicate with higher cognitive sea life (such as dolphins and whales) because he has learned their language (Not by telepathy). His eyes are able to adjust to see in the darkest regions of the sea. All of the people in the Abyss’s race have the same powers, however the Abyss’s abilities are much greater, due to his unique bloodline.



Limitations:

When emerging from great depths he must give a brief amount of time for his eyes and body to adjust to the differences in pressure and light. He can survive out of water, but he weaken to peak human standards the longer he is away from water.



Weapons/Paraphernalia:

His costume contains a circulating water system.



Origin:

Back in the days of Greek and Roman myths, a small village, seeking to avoid the ravages of war, prayed to their ruling God Poseidon (the god of the sea) to guide and protect them. Poseidon arose from the sea and offered to give them a new way of living. If they were to accept his offer their new home would be deep beneath the greatest of ocean depths.

With the villager’s acceptance, Poseidon changed and evolved the villagers so that they could survive and withstand the dangers that were within the sea. Their changes were numerous. Poseidon chose to make his followers amphibious so that they could return to land if they ever wished. Their lifespan increased to 3 to 4 times the average human’s. They can communicate telepathically within their own race when they are within close proximity, however they developed speech patterns toward sign language and sounds much like the sounds heard from dolphins, whales, and other sea mammals (as a result Dagat’s people can communicate with higher cognitive marine life forms). Their Skin took on a blue-gray hue. Their eyes are black instead of white (but their cortex variety still included normal human variations) and they were now capable of seeing even in extreme darkness. And as a method of defense from other sea life, Poseidon gave his followers the ability to control water within a general area of their personal space.



For centuries Poseidon lived among his followers to help them adjust and to help them build their underwater kingdom. At first he was their king. Later on he stepped back as merely an advisor. But eventually, he felt that the civilization was strong and wise enough to live on its own. He left, only to return on occasion to see how the civilization had progressed.

Dagat’s race grew and flourished. Although the race was amphibious, few ever wished to visit the surface world. They had achieved total peace and developed a utopian society. Due to this there was little desire where the surface world was concerned. The civilization has no ruler. Instead it has a revolving council. Every individual works for the good of the group collective.

On one fateful visit back to the kingdom that he founded, Poseidon feel in love with one of the citizens of the civilization that he had founded. He wished to rejoin with his former followers, but as an equal and not as their god. Despite the protests of his fellow gods, Poseidon renounced his godhood and became one with his people. Other than his new wife, no one knew that Poseidon (in his altered appearance) was anything but an ordinary member of the civilization. The descendants of Poseidon and his chosen bride have always showed a greater ability to use the gifts that were originally given to the entire race. Some descendants had completely unique abilities. For instance, Abyss’s mother could utilize any water to observe and/or communicate with others anywhere in the world. The Abyss is the latest in the line and has greater control in his ability to control water than any of the civilization has ever shown.

Not knowing the secret of his lineage, Dagat grew up the same as any other child of the civilization did. It was not in his bloodline that his fate was destined to be different from all others in the civilization. Instead, his fate was shaped from his childhood curiosity. As a young boy, he and his friends happened upon a wrecked ship. They took some of the items from the ship to one of their elders. The elder told the children of the few stories that remained from the time before the race moved to the sea. The other children quickly lost interest, but Dagat was so intrigued that he sought out more knowledge from ancient texts. Not satisfied, he began to make trips to the surface. Ever broadening his search range he began to see ships, uninhabited islands, and eventually an inhabited island. From a safe distance he would watch and study the natives of the small Philippine island.



Within a few years after WWII had ended, one native in particular caught Dagat’s attention. Every day a young woman named Rea would come out to swim in a secluded bay. It was a secret place where only she would come. Although Dagat wanted to know more about her, he always maintained a safe distance to remain unseen. If not for a fateful moment he may not have ever broken the distance between them. As she had done many times before, Rea was climbing up a cliff to dive from. Only on this day a loose stone caused her to slip and sent her plummeting down toward the rocks below. Out of instinct, Dagat used his powers to propel him upward in time to catch her. Upon coming back down safely into relatively shallow water, Rea started to run away. Desperate to keep her from leaving, Dagat shouted one of the few words that he was able to learn from observing distance. He shouted, “hello” (in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines). Such a simple word, but it worked. Rea stopped and turned toward Dagat. He was unlike anything she had ever seen. Slowly she approached him. She looked into his eyes and knew that he wished her no harm.

Rea continued to come to her secret place and each day Dagat would be there. Rea realized upon their first meeting that Dagat did not truly understand her language. It was on their first meeting that Rea gave him the name that he uses to this day (Dagat is Tagalog for the sea). Each day Rea taught him more about her language, customs, and the surface world.



Quickly Rea and Dagat fell in love. When Rea initially introduced Dagat to family they were shunned due to his unhuman appearance. They chose to live in seclusion and built a home in their beloved cavern hideaway. Perhaps the two would have lived that way until the end, but fate intervened again. Dagat was fishing one day when he sensed an oncoming tsunami. He had enough time to warn Rea and they rushed to her village. As the wave came into sight Rea and Dagat were able to gather the majority of the village into one area. With all his effort, Dagat was able to create a water barrier strong enough to shield the villagers. As the danger subsided, Dagat collapsed from the effort. The villagers saw the damage around them and the loss of life of those who refused Dagat’s aid. They realized how foolish they had been and then accepted him into the community. After the village was rebuilt and the dead had been mourned Dagat and Rea were married with everyone’s blessing. Over time, Abyss became a celebrated protector of the Pacific islands.

A biproduct of Dagat and Rea’s union is that their continued physical contact gave her gifts as well. Her aging slowed vastly (she has not aged anymore than Dagat and they now live in modern times) and she can communicate telepathically with Dagat and their children whenever she comes into physical contact with them.

Dagat and Rea have three children. Due to their hybrid nature their skin tone is more greyish (Much like a dolphin’s). They their father’s natural ability to control water, but to a lesser extent than Dagat. However, they are also gifted with their own unique abilities. The eldest (Buwan, which means Moon in Visayan) goes by the codename Riptide. Riptide has the strength range of 30 tons and has increased durability (bullet proof). Their second son Danilo (God is my judge; Tagalog version of Daniel) goes by the codename of H2O and is able to transform his body into sentient water. Their youngest and only daughter is named Stream. She has the power to telepathically communicate with any person or creature as long as they are both touching the same water. The sons are both local heroes in the Philippines. Stream is a student in college and enjoys working in humanitarian programs.

In one of Abyss’s adventures he met another hero known as Starborn. Star-Born asked The Abyss to join him in his league of Global Guardians. The Abyss accepted and the rest is history.
