Yeah it's time for another extra in the Spider-Man project. This one's not big on story content, but it is an important part of Peter's life that has to be told.

    ----

It was a time of great change in Peter Parker's life. Semi retired as Spider-Man and now a full time science teacher at Midtown High, Peter and MJ were now looking to their own futures and what this new lease on life for them meant. Autumn had come to New York and Peter had news he needed to tell Aunt May. But before he could, he got the call--May had a heart attack, and was now in the hospital.

Rushing to her side, Peter immediately began apologizing to his aunt, who just assured him that it had nothing to do with the blood transfusion incident all those years back--the women in the Reilly family had heart issues for generations. The doctors recommended that May stay in the hospital for the next few weeks for observations, but May herself refused. She knew her time was up, and she wanted to go on her own terms. Despite Peter's pleas, she left to go home to her apartment.

Over the next week, Peter, MJ, and Gwen all looked after her as she rested. Anna May Watson, Aunt May's closest friend, even traveled back to the city from Florida to stay with her. At the end of the week, May had enough energy to leave her apartment, and insisted on bringing Peter, MJ, and Gwen to the old homeless shelter where she used to work. There, she revealed that it now had a new name--the Ben Reilly Shelter, named after the name she had given Peter's ill fated clone. May revealed that she had used the money Peter had sent her while he was working as a government backed superhero to buy the shelter from Fisk's old holding company and had given it to new and better owners.

She had one other thing to share with them, and took the three of them to the Flatiron building, the former headquarters of the Daily Bugle before Robertson moved them to another location. In the lobby she showed them a statue that the she and J Jonah Jameson had paid to have built of Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, and the Scarlet Spider, in honor of the heroes who had looked after and protected the downtrodden.

Peter and MJ had something to share with May but had been waiting until the time was right, but May said she already knew, and told them congratulations--she could tell that MJ was pregnant. Asked how she knew, she said it was a special intuition. She said her only regret would not being around to see the child born. Peter told her she was speaking nonsense, she was clearly on the mend. But on the way home, May started to feel weak again and collapsed in the doorway of her apartment. They took her to her bed, and Peter, MJ, Gwen, and Anna all sat by her side as she passed away.

May Parker was buried in a plot next to her husband Ben, right next to the graves of Jessica Drew and Ben Reilly.

    ----

So it's not a happy story, but it is a time of great change in the Parkers' lives. Aunt May passes away and Mary Jane is now pregnant. Old life gives way to new.

The story here is based directly off of the story from Amazing Spider-Man #400, the original story of Aunt May's death before it was retconned into oblivion a few years later. It was a beautiful story prior to being ruined by the retcon and I knew it was what I wanted Aunt May's death to be based on. So that's what I got.

For the picture I don't know if it's anything special, it's basically what you'd expect from a story like this--Peter, MJ, Gwen, and Anna all at the funeral or something. It was an opportunity to show Peter, MJ, and Gwen looking different than before, how they've changed from their time as kids. Peter's hair is cropped, and is basically based on my depiction of his father, all to look more professional. MJ I wanted to show as more like a teacher, so I have her hair tied back and she's wearing glasses--my excuse is that she wore contacts beforehand. And Gwen actually has a forehead under her bangs, who knew.

And... that's all I got for today.

So here's a new character for the Spider-Man project.

    ----

Fifteen year old Miles Morales had never known a world without Spider-Man, and had come of age in the five years of Spidey being *the* big time superhero. So to say he was a Spider-Man superfan was putting it lightly. While Spider-Man sightings had slowed considerably since then, it did not stop Miles from absorbing as much Spider-Man information as he could.

A young artist at heart with a budding intellect, Miles had one other role model in his life--his uncle, Aaron Davis, much to the consternation of Miles' parents. Uncle Aaron had always hung around some bad crowds, and Miles' father had wanted to keep his brother out of his son's life, but Aaron always fascinated Miles. Aaron Davis had been arrested five years ago after being exposed as the minor super criminal called the Looter, but Aaron's lawyer had successfully argued that he was, in fact, a costumed vigilante like Spider-Man, and he had been attacked by a Spider-Man imposter.

(the public was unaware of Ben Reilly's deeds that night, see the Looter entry for more details)

He claimed he had intended to use the stolen supervillain weapons to fight crime, and his sentence was lightened to four years for stealing equipment from the authorities. After his release Aaron claimed he had given up his life as a masked vigilante, and without his parents' permission, Miles had been visiting with his uncle whenever he was feeling down.

A Brooklyn native, Miles attended Brooklyn Visions Academy, a charter school he felt he was kind of forced into after he had won the last spot in a lottery drawing. So, while he was smart, he did not think much of teachers. Little did he know that the actual Spider-Man was the guest science teacher from Midtown High who had been invited to give a guest lecture--Peter Parker.

Well, maybe, had he not called in sick that day...

    ----

So not much story here, but certainly stage setting for the future!

I had briefly considered making Miles one of Peter's students, but I felt I wanted him to be set entirely separate from Peter and expand the world more. So they have a missed meeting under really mundane circumstances. His actual story here is basically just Miles as he was depicted in the Spider-Verse movie, I thought that was a really good way to do Miles, so why not bring it here.

Same for his design--it's basically lifted from Into the Spider-Verse, it's basically the look I think of when I think "Miles Morales." Also, he wears black and red almost exclusively here, for some reason.

Spider-Man character one hundred forty-three! Wow, I can't honestly believe I've gotten this far.

    ----

While Miles Morales claimed to be miserable at his new charter school, Brooklyn Visions Academy, this was where he found who people jokingly referred to as his "other half." His name was Ganke Lee, and ever since Miles and him met, they were pretty much inseparable. Ganke was also considered something of a weird loner who did not quite fit in with the rest of the school like Miles, and this is what basically brought them together.

Even still, they were something of an odd pair--Miles was typically quiet and introverted, and Ganke was loud and excitable. Someone with no filter, Ganke could talk a person he just met to death about his nerdy hobbies, whether they wanted to listen or not. In particular, Ganke was absolutely fascinated with Legos, which Miles did not share his same level of enthusiasm for--but to be fair, few did. So he had a tendency to weird people out, but for whatever reason, Miles stuck around. Weirdos had to look out for one another, after all.

In fact, looking out for Miles was what Ganke did best, always willing to cover for him whenever he just kinda didn't show up to school... which seemed to be happening more frequently these days. What was up with that?

    ----

Anyway there's not much story here, I just didn't want to do Miles and not do Ganke. They're two peas in a pod!

I kinda feel bad for Ganke when it comes to adaptations. He's never appeared in a cartoon (despite Miles being a major character in two of them!). Peter Parker basically stole him and renamed him Ned Leeds in the MCU. He has no lines in Into the Spider-Verse at all. And then he's not even identified by name in the PS4 game. So I definitely wanted to make sure to include him here.

For his design... he's Ganke. Like, I don't have any interesting new ideas for his depiction. He's just the same chubby nerd he was when he first showed up. I even managed to sneak in a comic reference into his shirt, which he had a tendency to do. I chose to put the Big Wheel on his shirt, as the Big Wheel was a character who just barely ended up getting cut from this project in the end, so I wanted to get him referenced somewhere.

Didn't expect the Gibbon as the next character entry in the Spider-Man Project, didja?

    ----

The Gibbon's story is linked to the fate of one Curt Connors... what happened to that guy? Last we saw of him, he seemed to be permanently changed into the Lizard and his ex-wife, Martha, had taken custody of him and was trying to cure his condition. They had fled after agents (who were actually working for Edward Brock Senior) had attempted to apprehend him in the Florida everglades.

The Connors had intended to stay hidden, but the government eventually caught up to them during the "Big Time Superhero" era. To everyone's surprise, Curt had been cured! ...sorta. The symbiote derived lizard formula was now too well embedded in his genome to be removed, but Martha had come up with a method of reversing the effects on his brain, granting back his intelligence and control. He was even capable of communicating! So while it was disappointing on one front, it did offer potential interesting developments elsewhere.

But the government still wanted Curt to pay for the Lizard's crimes, and offered him and his family an ultimatum--come back to work with them on his findings, or face imprisonment. Reluctantly, he went back to work, primarily on extracting as much useful information from the remaining symbiotes as possible--the original Venom suit, and Ben Reilly's Spider-Carnage suit that Gwen Stacy had successfully removed from him those years back. So it was not ideal, but it was a return to relative normalcy--at least as normal as a lizard man could get.

Unfortunately, it was not all hunky dory, as another government scientist by the name of Vincent Stegron had... ideas. He saw potential in Curt Connors' condition as a potential super soldier--controllable beast men for some reason tickled his fancy. Stegron managed to convince his superiors to force Curt and Martha Connors to work under him and explore this possible avenue.

(the symbiotes were transferred to Alchemax to study under a government grant)

The Connors were vehemently against Stegron's research, but were forced to come up with a new animal based serum akin to his own and the ones he had used to transform Calypso's children, like Gog. Their first test subject was a government agent named Martin Blank, using a compound based on a gibbon's genome, with additives based on Martha's method of reversing the mind effects.

And the results were predictable to basically everyone but Stegron, it seemed, when Blank transformed into a terrifying gibbon man who was not under any control at all. Tearing through his restraints, Blank went on a rampage through Stegron's facility, with Curt hot on his tail attempting to control him. Martha had pleaded with Stegron, saying that her method only worked on those who had their genomes completely corrupted like Curt's had been, and that only came with time. On someone like Blank who had just transformed? It invited the opposite, sending them into a rage.

Blank's escape made such a ruckus that they had to get Spider-Man involved. Peter, along with Curt, had the facility evacuated, and in the end it required the two of them to bring the entire structure down on Blank to subdue him. And subdue him it did, and they were able to get him into the authorities to have the gibbon genome removed from him before it became permanently part of him. The bad part, was that Peter did not take the fight particularly seriously, and had been rather reckless when he brought down the roof on Blank--this was how he hurt his leg and foot that brought an end to his career as a government agent and forced him into semi retirement.

Yes, it was the Gibbon that did him in.

Vincent Stegron was fired from his post following this incident and the whole situation was covered up, and Peter did some last minute back hand deals to get the Connors family free from the government's clutches and back into the wild to live in peace.

    ----

So maybe an unexpected story here, but it's a bit I wanted to tell, how Peter hurt his leg. It was against the Gibbon. I felt I just had to emphasize that. Sometimes things happen anticlimactically.

But for the Gibbon himself, he's the last old Stan Lee era character I wanted to get in here. He's not very popular because he's just not threatening and his design isn't memorable in the least, but I do think he was the last "major" Spider-Man villain Stan the man created, so I wanted to get him in the project. In the actual comics he was actually a mutant, but his origin has been changed completely here because who cares, it's the Gibbon.

On the other hand, I did put care into making sure I could give him an actually interesting design! So I wanted to make him both threatening and memorable. I studied actual gibbons (which the character in the comics doesn't actually resemble much), and they're not very threatening looking. So he doesn't look much like a real gibbon here, either (they don't have bare chests for one). But I saw potential in a gibbon inspired color scheme, so that's where the dark gray skin and light fur comes from. I imagine that the red veins on his skin comes from the method Martha Connors was forced to use on him that just made him angrier. I don't really know what this method was, but whatever. The bands on his arms are supposed to be remnants of the restraints.

It's time for the 145th Spider-Man character entry, the White Rabbit. This takes place a few months after Aunt May's death.

    ----

Now Spider-Man was not fully retired. Just semi-retired. Peter was still capable of mixing it up with the badguys as the wall-crawler, just not to the same extent and duration as before thanks to his leg injury. And while his full time teaching job did make it more difficult, Peter would still don the webs when the situation got personal or serious enough.

This situation would be one of them. It began with a student at Midtown High being caught smuggling illegal drugs. Peter at first did not think much of it, there were always troublemakers in every generation. But over time he started hearing rumors from the students when they thought he was not listening--a lot of other kids in Midtown, including in Peter's classes, were worried about being exposed if they did not make their payments in time. This was not a case of kids up to no good. Someone was blackmailing teenagers.

As Spider-Man, Peter secretly tailed one of his students he had heard needed to make a payment to this mysterious debtor. The teen eventually ended up in an ally on the wrong side of town meeting with some seriously shady characters. The shady people demanded to know where the next payment was, but the kid said they could not make it--their hours at their after school job had dried up. In tears, the teen pleaded to not have the evidence released. When the crooks started pushing the kid around, Spidey jumped in to save the day. With the criminals out for the count, the teen told Spider-Man what was going on--someone calling themselves the "White Rabbit" had been conning kids at Midtown by hiring them to deliver a package for a big payday, unaware the package contained drugs. The package deliveries were secretly filmed, and the actual reason for their delivery was blackmail on the kids in order to squeeze money out of them. And they needed to make their payments on time--the White Rabbit hated lateness.

Realizing the kind of monsters he was dealing with, Spidey promised the teen that he would shut the White Rabbit down. But the White Rabbit retaliated very quickly. Two days after Peter had saved the student, a bomb threat was called into Midtown. While the students and staff evacuated, Peter switched to Spider-Man once again and used his spider sense to track down the very real device inside the cafeteria. After disabling it, he found a note attached to it from the same student he had rescued from the White Rabbit's men earlier. The note said that the White Rabbit had forced them to plant the device as punishment for getting followed by Spider-Man. It also said that the same student was the one who had called in the threat in order to save everyone.

Now realizing that the student was in danger, Peter realized too late that the student had been kidnapped in the evacuation chaos. But Peter had an ace up his sleeve--fearing for the student, he had placed a spider tracer on their backpack the day before in case this kind of thing happened. The tracer ended up leading Peter to the abandoned auto shop formerly owned by Silvermane that Peter had his last encounter with Wilson Fisk in--the White Rabbit had moved in on Fisk's old property it seemed.

There he saw the student tied to a chair being beaten by the White Rabbit herself. If the situation had not been so dire and disturbing she probably would have been laughable looking. With white tights, a blue blazer, and a white rabbit mask, she looked like she was dressed for an Alice in Wonderland stage production or something--Peter did not expect her to be so... literal looking.

Unfortunately, the White Rabbit was not alone, and her men covered for her vehicular escape when Spidey made his entrance and Peter found himself in a good old fashioned Spider-Man car chase after quickly webbing up the White Rabbit's remaining men and freeing the battered student. The level of violence the White Rabbit was willing to inflict on the city as she made her escape surprised Peter, to the point that he cooled off his chase of her to let her think she had escaped him and she pulled into a nearby warehouse.

Peter secretly sneaked his way into the warehouse after she entered and realized it was a miniature armory, lined with weaponry Fisk's men must have used in the past. The White Rabbit was prepared for his sneak attack, however, and she expended several rounds of ammunition in her attempt to kill her follower before resorting to attempting to club Spider-Man to death with a crowbar. She was a talented fighter for sure, but Peter ended up getting the upper hand fairly quickly and used his webs to take her out of commission.

Frustrated with the White Rabbit's schemes and wanton destruction and violence, Peter tore off her mask, and realized he recognized her--she was Lorina Dodson, a wealthy socialite who made frequent headlines in the city. She had inherited a ton of money when her dad died, and was known for throwing crazy parties at her penthouse. She did not need to resort to crime for a little extra side action--the money she could have possibly been pulling in in her schemes could not have possibly even come close to matching her existing wealth. Why did she do it then?

Lorina shrugged her shoulders and laughed. She said she was bored one day and thought playing supervillain would be fun.

Our hero just about lost his temper completely when she gave her flippant remark. Lorina said she realized that a lot of Fisk's old stuff was actually pretty much unclaimed and thought it would be neat to try to be the next Kingpin, and playing a goofy supervillain was fun! She said she had a blast and hoped to do this with Spider-Man again sometime. Besides, most of the money she was making as the White Rabbit was going to some dude named the Black Tarantula off shore, so it was not like she was doing it for the money. Peter stopped himself from doing something he would regret and webbed her mouth shut and called the authorities.

Going back home, Peter was despondent for two reasons--that someone like Lorina could sink so low for basically no reason at all, and that monsters like the Black Tarantula were still out there while he had committed himself to his family. But coming home to a pregnant, now showing wife, Peter realized maybe it was for the best that he had realized that the world did not begin and end on his shoulders--this was his world now.

    ----

So I just wanted to sneak in a little fun story of Peter operating as Spider-Man while still working as a teacher without it being some grand conspiracy, but of course there's still that hidden thread of the Black Tarantula...

But yeah, like the Gibbon, White Rabbit is basically a joke villain in the Spider-Man universe. But like the Gibbon I wanted to try taking her *somewhat* seriously. So she's more competent here, and is basically a wannabe crime boss instead of a random costumed nut who isn't even good enough to hire actual goons. But despite her status as a more credible threat, she is still a costume wearing nut. She's like a darker shade of her comics self.

Which is basically what her design is here. A darker shade of her normal self. She still dresses in white tights and coat, vaguely Playboy Bunny-esque but considerably more modest. And then I opted to change her white makeup and rabbit ears to a creepier looking rabbit mask. So she almost looks like an uncomfortably sexual children's show host, but then she's got a crowbar (instead of her umbrella) and blood spattered on her to show just how unhinged and dangerous she actually is.

We're closing in on the end of the Spider-Man project now!

If you've been keeping up with my Spider-Man project you probably saw this guy coming.

    ----

A quick recap--Vincent Stegron was a former government scientist who had forced Curt Connors to help him transform Martin Blank into the Gibbon. He was fired following this instance. But that did not stop Stegron from being absolutely fascinated by the idea of beast men in control of their own actions, just like Connors had become.

While he had been fired from his government job the actual incident involving his firing was covered up, and he found work easily at Alchemax. The higher ups at Alchemax also saw potential in his research into hybrid humans, and gave him a special facility to do so in. And he worked there for a time, until a mysterious fire burned the facility down, just like the one that had claimed Jonas Harrow and his lab. Stegron was missing, and presumed dead.

Jumping forward a little bit, to a few months after the White Rabbit incident. While on a routine check up for MJ's pregnancy, the couple was confronted by someone they did not expect--Martha Connors. She said Curt was missing, and she did not know who else to turn to. Curt Connors was now permanently lizard-ized, if you remember, but was in control of his own mind. But Martha said that in the few days before he disappeared, he had been acting strangely. She at first thought the worst had come to pass--that her treatment for Curt had failed. But then she realized her instruments were picking up a strange low frequency sound all throughout the tri state area, too low for any known mammal to hear. The local zoos had apparently been having trouble with their reptiles at around the same time and she began to realize that there was likely foul play involved.

Peter agreed to help, and turned to who he knew could come up with a solution--Gwen Stacy. She had become a big shot at New Horizon and had access to all sorts of crazy gizmos. If there was anyone who had the resources to find the source of the sound, it would be her. Peter, Martha, and Gwen put together a machine that could track the source of the low frequency wave, and Peter agreed to follow it as Spider-Man.

It ended up leading Peter to the location of the old hideout of Calypso's he had followed the Lizard to during the events of Kraven's Last Hunt. Located at the docks, the hideout itself had collapsed in on itself during those said events, but someone had hollowed out a new path through it. Following it carefully, the air was thick with the smell of sewer water. It eventually lead Peter to a large abandoned subway tunnel, and a sight he never thought he'd see.

The entire site was filled with humanoid reptiles of all sorts and sizes. Lizards, iguanas, and even... dinosaur men? Was he seeing this right? At the far side he saw what looked to be their leader, a large brown... stegosaurus man, so far as he could tell. He was bigger than the other reptile people, and had a huge hunched back with a line of plates sticking up from it. The weirdest thing about the whole situation was that Peter could hear the reptile people talking to each other.

When the reptile people saw Spider-Man, they all went silent. Their leader, the dinosaur man, was the first to talk, exclaiming that Spider-Man was going to ruin everything and ordered his followers to attack the webhead as he retreated into the depths.

So Peter found himself in a fight or flight situation with dozens of scaly reptile people, a flurry of scales, tails, and gnashing jaws. But as distracted as Peter was--he knew he recognized the stegosaurus's voice frome somewhere but he could not place it--the reptile people were not mindless beasts and did not seem to have their heart in killing him. As Peter fought past them, he finally remembered where he had heard his voice before--it was back in the Gibbon incident. It was Vincent Stegron, who was not only alive, but apparently was now a dinosaur man?!

Finally getting past the reptile people, Peter gave chase to Stegron down the tunnel he fled in. He eventually came to a large, complex machine set along the abandoned tracks, but before he could contemplate what it was for Peter had to rely on his good old spider sense to dodge Stegron's massive spiked tail. Peter now found himself face to face against the dinosaur man, whose spikes, tail, claws, and sheer mass made him more than a match for the aging Spider-Man. Peter demanded to know where Curt Connors was and what the machine was for, but Stegron just kept repeating that Spider-Man was going to ruin everything.

The two of them only stopped fighting when they heard Curt tell them both to quit fighting. Curt had been behind the contraption the whole time, and seemed to be working on it, his large clawed hands delicately holding machinery. The former professor-turned-lizard told them they were not enemies of each other. With tensions lowered, the other reptile people started pouring into the tunnel, and Peter realized they were not crazed minions but scared people. Curt told Stegron to explain himself to Peter.

Eased by Curt's words, Stegron told Peter what had happened. He said that while at Alchemax, he had been given permission to work with the original black suit material to help in his study of hybridization. He said he had been really close to developing a proper combination of Curt Connors' original lizard formula and Martha Connors' control method in one. It was made using 'dinosaur DNA,' created in another Alchemax branch by reverse engineering bird genomes--it was not real dinosaur genetic material but it was an approximate facsimile, best they could tell. He was on the verge of a breakthrough when it happened.

His laboratory was attacked by...something. Stegron's eyes flashed with fear as he thought back to the incident, he could not even begin to describe the attacker. The attacker had come to destroy the black suit, it seemed, and razed the lab to the ground to do so. Stegron and his assistants were very nearly killed, but Stegron managed to save himself using his formula that had survived the attack. It worked, both saving his life and transforming him into a dinosaur man completely in control of his actions. He administered similar formulas based on other reptiles and such to the surviving assistants that needed it lest they would too die, and they also transformed and were saved.

At this point Peter figured he had heard it all before--now they wanted to turn everyone into dinosaurs, right? Well, not really. Stegron said they just wanted to live in peace, away from the thing that had burned their lab to the ground. They moved in to the old Calypso base and found these tunnels, and had made them their new home. Drifters and homeless began hearing of their society and began willingly joining them at a chance for a new life--these became the start of their new reptilian society.

But they wanted to move away from the city and into new frontiers, but were unsure how to find their way through the maze of tunnels and to keep everyone together--that's where the Mercy Killer machine came from. It was a prototype machine that Alchemax had made based on the same vibration technology that Spencer Smythe's people had used to create the Shocker system. It was designed as a means of humanely killing prisoners (hence the rather morbid name), but it failed. But it did have potential in emitting frequencies that could influence people's behaviors, and over a wide area.

Stegron had a prototype Mercy Killer machine stolen from Alchemax for him, and he knew he could use it to guide his people. But it needed modifications for his demands, and that's why he had it calibrated to call out to Curt Connors for his assistance. So Curt was not a prisoner of the dinosaur man at all. In fact, he was just about done and ready to leave.

As Peter and Curt prepared to leave, Stegron told the former professor that there was room in his new reptilian society for him, but Curt told Stegron that he appreciated the offer but he had a family to return to. As they bid farewell to Stegron and his reptilians, Stegron gave one last bit of advice to Peter--the attacker who had burned down his lab and nearly killed him had done so to destroy the black suit. Jonas Harrow was killed in a similar attack, and he had been in the process of recreating the spider that had created Spider-Man. There was a pretty clear pattern here.

Peter nodded his head, and said he knew. Someone or something was coming for him. But when that time came, he'd just have to act on it, just like he always did. And just like that, Stegron was gone. Peter returned Curt to Martha, and they all agreed to not disclose anything about Stegron and his new society--they deserved peace.

    ----

So that's a twist, right? Stegron the Dinosaur Man is...! Actually a pretty decent guy, all told. I thought that would be a fun way to change things up, and serves as a way to sunset the story around Curt Connors, of people coming to live with their new selves instead of rejecting it. So maybe Stegron had overstepped the line when it came to the Gibbon, but it seems he is keen to make up for it by being a good leader for his people. Stegron is a fun character, but I was not sure how to use him in my series at first, but I decided to challenge myself to fit him in. I had to kind of bend over backwards to get the dinosaur DNA angle in there without any real backstory, as the Savage Land isn't a thing in any of my previous Spider-Man entries and would be a little too out there to just throw in at this point, but I think what I did got the gist of it.

Stegron himself was fun as hell to design considering how big I am into paleontology. It was a fun exercise in both calling on my old habits of drawing dinosaurs as well as an exercise in pushing my limits on dinosaurs into a more monstrous direction. So he is sure as heck not accurate in the least bit, but he is considerably more "stegosaur-y" than Stegron is usually drawn. He's massive, has a huge hunched back, and a really tiny head. For as friendly as he actually ended up being, his design ended up being kinda creepy looking. I like the dichotomy.

Its funny how character design functions in my brain. It started with a commission piece that never got done, I lost contact with client. so I took the initial sketch and revised it with elements of my own, along with inspiration from Vogue and traditional robes. plus the burn scars add for potential narrative and back story. who this is in my mythology I have yet to figure out, but still, just thought I would briefly share how the design process is for me.

The artist did imply that princess and dragons here are working together to destroy knights:

Here is the once-mentioned sister of Jadis, the name of whom we are never told; according to Jadis, it was her fault the world of Charn was destroyed because she broke her promise not to use magic in the last war. She died when Jadis used the Deplorable Word to destroy that world; makes you wonder who was more prideful? Hope you like it; thanks.

    Lonewolf-Sparrowhawk: Queen Prunaprismia

This queen is the wife of the Telmarine king, Miraz, who murdered his brother, Caspian the Ninth, King of Narnia and Telmar. Miraz's nephew, young Prince Caspian, is next in line for the throne; that is, until Prunaprismia has a son, after which Miraz plans to kill Caspian. It is mentioned that Caspian often wondered why he disliked his aunt so much, and eventually discovered that it was because she disliked him. Hope you enjoy; thanks!

    Lonewolf-Sparrowhawk: Lasaraleen Tarkheena

Lasaraleen is only a minor character; she only appears once in The Horse and his Boy. She helps Aravis escape Tashbaan with the information that the wicked Prince Rabadash, who is bent on marrying the Narnian Queen Susan, is about to attack the city of Anvard, which could gain him a foothold for reaching the land of Narnia. Although Lasaraleen and Aravis think one another rather silly, they still remain good friends.

This would be gift art I did for a friend of mine who is writing a comic series called "The Brother", which is about a time-traveling African king on a quest for redemption. The character you see here would be the king's African-American sidekick, a woman named Imani Anderson. I think she came out looking quite spunky here.
