X-Men - Storm 2K21 Redesign by Femmes-Fatales on DeviantArt

Storm (AKA Ororo Munroe) is my all-time favourite Marvel character, so I've drawn her a whole lot and redesigned her a handful of times. She's the character I find hardest to draw and design for because she's so iconic. There's a standard you have to meet when doing so. Costume-wise, this is yet another take on her black bodysuit with gold accents. It combines a bunch of things into one look. The hair is inspired by Leigh-Anne Pinnock's hair from Little Mix's Fusion Festival performance in 2019.

Here is number seven from wave two of my revamps and redesigns of Marvel heroines.

Nightshade, real name Dr. Tilda Johnson, is a scientific genius whose specialization in biochemistry and technology allowed her to develop formulas to turn humans into werewolves. During the years where she used her skills to commit crime, Nightshade's trademark was her command of werewolves and use of pheromones to manipulate men. She would eventually hang up her mad scientist lab coat and instead put her mind (and strength) to use in order to fight crime.

Nightshade is not a character I'd expect the vast majority of people to know. She was an obscure villain who fought Captain America, Falcon, and Black Panther, and hasn't made that many appearances. While she did appear in Netflix's Luke Cage series and was a playable character in Marvel Avengers Academy, it doesn't seem to have raised her profile much. With the right team behind her, she could be a really unique character. I mean come on, she turns people into werewolves and can use them as her henchmen? Now that's a boss. Her leading a supernatural-themed series would be neat.

Anyway, because Nightshade is so obscure and isn't known by the public, it offers a lot of room for interpretation. Her comics costumes are basically all either horrendous(ly dated and/or hypersexualized) or they're just plain generic. I kept the general silhouette of her original hairstyle, but gave it more detail. The rest is all something new. So, it's a two-piece ensemble (as a nod to the original bikini look) with a purple trenchcoat. The purple being a nod to the nightshade flowers. Then she's got a wolf tail just because. I very much wanted to go for a monster hunter vibe.

Here's the 11th entry into my second wave of revamps and redesigns of Marvel heroines.

Gamora is "the deadliest woman in the whole galaxy." She is a skilled hand-to-hand fighter and weapons expert who has used her abilities as an assassin and mercenary. Though she was adopted and raised by the villainous Thanos, she eventually became a hero as a member of the Infinity Watch and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I believe this is the first time I've ever drawn Gamora, so that's kind of fun. For my take on her, I took (obvious) inspiration from her appearance in the MCU as well as pulling some elements from the comics and cartoons she's been featured in.

Gamora joins Mantis and Moondragon in my gallery, so if you're a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy you may want to check those pieces out too!

Here is the 12th entry into my second wave of revamps and redesigns of Marvel heroines.

Hellcat, otherwise known as Patsy Walker, is a feline themed heroine who has allied herself with the Avengers and the Defenders over the years. She is a capable young woman who is a keen investigator and skilled martial artist. Like many comic book characters, she has had an absolutely outrageous journey with a whole lot of dramatic storylines and yet still somehow manages to fly under most people's radars as a superhero worth fangirling for. While she remains an obscure character, Hellcat largely served as the basis for Trish Walker in the acclaimed Jessica Jones Netflix series (I'm using inspired by lingo here since Hellcat fans were overwhelmingly disappointed with the portrayal).

For my take on Hellcat, I basically just took her standard costume and applied various details to it to add depth to an otherwise overly simple uniform.

Here is the 13th entry into my second wave of revamps and redesigns of Marvel heroines.

Supermodel. Spy. Superhero. Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock has been many things over the years, including a member of the X-Men as the psionic powerhouse Psylocke and eventually leading Excalibur after having taken up her twin brother's mantle as Captain Britain.

This was a really difficult piece because I really wanted to marry two really great modern designs that Betsy has worn, but I'm not fully happy with the results since the canon ones still look better. The general design works and is actually pretty cute, but I couldn't find the correct placement of colours. Suggestions and feedback would be helpful.

Here is the 14th entry into my second wave of revamps and redesigns of Marvel heroines.

With superhuman strength and bio-electric energy blasts at her disposal, Spider-Woman is a powerful superhero and super spy. She has been a member of the Avengers and ally to S.H.I.E.L.D. As Jessica Drew, she is a mother to her son Gerry and the quick-witted best friend to Carol Danvers (AKA Captain Marvel).

For my take on Spider-Woman, I opted to combine her iconic red jumpsuit with elements from her Kris Anka-designed suit. I also decided to give a little wink to her Ultimate look by having the majority of the suit be red with all other colours (in this case, yellow) being accents. I like it. It's super sleek and super chic.
