And #8 really sealed the issue. We learn that Emperor Fel (ugh, it grates to use a last name here) hates the Sith and that he did not want to use the Knights against the Jedi. Clearly the dark side has to be anathema to them.

They're just Jedi who serve the Empire. It's plain to see.

I wonder how the IK's are chosen and trained?

Are they taken from childhood and put into academies?

If so, did the Jedi and IK's compete for force sensitive children?

^ That's something I'm very interested in, too. I'm really wondering about the organization of the IKs. Are they exactly like the Jedi of the Republic/NR/GA? Or do they serve solely as Royal Guard/Special Forces/elite missions.

Well, they haven't been around all that long at this point have they? I was under the impression that they've only been around 7-10 years. I'd imagine most current IKs have been trained as Jedi and then just split from the main branch of the Order at some point. Not sure Fels I or II were IKs.

Well, there's no way of knowing, really. The existence of academies on Bastion and Nirauan seem to imply that they're a bit older than that, because if most of them were just regular Jedi, then they'd know all they need to know by the time they became IKs, so having, not just one, but two full-on academies would seem to imply that they're actually training kids and the like. Then again, the Master of the IKs doesn't seem to be a particularly old man. In fact, he appears to be John Mayer. So there has to be some explanation for that. "That" being the fact that the master of a faction doesn't appear to be much older than late twenties, not that he looks like a guitar playing pop musician.

Academies on Nirauan and Bastion? o_O Where did that come from?!

There are various reasons why Antares might be in charge. Roan Fel might have thought he was loyal and pliable ( [face_laugh]). Casualties in support of the Fel cause could have been high (we've seen eleven Imperial Knights, counting Roan and Sia; seven are dead, and one was brought back from the brink by Cade)...

Alternatively, the position could be given to a succession of Anakin Solo gholas... :p

I've never heard anything in the source material about IK academies.

Well, establishing places of learning for prospective future IKs and younglings/padawans that may have been brought along after the split with the main Jedi Order wouldn't be unreasonable. It's entirely possible and plausible that families came over to the Imperial side etc and needed a place to keep their kids while working. Still, two academies is a stretch. But they don't seem to be that long of a tradition, so maybe it's just eager anticipation that led them to build two academies.

I hope you don't read SW novels and then talk to your friends about how Iran wouldn't be making so much trouble if Palpatine were still president.

Actually, just the other day, a friend and i were discussing Iran and the global situation in general, and determined that a Palpatine-approach was needed to resolve the various volatile situations that exist.

    All hail HIM. [face_mischief]

Someone and I were talking about the IK's the other day and I'm wondering if they are misnamed. Their allegiance appears to be to the Fel Family and not necessarily the Empire.

Well, to deepen the mystery a bit, I'll introduce an example I've always found rather freaking interesting: the Vaos were both saved by the Imperial Mission as orphan children, but Shado became a Jedi, not an IK.

Perhaps the Imperial Knights accept only Humans in their ranks? So far we have seen about a dozen Imperial Knights, all of which are - and were, most of them having been redshirt cannon fodder - Humans. It at least tells that Humans probably are a big majority among them, and perhaps they all are Humans.
