An old thread at the dakkadakka forums says it came from a Death watch short story. Likely one of the Steve Parker ones the Kill Team (Talon)he writes includes a member of the Exorcist chapter, Rauth, whose man job is to keep an eye on the Kill Team Alpha(team leader), Karras, who is Death Spectre chapter Librarian that is extremely powerful. Rauth is under orders to kill Karras if he becomes daemonically possessed.

Plus they both go through similar rites where they are briefly possessed by a daemon during imitation into the chapter and the Exercises are said to have strong ties with the Ordo Malleus, which the Grey knights are part of the Chamber militant.

Will paint everything else up tomorrow and Thursday. Have to paint 3 frackin standards( Ezekiel, Dark Angels Ancient and death wing ancient )or I may jut try to figure out how to cover that with the decals that come in from forgeworld for horus heresy.

I just heard the same from Bolter and Chainsword, and it was said there that somebody instory said that they had gene-kinship with the Grey Knights.

    * Looks up stuff on the net. And the great e-spider provides * Here is the direct qoute: "Even the mighty Grey Knights, from whose seed Rauth’s Chapter had been born, could hardly have been more suited to the task."

While I agree that this do seems to say that the GK are their forebears can I actually, with the kind of symbolic language often used in WH40k, also see it as more of an indication of the background for their mystical ways - like in "a seed of an idea" and such.

Lexicanium, the more accurate of the two wikis for 40k online is playing it safe and listing them as both with Imperial fists tagged as the official and the Grey Knights as Rumored.

It makes for some interesting stuff for any future kill team talon stories as the team is now two gene sons of Dorn( Omni and Rauth), two of Corax(karras and Zeed) with a gene son of Gulliman( Solarion) and of course a dread that is a Lammenter and therefore a son of Sanguinius.

Solarion the ultra marine already has personality conflicts with the others they can tie this in as one of the causes and make him at least a little more relateable at the same time as he could feel lonelier as the others except for Custom have closer kin on the team technically and the Ultra Marines culture emphasizes brotherhood so much compared to the raven guard successors who are more individualistic and the Imperial fist successors who tend more towards stoicism

Something I didn't know till today - the new Warmaster Forgeworld titan is almost certainly based on old Jed Goodwin art:

That explains it - I hadn't watched the online preview video.

Was the Nemesis, by contrast, just a Warlord variant in the old fluff, rather than being a slightly different size?

Have we seen any regiment/warband/chapter/such using green and blue as their main colours? and not in the blending way Alpha Legion sometime use

Also the same queston but for blue and yellow?

    Don't know.

    Warmongers:

I did some Googling and apparently the Nemesis was indeed a Warlord variant originally.

    Found a resource

    https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Pictorial_List_of_Space_Marine_Chapters_A-L#

Original Raptors chapter color from 1st edition was Blue and yellow.

They later switched to an olive drab and are also one of the few chapters known to commonly paint their armor camouflage for specific campaigns which makes sense as they are a Raven guard successor.

Avenging Sons are navy blue and yellow. Celestial lions( The African themed Imperial Fist successor is yellow with blue. Death strike chapter another imperial fist successor is dark blue and yellow highlights.
Harbingers, Imperial Castellans are also blue with yellow. Libators are yellow with blue.

Closest I could find to non alpha legion Blue and Green would be the 4th companies of any completely codex complaint chapter which has blue as its main color where the pauldrons would have green trim.. Such as the Ultra marines 4th company(Uriel Ventris and his boys) and the Crimson fist 4th company. Most of the green armored Chapters in the 41st Millennium are Dark Angel, or the Salamanders and there successors and a few ravenguard ones and while technically complaint to the codes they tend to mark there company's differently.

Dark Angels and there successors Mark company by actual medieval style heraldry using patterns in green, bone, red and black.

Salamanders and there few successors mark company by changing the color of the chapter symbol. None of which seem to use blue on there Tables of organization per either wiki.

Raven guard and their successors use a white or black gothic numeral to mark company similar to the ones the Raven guard and Dark Angels used during the heresy.

Based on all the green Raptors I have seen standing out in against non-green boards, no they don't ;) :p

A bit more serius so do we have many illustrations and at least some lore talking about how many different Chapters cover their colours in camouflage but it's a bit hard to do that in the game since then you need to repaint them for each new table, which mean that it's just easier to have them in their main colours and say that they have camo in the story but in the game they seem with out it.

Unwillingness to cover up your colours when needed and possible is actually a possible "Chapter Flaw" in the Deathwatch RPG's Space Marine Chapter Creation Tables

    https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Raptors_(Chapter)

Their lexicanium page shows a brother in A Tundra camo variant that's a grayish color about halfway down the page. Cannot post image directly because of issue the forums have with images from Wikia's says that was used during the Babab war. Howling Griffons also apparently painted their armor mostly black for Night ops.

    Both images are also here
    https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Camouflage#Gallery

First founding chapters even apparently paint land raiders/rhinos and tanks in camo patterns, sometimes.

I actual plain to paint at least one DA land raider or rhino in A camo scheme this summer as there temperate camo scheme for the Dark Angels will actually look kind of nice for the green wing guys alongside the bone color land raider for my Deathwing I will have to paint.

You only need to put it inside IMG tags, normally, to post it directly

or, if that doesn't work, copy-paste it from a search engine like Bing.

Something I think will be of interest for @Anedon and @anakincol

I know, that what was the smilies was for, to indicate I was joking.

My point was mostly that the idea that most chapters don't use camo is more of fan idea than something that we see in the lore

If it's just for that would I suggest asking around if there is somebody that would allow you to use their blood for the blood god pot to do that, if you plan to do more do I suggest buying the whole pot - you could paint up some marines from a red Capter as alias if nothing else.

Im determined to buy an e reader just for WH books. It will be my 1st one but there is just no way I can have this vast a library on shelf in house. It’s to big. E reader is the only way I will be able to earn this WH geek badge I think and it’s a badge I want.

    Started the Ciaphas Cain books.

Funniest stuff I have ever read in the franchise. The whole flash man in space thing is really great for the setting.

They are some of my favourite 40K books. Cain's a bit nicer than Flashman or Blackadder - but there's a lot of similarities. And Jurgen is a lot like Baldrick, if Baldrick were competent.

What I like most is all the little Shout Outs to other media - enough that there's a whole page for them on TV Tropes.

I am really happy with how the robes came out on Azrael and the Ancient this time. Used a bit of color theory on them.

Primed them in zandri dust to give a brownish base to work from, the went with ushabti bone,we sepia wash in the robes recesses, then brought the flat and raised areas of the robes color up using screaming skull, so you get the darker shadow in the recesses and the lighter bone white in the flat areas like the top of the hood. Also used a similar technique but with edge highlighting on the blade guard, also primed in sanctions dust, basecoated in ushabti bone, recess washed in sepia, and then edge highlighted in screaming skull on the raised parts of the armor. Meanwhile the robed parts are based Caliban Green, washed in nuln oil, and then edge highlights in warpstone glow. I also tried a new wash on the Wingedsword shoulder pad of Azrael,The ancient and the , the intercessor, and the apothecary, which was after base coating the the white on the chapter symbol and the wings of the angel on the banner, I used a 1:2 ratio of drakenhoff nightshade(a blue wash) and laiman medium(a clear acrrylic paint which is the base of theCitadel paint line just without the pigments) to thin it and washed the icons so carefully so that the recesses got the a deep color without blueing the green or the white.

    HellBlasters this week.

Going to due the heavy plasma incinerator variant for them as with the intracable and weapons from the dark age make them a good backline unit to hold objectives and shoot up enemy at distance.my backline is going to be them, eradictors, and my dreadnoughts since I have my raven wing, Deathwing Knights, Assault intercessors, Infiltrators and Reivers as options for assault troops and my intercessors, deathwing terminators squad, and Blade guard as my mainline troops choices. Will have to pair the hellblasters with Azrael or one of the interrogstoz Chaplains to give them the invulnerable saves that come with those characters.
