So Warhammer Preview Online! Summer Skirmish – Find All of the Reveals Right Here happend. Was working so did not see it live. Here are some thoughts:

The first stuff was Warcry Carves Its Way Into the Gnarled Heart of Ghur in a New Edition

We have seen some of those figures already so it was no "what's this" reveal, but nice to see all the warband members. From a 40k point ov veiw so are both of them perfect for any kind of Chaos cultists (as they are or with modifications). The Rotmire Creed figures could with little to no work function as swamp (or just standard feral) worlders or hivesumpers (it's established that way to many in 40k, on most planets, suffer from physical maladies and sicknesses). If you want them a bit more tech, give them guns or do a head swap with a head with a rebreathe or cybernetics. With a bit more work could they be serfs of auxilla to a SM chapter from a feral world with much swamps.

The Horns of Hashut could with little to no work function as feudal worlders of hive scums (the underhives (like most of 40k) are alfter all known for their schizo-tech, so running around with hand powered flamethrowers while establishing that those helmets have communicators and dark vision would be ordinary). If you want to create a Hashut themed CSM force are the Horns the first thing you should go to for parts and followers. If you have a bovinae themed SM chapter (like Sons of Taurus & Tauran) are they excellent for serfs or auxilla.

All figures area also excelent for =][= or Rogue Trader warband members, as they are or with modifications.

    ---------------------------------------

Goliath Gangers Batter Their Way Across the Ash Wastes With a New Vehicle

Outside of their primary 40k role can I see them used for CSM, SM and ork bikers. Genestealer cults (since they are often hivers), and Imperial Guard could also be using them.

    ---------------------------------------

Hexbane’s Hunters Plunge into the Dark Heart of the Nethermaze

Hello =][= warband. Could also be used for Necromunda or as Rogue Trader followers, as they are or with modifications.

    ---------------------------------------

The Amazons Are Here To Rip Up The Gridiron in Blood Bowl

First of: that's some really nice models, an that paint job, wow.

I can see them as the base for auxilla for any mayincatec themed SM or CSM force. As they are many of them could be close combat specialists for a =][= or Rogue Trader warband. The ones with a snake could be used more or less as they are as psykers (even if non static psykers are really not represented in w0k art). With a different paintjob, and maybe some converting, could they be Slaanesh cultists, or maybe some less androgynous and more buff daemonettes. The heads could be used to give other model a different look (even if you just buy them for the heads, you either have money to burn or need help :p ).

    --------------------------------------

and they saved the best to last:
Imperial Navy Breachers Clash With a Kroot Kinband in Kill Team: Into the Dark

    =P~ [face_love]

Nothing to say here but that I want! And nice to see some kroot love, hope this means we will get some more kroots to the Tao range [face_praying]

Also, if anybody missed it, both sides will have seven models, it's just that they did not show them all right now.

Colour combination questions - have we seen any Chapters or IG regiments that are:

    Split green and yellow

Split yellow and red - (and I mean split, not quartered like the Howling Griffons)

Combining green and blue (ignoring Aplha Legion)

Emperor's Shields (the red head may be because the model is a Sergeant - the Lexicanum page for it, at least, doesn't mention the red head, only saying "Green and Yellow")

Think it's that their helmets show company colour (he is part of third company whose colour is red), like with the Storm Lords

Working on my Sons of Jaghatai (with my much more skilled cuisine doing the painting for the set pieces) and have brought a lots of new boxes for my pile of shame but regarding nothing: what secund party creators do people know of that create stuff that's clearly for GW products but that take on stuff that GW don't?

As in presenting cultures/groups that GW don't have any parts for, like Wulf's heade miniatures that has meso-american-ish SM parts and Victoria Miniatures with their Highland Guard (space-scotts) and Van Diemen's World Devils (space-WWII-aussis ), but not like Kromlech whose Prime Legionaires parts are all based on the Space Marine legions to whome GW makes parts (exept, I see now while I'm writing this, their Cyber Samurai heads and backpack which are samurai-ish).

I would say that for this question do I count things like antique greek-ish SW helmets and equipment as things GW don't creat since we don't see those things on any figures or upgrade set, even though the Ultramarines and Imperial Fists have antique greek-ish elements. And to complicate things more would I also say that parts that are vikings-ish without anthing wolf in it also count as something GW don't do since while the Space Wolves have much viking stuff in their lingo do most of their parts have more with just wolves or fantasy-barbarians than vikings.

The Iron Warriors, Emperor's Children, White Scars, and Space Wolves now have their own as well. The "single fancy head" can be used on anything from a Sergeant (squad leader) all the way up to a Praetor (company leader).

Personally, now we have a variety to assess - I think the White Scars and Space Wolves ones are worst for variety - differing much less from each other than most of the others (though the Imperial Fist ones only seem to have different "airholes" and that's it).

WIP pics of my Sons of Jaghatai Lieutenant A n B, Ancient, Veteran Lieutenant, and Captain:

Created from figures from 'Heroes of the Chapter', 'Wh40k: Recruit Edition' and 'Wh40k: Elite Edition' boxes, kitbashed with parts from the 'Grey Hunters' box, 'WS upgrade kit', 'Kor'sarro Khan', 'Celestial Warbringers Upgrades' and a gun from 'Freeguild Pistoliers'

The Sons of Jaghatai, are a White Scars successor that first appeared in 'How to Paint Space Marines' (2004), painted by Christian Blair (@grumpypaintinggit). My idea with them is to use the Timurid Empire and the areas/cultures it contained as inspiration for them, combined with some celestial imagery createt by the use of Adeptus Titanicus Legio Astorum transfears, and bits from the Celestial Warbringers Upgrades kit. Plan to use Orkhon script for their writing (partly to justify the runes that's on the SW parts I have used, since Orkhon is rune-ish).

And now we also have the World Eaters:

I would say that of those helmets the IW skull ones can be used for Silver Skulls or as Chaplin heads for more industrial/AdMech friendly chapters, or any chapter with a skull theme. The non-skull ones can be used by anybody.

The EC and WS ones are a bit boring compared to the others since they are just beakie with something extra, but that also makes them useful for anybody that just wants that, maybe I will by the WS one since I have taken a use of "ponytail plumes" on my Sons of Jaghatai, but I'm a bit uncertain about how good the beakie fit with the Mark X collar and backpack. Had personally hopped for something with a moustache for the WS unhelmet head.

The SW ones can be used for any chapter with a wolf theme, or if in HH you want to make a group of Lunar Wolves/Sons of Horus/Black Legion that really took the wolf-part of their name/old name to their heart, or maybe loyalist Sons of Horus group that have returned to their old colours and decided to show where they stand by having different helmets compared to their traitor brethren.

The WE ones are good for anybody wanting to do Khorn Berserkers, or if you clip of the "horns" you have an alternative helmet for any figure/group you want to mark out as a bit different.

    People remember this?
Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Rogue Trader Announcement Trailer - YouTube

For us that missed/could not afford it at that time there are great news: Kill Team: Annual 2022 – The Elucidian Starstriders and Gellerpox Infected Return
And now we can by them teams in separated boxes! =P~ I take two Starstrider boxes! Oh my wallet :(

Now we can hope that they will re-release the Blackstone Fortress expansion boxes that I missed when I did not have money [face_praying]

    -----------------------

In more personal news have I added on my pile of shame (a shop had a 20% off Warhammer thing and I decided to buy stuff since 20% is a notable amount and I'm not certain if they are having the sale to just clean out their GW stuff and maybe would not take in new items). I brought:
Cursed City - my second ex, I want an ex where I use the figures as it is meant to be done and then I want access to the figures for kitbash. This was probobly my main reason to hurt my wallet since GW don't make the box anymore (hopefully, ones GW can fix whatever problems Cursed City had they will begin making it again, and begin to release the expansion boxes that they must have had planed for it), and if you buy Radukar the Wolf and Radukar's Court separetly they cost nearly as mutch as Cursed City, and you don't get the heroes or any of the lesser enemies or mysterious objects.

Deathrattle Skeletons - their Eastern European/Near Eastern still makes them a bit mine for my Turco-Mongolian inspired Sons of Jaghatai space marines. And I have a cousin who, among other things, works with the undead in AoS, so he might be interested in the parts I don't use. I prey GW will in the future release living versions of those designs, to be used with Cities of Sigmar (and maybe as living troops to Soulblight Gravelords) [face_praying]

Start Collecting! Seraphon - for your informatin, the 'Saurus Oldblood On Carnosaur' which is part of this box costs almost as much as the box itself if you buy it separately, so with 20% off I got that one and all the other stuff for less than the what the Oldblood On Carnosaur box cost normaly. And even though I'm not planning a Seraphon army, there's so much stuff in it that I can use for my Cities of Sigmar cavalry army project (maybe have the Saurus Knights as count-as Drakespawn Knights [face_thinking]), and so many bits that can be used elsewhere.

And if people allow me to talk AoS here for a bit, so did my browsing around while I decided to what to buy make me realise that you could use many of the Lumineth Realm-lords figures as count-as Cities of Sigmar figures: Vanari Bladelords as Freeguild Greatswords, Vanari Auralan Wardens as Freeguild Guard, Vanari Auralan Sentinels as Freeguild Crossbowmen, and Vanari Dawnriders as Dark Riders or Wild Riders. You could just paint them in your Sigmarite City's colours (aelves are after part of Cities of Sigmar), or do some kitbashing to make them less Lumineth.

    This is happening:

What´s peoples wish-list that we will see?

    Here is mine not-going-to-happen wish-list for 40k:
    * A new upgrade kit for the White Scars in the size of the Black Templar one (preferably with heads with the dropping moustaches they have in illustrations and the current upgrade kit lack)
    * A White Scars Outriders upgrade kit (there used to be a Bike Upgrade Kit for them after all)
    * A return of the Horus Heresy Black Shields Transfers sheet
    * A Horus Heresy Black Shields upgrade kit, with jury-rigged and/or visibly repaired equipment, strange xeno-/hertical-/archo- equipment, and bling of strange origin (“They decorate their armour with fragments of enemy weapons, including the skulls or teeth of alien beasts, taken as trophies, as well as carved stone charms similar to Terran jade”)
    * A generic “desert environment” Astra Militarum upgrade kit with shawled and turbaned heads (maybe some wearing a kepi with neck drape), and weapon/equipment/bling inspired by RL (or fictional, maybe something nodding to LoTR’s Harad, or the Fremen/DUNE?) desert cultures or desert stationed troops
    * A generic “voidborn” Astra Militarum upgrade kit with heads, weapons, equipment, and bling based on the illustrations and descriptions of voidborn and voidsmen we have
    * The return of the Rough Riders
    * A generic Space Marine upgrade kit with heads, weapons, equipment, and bling based on cultures and warrior groups from Central- and South Asia.
    * Since we have seen the return of Elucia Vhane and her Starstriders, a box with her cosine Buck Vhane and his main followers
    * A re-realise of the Blackstone Fortress expansions

    and my not-going-to-happen wish-list for AoS :
    * Cities of Sigmar upgrade kits, either based on established cities or the different Realms, if not both
    * Living versions of the Deathrattle Skeletons/Ulfenwatch, to be used with Cities of Sigmar (and maybe as living troops to Soulblight Gravelords)
    * Generic upgrade kits based on the different Realms
    * A Chaos Pigeons warband to Warcry
    * (living) Ogor troops/mercenaries based on the Kosargi Nightguard

I took a look at my Tome Keepers transfer sheet and realised that the squad numbers go from 1 to 16 and is now a bit confused, I thought codex chapters had ten squads for each company, so why do the squad numbers go up to 16?

The Primaris thing maybe (after Primaris marines started being added to companies, those companies now can go up to 20, but generally end up with a bit less).

For anybody that want to creat your own White Scars successor are the Horus Heresy books a gold mine for possible names. The HH books have given the White Scars lots of names of groups within the Legion and old cognomens. None which have clear counterparts to any of the current known WS successors, or among successors of unknown lineage to my understanding.

Among those new names are the names of their chapters (brotherhoods) : Brotherhood of the... : Blue Hawk, Night's Star, Golden Star, Sable Wolf, Broken Shield, Great Eye, Golden Path, Pennant Spear, Hunter's Star, Dawn Sky, Black Axe, and Summer Lightning.

The Blue Hawk, Golden Star, Sable Wolf, and Black Axe was given symbols and you can find those symbols in red, gold and white on their HH transfer sheet (which is strange since in the book showing those brotherhoods the Blue Hawk's symbol is blue, and Sable Wolf's and Black Axe's are black but they don't appear in those colours on the sheet). If you (or anybody else) want to do a chapter based on the Sable Wolf Brotherhood could you just use the Space Wolf symbol, and any kind of raptor symbol for a chapter based on the Blue Hawk Brotherhood.

The HH WS also had some specialist formations with cool names that could become chapter names (like the Ultra's Nemesis chapter): the Karaoghlanlar a.k.a. the Dark Sons of Death, the WS Destroyers that answered directly to the Council of Seers. They were deployed in combat when the utter annihilation of the enemy was required, not just physically, but also, through ritual Chogorian rites, spiritually. as well as for certain ritual roles in the wake of key campaigns.
The Burgediin Sarhvu, a.k.a. the Falcon's Claws, that served as hunters and forward scouts, experts in survival and the quiet elimination of enemy commanders. And outside of combat acted as the keepers of those servo-raptors maintained by many brotherhoods as both symbols of their ancient heritage and battlefield reconnaissance assets.

And before the discovery of Jaghatai was the V:th Legion known as the Star Hunters, and was divided into Pioneer Companies. We know of the cognomen of five of them - Soul Hunters, Grey Ghosts, Void Devils, Lions of Thapsis, and The Enders - with the symbol of the last three also known.

There is also Jaghatai Khan's cognomen "the Warhawk", and the names of his weapons "White Tiger" power-dao and "Storm's Voice" archaeotech pistol, and his power-armour "Wildfire Panoply" that can all be used as inspiration for chapter names,

Not any names from the HH books but if you want to go real retro did the 1988 ‘Chapter Approved - The Book of the Astronomican’ supplement book have a presentation of the WS where they are very different from their current incarnation. In that presentation it’s mentioned that a unique formation within the Chapter are the “Souldrinkers”, veterans that excel in close combat and armed with power-swords and refractor fields. And another formation are the jump-pack equipped “Cobra Squads”.
Now there is already a “Soul Drinkers” chapter out there but since we know that there are many chapters that have more or less the same name, colours, and/or symbol as other chapters, so maybe there is also a chapter called Souldrinkers out there.

I think I see some references to the Rogue Trader-era IG-look in the silhouette of those new IG:s.

For the IG players there were also a new Kasrkin kill team

Now I'm waiting for the rough riders.

We also got a new Khorn champion:

A new campain event - that also show how the timeline is evolving

That we will get som new rules for indoor fighting, that will likley be a big part of the new campain

And a teaser for things to come, I think is going to be Dark Mechanicum:

I think I have burned a bit to much money the last weeks. Believing that GW was going to disconnect their Slaves of Darkness boxes based on the Warcry warbands (the homepage said that they were no longer available online then which usually means they are no longer in production) did I panic-buy the Cypher Lords, Untamed Beasts, Corvus Cabal and Iron Golem boxes - all boxes I have been planing to buy but in the future (their pages now say "Temporarily out of stock Online", and I have found out that the reason is that they are fixing some things with them for the new Chaos rules that are coming). So I did not need to buy them right now, that's some money I could have saved for later, or used for other stuff. While I was in panic mode did I also buy all the Freeguild boxes (ignoring the General on Griffon) since it was a kind of if "they are disconnecting the Slaves maybe the Freeguild is next" kind of thinking, and I have plans for those boxes.

My local GW store also did a closedown and reopening so you could get some exclusive miniatures and out of FOMO did I not only buy the ones that I had some interest in – the 40k ones and the kruleboy (his bird could be of use if nothing else) – but also the Stormcast ones, and the Bayard's Revenge model.

All in all a big hit to my wallet that I did not need to give it (at least not that big).

In personal painting news have I tried Contrast paint and I’m in love, I have found that it’s the kitbash, transfer application, and converting that I really like and find painting much more of something I just have to do (possibly because I find my hands not steady enough so I have problems with details and such). And Contrast paint makes things go so much faster.

I have also nearly finished my first miniature fully for War of the False Primarch:

He is a Firebreak, a DA successor that sided with the False Primarch and was destroyed for that. Only the transfers are missing - would have applied them buy now but my collection of transfers was left at a friends place after we hade been there and painted.

Finished Gaunt’s Ghost. Took 2 years and 19 days to do. 9/23/20-10/12/22. Fav was bk 6, least was bk 8.

Im so mad though with this ending
Yoncy and Dalin’s arc ensures that I will most likely NEVER reread these books again. What a massive disappointment after all that time to come apart for me in the last 100+ pgs. Just f you Abnett.

We talked about the Silver Skulls chapters gene-origin some time ago (a year or so), and I recently found this tweet by Scarer Cawkwell, the main writer about the Silver Skulls:

And if you open the replies she write that she originally planed to have them as White Scars successors, before being told by the powers that be that the Silver Skulls were of Ultra gene-stock.

The series is not finished, right? Do you plan to continue reading when new books will come out?
