I just had a feeling it was going to end badly for Tarin. I mean, she was doing good. She'd gotten Anakin to share hair ties already. Very sad, but very well done. The best heroes never get the girl anyway. :(

Off with her - wait a minute...

    [face_perplexed]

Yay! Ding dong - the witch is dead!

I liked that Des still calls to the darkside from time to time, nice ta know he hasn't forgotten what Daddy taught him. Liked how Anakin pulled him back, too - they really are there for each other.

Waiting with bated breath for the next part.

Bekah  Evil woman! Obi is what now? 58? I'm not sure he could keep up with a much younger version of himself? What do ya think? :D

LukesTheMan Thank you for delurking! :) I'm glad you have enjoyed this story.

Vadey I don't think Shai would have ever considered staying with Tarin. His concern for her certainly could have become an obstacle in returning to the Jedi though. :(

Shaindl I'm afraid the rest of this will be full of Shaikin mush. Birdy's favorite! :p

dp It will be okay dear. :)

Reihla I came to the decision that Tarin needed to be removed from the final picture. Poor Tarin! :_|

birdy You just like dark slightly evil men. :D Sick puppy you! :p

This post was originally two seperate ones. I decided to combine them so that I could get this story finished within the week. ;)

Big [:D] to Shaindl for her help with the second half of this. :)

    CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

Anakin entered the sitting area of their hotel rooms and paused to study the figure that sat crossed legged in the center of the floor. Shai?s eyes were closed, his chest slowly rising and falling. It was obvious that he was in the midst of a meditation that was not going well. Hands resting flat on top of his thighs, his fingers twitched, long lashes fluttering against his cheeks.

The young man had insisted that they remain long enough to attend a ceremony to lay Tarin to rest. As they had watched her body lowered into the ground, Shai had met his gaze and smiled somewhat mistily.

"I think it?s fitting that she ended up back on Tatooine," he had shared.

Lorcan had been left in charge of cleaning up the remnants of Jadon Lleu?s organization after the battle. The Corellian had plans to employ the majority of Jadon?s former men and make the organization a reputable one. Jabba had gleefully agreed to handle doling out punishment to Gythos for the part he played in the coverup. After Shai had gently but firmly turned down the Hutt?s offer of a job, the two Jedi and Desimir had returned to the hotel. Anakin had just come from discussing their next move with Desimir to find his apprentice struggling to center himself.

Turning in preparation to leave, Anakin was brought to a halt by the softly worded plea from the young man.

    "Don?t go."

He slowly turned back to find Shai studying him. "I don?t want to disturb your meditation."

Shai drew in a deep cleansing breath before addressing his concern. "Your presence sooths me. I?ve always found it easier to meditate when you are near."

Noting the pleased surprise his mentor wasn?t able to completely conceal, Shai proceeded to explain further. "I think part of the reason is because you are so powerful. You drown out much of the surrounding clutter when you are near. Another reason I?m sure is the bond we share."

Anakin moved forward and took a seat close to the younger man. Waiting until he was settled, Shai gathered his courage and spoke what was on his mind. Although it would be difficult, he knew it was imperative that they open a line of communication about the past year as soon as possible.

"The past year I have found it nearly impossible to meditate. Spending time with Tarin seemed to relax me enough so that I could at least make an effort," he shared slightly hesitantly.

"I am sorry about her death Shai. I know you cared for her and it was obvious that she loved you deeply," Anakin offered him in way of encouragement.

Shai could only imagine how difficult it was for the Jedi Master to make that admission after what Tarin had done to him. Studying the much beloved tanned features before him, Shai came to a startling realization.

"I?m not the only one who has changed over the course of the past year," he murmured in amazement.

Anakin shrugged, a self-conscious smile curving his lips. "I suppose that I have matured a bit. I was forced to learn patience as we dealt with the various beings we encountered during our search for you."

So Jade had a boy. And Adair is maybe force-sensitive? Perhaps Shai is going to be his Master? We shall see how that goes.

I guess this is winding down... :_| But in a good way. :D

    Yay! Adair has arrived!!!

I love how Anakin has matured throughout the saga. And I'm glad to see that Des' and Jade tied the knot - Now she has two children to look after, three if you count the cousin.

A wonderful feel good post all around - nice OE!

I loved the fact that the guys didn't know what to do with the new arrival! lol [face_laugh] That was priceless!

Evil woman! Obi is what now? 58? I'm not sure he could keep up with a much younger version of himself? What do ya think?

I think Obi can keep up with Shai! After all, he's got the force to guide him, and he's training Hale (meaning, if he can keep up with a Padawan at his age, he'll do fine), and he's a Jedi. I think he'll do just fine! :D Please o_e! (They really need a face icon for begging)

Edit: Besides, Obi himself trained under Xan for a short time. And Obi trained Anakin, who followed in his footsteps of also training under Xan for a time. What I'm getting at is that Anakin trained Shai using what he learned from both Obi and Xan and possibly a little he learned on his own. Meaning that Obi-Wan would be able to hold his own.

    Great Post!

    Epidural, please!

How typical that none of those men could handle a screaming baby. Then again, neither can I! Oops! :p

"If anything happens to my cousin because of that fool deCrion, I will personally remove his heart with a rusty spoon" LMFAO!!! You completely nailed Han.

I really liked how Shai said he couldn't even begin to meditate unless he was around Tarin, because it shows just how much he craves and needs love. He might not have loved Tarin, but she loved him to pieces, and hopefully he appreciates that. I also thought the promise he made to her was a nice touch - Shai's very big on keeping his word (otherwise, this story wouldn't exist!). And if Mace thinks Shai has to do some atoning and whatnot under the Council's direction, he can stick his electrum lightsaber in his ear - what Shai and Anakin needed was to rebuild the bond. And Dark Des! [face_love] That gave me chills, but I hope he never loses that touch of darkness.

My baby! :D Awww....but Des better wipe that "look of resignation" off his face, because he is SO doing his share of diaper duty. EDIT: re-read that part, and I just realized how sad that moment is. Seems like Des knows he'll be giving up his son to the Jedi. :_|

By the way, love the middle name you came up with!

edit: Is it me, or are the faces now animated? I see the heart in the love smiley beating, and I see the tears in the crying smiley flying. Am I losing my mind?!?

I thought you wanted to end the series with this offspring? Did you change your mind, oe?
First you let Xan give a short outlook into the future, which let out some of the characters. Now you hinted at the instant connection between Shai and the newborn child of Des and Jade. Thogher with Shai's comment that there will be two more children, you laid the foundation for the next offspring, Shai as Master of said child.

Or did I get this wrong?

Jade, the faces on my computer screen are still unanimated. Perhaps it depends on the software and its version that you are running. I wouldn't say you're just imagine things.

    [face_love] Vadey

Edit: Funny on the preview screen they were animated for the first few seconds. I think this clears the question about the faces. Hey people! I looked up the face code side, there are a lot of new faces including the one oe used and on for praying, I think you can use it to beg. [:D]

Sad to think we're winding down to the end, but I enjoyed the reunion and resolution between Anakin and Shai. I'm hoping they'll both return to the order and be stronger Jedi for their experiences. Hm. A new DeCrion boy (and two more kids to come!). That bodes well for the next generation. :D

Diane Thanks! :) I'm almost looking forward to having the series completed.

PK ;) Shai didn't stand a chance did he? :D

Birdy I do love ya, you big nut! [:D]

Bekah Good arguments! I'll see what happens. :D

Jade Shaindl came up with the middle name. I was going for just Khalid. :)

Vadey This is the end of the series. I may somewhere down the road write a completely OC based fic about Shai and his first apprentice. Not sure if it will ever see the light of day but I want to explore it never the less. :)

Reihla I'm glad an Anakin fan has enjoyed thie series. I've often wondered how he came across to true Anakin fans. Thanks for always offering me such kind words. [face_blush]

Not 100% satisfied with this one but oh well! I hope to get the epilogue up first of next week.

Wanted to offer :* and [:D] to all of you who have stuck with me on this. For those of you who may not visit the Writers Resource Thread, I have an interview over there. ;)
    Interview

    CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

Anakin stood alone in the private dockingbay and watched with mixed emotions as the Jedi transport set down. While he waited for the ramp to lower he drew in a deep breath in the hopes of settling his nerves. For the first time in over a year he was going to have to face Obi-Wan, the pain of their last confrontation still fresh in his mind. He knew that his former mentor had forgiven him for his behavior seconds after he had accused Obi-Wan of deserting Shai on Ruuria. It was now a matter of Anakin having to forgive himself.

As the ramp settled, a score of Desimir?s men rushed onto the vessel and began to unload a mass of personal belongings. Xanatos and Lady Asha had sent word that they would be returning to Telos for good. The couple wanted to spend as much time as possible with their son and his new family. Watching as the couple exited the ship, he wondered how the news had affected Obi-Wan. The Jedi Master and Xanatos had been nearly inseparable for a long time now.

Anakin pressed a kiss against the lovely woman?s cheek before shaking the hand that the once fallen Jedi held out to him. He was surprised when Xanatos pulled him close for a brief hug before standing back to peruse him.

"It?s wonderful to see you Anakin. How is Shai?" Xanatos inquired with genuine concern.

"He?s doing much better. It?s been a slow healing process but I can see the improvement already," Anakin shared, his expression growing serious as he met the older man?s gaze. "I?m sure that he will seek your counsel in the not too distant future."

"I will be happy to speak with him and do whatever I can to help. For now we are going to go see our new grandson," Xanatos responded with a pleased smile as he led Asha off.

Anakin turned back toward the transport and watched with great delight as a familiar figure strode toward him. Before any words could be spoken, he found himself caught up in a pair of strong arms. A muffled grunt escaped him as he struggled to escape the restricting hold. Finally managing to pull back, he warmly studied the handsome features before him.

"Damn it?s good to see you runt! I think you?re still growing," he exclaimed.

Jivan chuckled as he reached up to cup his padawan brother?s face between his hands. "You have no idea how much I?ve missed you big brother. I have someone I want you to meet."

Anakin eyed him curiously as Jivan turned to the small silent figure who watched their reunion with wide interested eyes. Instantly recognizing the boy, Anakin?s bewilderment only increased. He quickly took in the small braid that hung from behind one ear and the familiar sand colored tunics the boy wore.

"Hello Luke," he greeted the youngster with a smile.

Luke Organa grinned up at him before bowing deeply in respect. "Hello Master Anakin. It?s good to see you well."

Jivan placed a hand on the boy?s shoulder and pulled Luke t

I don't exactly understand why you weren't satisfied with this post - it was Wonderful! I enjoyed every second of it! :)

I love the relationships between Anakin/Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan/Shai and Anakin/Shai. The rest of the family too, but these three relationships seem to stand out. Qui-Gon taught Obi-Wan well in the matter of not listening to the 'no attachments' rule.

Does everyone know of Xan's vision? If not, wonder how Des and Jivan will respond when they find out - if Xan tells that is.

Can't wait for the epilogue - and the 'blowing off steam' saber match between Obi and Shai! [face_mischief]

I'm gonna miss this family! :(

Edit: Good arguments! I'll see what happens. It took me a while to plead a good case - as you probably noticed, I had to come back and 'edit' it to make it plausible! lol. :D

What a heartwarming family reunion. Beautyfully done as ever.

Anakin changing from Jedi Master to stuttering Padawan who had disapointed his Master in Obi's arms had a very nice touch. There was nothing left of the arogant selfasured Chosen One, he is now mostly reserved for Council Meetings.

    Love it. [face_love] [:D] Vadey

It was lovely. I liked that Anakin has finally calmed down but he is older now. I bet he saves his turbulence for the Council chamber - got to do something to shake those people up!

And the reunion between Obi-Wan and Shai was nicely done.

This fic is obviously winding down :_| Darn!

    Good job.

How did I miss a post? ARGH! This was lovely, absolutely perfect!

    "Don?t go."

He slowly turned back to find Shai studying him. "I don?t want to disturb your meditation."

Shai drew in a deep cleansing breath before addressing his concern. "Your presence sooths me. I?ve always found it easier to meditate when you are near."

I thought this was a great play on the words from AOTC.

A blond eyebrow lifted at his words. "Miss me speaking before thinking about what was going to come out of my mouth? Miss the way I plunge into the middle of trouble without thinking the situation through? Miss my constant battles with Des? I never thought the day would come that I would hear you say that."
    Yep, that's Anakin all right!

"Is it supposed to look like that?" Han blurted out, Anakin wincing at his lack of tact.

Desimir?s initial angered reaction quickly faded to one of concern. "Jade assures me that they improve quickly."

When words fail you, just say "Oh how sweet!" Han and move on.

The sting of tears caused the Jedi Master?s figure to blur slightly. Hands reached out to pull Anakin close for a warm hug. The younger man?s hands clutched folds of the brown robe as he clung to Obi-Wan, his chest rising and falling rapidly as the emotions nearly overwhelmed him.
Oh wow! Great reunion between Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Shai inhaled the familiar smell that could belong to no one but this man. It was the smell of love and family. Of unconditional acceptance. After the treatment he had endured under Jadon?s rule, Shai couldn?t soak up enough of his father?s loving aura.

Will not cry, will not cry...darn it. Too late!

A wonderful job but only the epilogue left? WAAAAA...

What a heartwarming post, OE! The emotions were loving and wonderful without being overly sappy and mushy, and Anakin and Obi-Wan were just wonderful. I loved how Obi brought up Qui at the end. Obi's Master would have loved all of them.

My absolute favorite is when Anakin realizes he was the padawan that Obi-Wan was trying to save on Ruuria. That was a beautiful exchange... :_| Your Obikin mush is always cry-worthy! :_| (gah! make it stop!)

Shai must be looking so adorable right now as a mini-Dark Obi. [face_love] I also liked the idea of Shai talking with Xan - he's so old, I think we keep forgetting he was a bad boy, too. :p

Bekah Thank you for always giving me so many good ideas as this monster of a series has gone along. I too have grown partial to the whole Obi/Ani/Shai relationship. [face_love]

Diane We're done. Thanks for sticking with this even though I know you may not have always agreed with the way Obi acted. ;)

VaderLVR Thank you for saying such kind things. Many times you have lifted my spirits when I've been down on my writing. So thrilled you are starting to get the recognition you deserve. :)

Shaindl I'm getting slow in my old age. [face_laugh] I couldn't have done this without you. If not for you than Shai may never have existed. :*

Jade I hope you enjoy seeing what I have done with your son. ;) Thanks for inspiring an OC and giving Des his own fan club.

dp The baby has grown up a bit. :D

I'm posting this for several reasons. One beause of the holiday weekend coming up and because it has kept me from working on Live. Hard to believe this thing began in December of 2002 because of a simple suggestion by Cascadia. You guys have been great by supporting me and the characters along the way. I couldn't and wouldn't have done this without your help. Special thanks of course have to go to Shaindl. You guys have no idea how much she contributed to each story along the way. You're the best doll! [:D]

    EPILOGUE- In The End

It was a time of reflection and a chance for those who lived their lives within the vaunted halls of the Temple, to pause and pay tribute to those they had lost. A time to temporarily put the outside galaxy on hold. Jedi who were not away on important missions came back to their home in order to celebrate with their brethren. Although the custom had been implemented fairly recently by the new head of the Council, it had already become a favorite of the Order as a whole.

As he made his way into the Gardens, Shai found his thoughts focused on those he and his family would be paying tribute to this day. Reaching the marble bench that was tucked in the arbor, he paused to study the spot with solemn eyes. This place had always been Obi-Wan?s special retreat. The very air surrounding it seemed to radiate with the Jedi Master?s spirit. In the absence of his presence, those closest to him often found their way here. They could find a sense of peace as if embraced by his arms.

Shai smiled wistfully and moved forward to take a seat on the marble bench. As he gazed out at the small pond nearby, he could see the kolo fish making lazy patterns in the clear blue waters. It was difficult for him to believe that four years had already passed since Xanatos had become one with the Force. The once fallen Jedi had requested that Obi-Wan pay him a visit; Xanatos haven grown too tired to travel himself. The two long time friends and padawan brothers had been sitting together in the garden on Telos in a peaceful silence. Obi-Wan had described feeling a sudden flood of love and warmth through their link only seconds before Xanatos had slumped against him.

Their initial feelings of grief and loss had quickly been tempered by the knowledge that Xanatos had gone just as he would have wished to. Without a fuss- quietly- and with his little one at his side. He had also been lucky enough to be around to witness the birth of his three grandchildren and spend quality time with them. The Council had been only to happy to allow a marker be placed in the Room of Memories in his honor. His ability to fight his way back to the Lightside of the Force was proof enough that he was still Jedi.

Releasing a deep cleansing breath, Shai smiled as he thought about his family. Jivan was bracing himself for the eminent knighthood of his apprentice. Luke had been preparing for his Trials for several months now. Jivan?s pride in the young man?s accomplishment was tempered by his sorrow at

    It's over! [face_plain] :( :_|

Great ending o_e! The family's growing larger with the addition of new padawan's - and there's plenty of love to go around.

Gotta be hard on Des though - only seeing his son on occasion, especially when Adair stated that his family was at the Temple. Hopefully, he and Des will have the chance to have a close relationship like Shai has with Obi-Wan.

And Anakin making the changes in the Order - 'bout time! Some things did need to be restructured.

Now, how about that friendly duel between Obi and Shai? The family can all be there to watch - that is if their not out on missions and such. Hope I'm not buggin you to much about this, I just think it would be cool to see. :)

I can't belive it's over, but it was wonderful! You did a great job with all of the characters.

Adair was so completely different from Shai that he oft times found himself at a loss as to how to handle the boy. The ten year old in many ways reminded him of the boy in the stories Obi-Wan told of a young Anakin.

I thought this was both touching and funny. Poor Shai!

Great ending. I loved how you tied everything up (even though I expected you to kill off Obi-Wan in the epilogue!). I found it vastly amusing that Anakin is head of the Jedi Council and making swift and overdue changes to the way children are brought to the Temple.

It was nice that you did let Xan go into that good night!

And the young ones are all grown up. Well, most of them.

Lovely job. I'm just sorry that it's over. :_|
