Someone about the Predator 2 design with the mask off freaks me out more than the OG not sure how they modified it though

 

I think the City Hunter (and generally Predator 2 designs) are pointyer. More threatening, the jaws are longer and closer together. Colour is slightly different too

You know...just watching the trailer...I didn't have a problem with the new predator look.

But seeing it side by side with the rest of them...it does stand out some.

I know most of the chatter has been about the dreads, but I'm looking at the prominent crown on all the others.

Even the Feral one from Prey has it.

For the new predator, it's almost just a large forehead with a part in the middle.

I guess I never knew how much a feature to the character design that really was.

 

Lambert and Jerry are riding the train during rush hour, according to Jerry. The film jumps to being past nine, when Harrigan arrives on the scene. The fight between Harrigan and the City Hunter is in the slaughter house district, and the fight itself was very short. Remember that the smell of butchered meat is awful in the summer heat. No one is hanging out on the rooftops and few have open windows.

 

Just rewatched AvP. This has aged quite a bit both in terms of visuals and tone. If it was more modern she would have been a galboss no question. Here she was just using commonsense and putting 2 and 2 together with an occasional very lucky kill and it was fabulous popcorn without being eyebrow raising. The ending is really funny cause how the hell is she suppose to survive being on an island off Antarctica? I really hope there was some crew left on the ship..

I may pull out that old AvP book Prey just for fun.

Hmm do I really want to watch AvP 2 though? Idk.

Just finished AvP 2 and it was.......down right......great. What?! Like for real WHAT? I mean it ain't 1 or 2 but that was deliciously brutal! The body count in this one is a franchise height. Kids getting face huggers/bursting. Pregnant moms having their unborn children be replaced by a litter of Xenos. Main gal squeeze getting skerwed to the wall. Entire town getting nuked to oblivion. Just brutal. I'd be curious if yall find this one as good on a rewatch like me. Totally surprised me as I wasn't into it at the time.

If AvP 1 is Pred centric AvP 2 is Aliens time to shine.

That said most of it is REALLY hard to actually see.. way to dark and fast and cheaper looking effects imo.

Geniually curious to hear any thoughts if anyone rewatches it soon if thoughts on it change today.

 

Glad you like it, but for me AvP2 is about the worst in the franchise, aside from maybe The Predator, and it is very difficult to try to rewatch.

I am one of those people that likes AvP though, although it should have been allowed to be an R picture. I'd probably rank it 4th after Predator 2, Prey, and the original which is tops of course.

 

I'm still amazed i not only that I threw it on but that it was a completely different take on it on my end. I did not like that movie when new and it is the least watched on my end. I think that was only the 3rd time.

Just finished up OG. Dutch may have saved himself alot of pain if he took his shot while laying down as it stalked by unaware of him.

I think City Hunter and Feral are the two scariest to me. I really like the pointy crown on the City Hunter and the mouth on the Feral one seems like the scariest mouth to me for some reason.

The one I really hate is Berserker. I don't like that "exposed brain" look at all.

 

Finished tors... what a stinker. Only bright spots in this were the Yakuza guy and Topher Grace/Walter Goggins twisted arcs. The introduction of the Alphas is highly annoying. Preds have gotten worse and worse looks wise since 1. Even if we get something close to the color tone of 1 it's ruined by flappy skin and a constant over done roaring segment. It maybe their thing but it's getting just done to death...

Also Brody was a rotten leading man.. like holy hell do better casting department! What was up with him constantly sounding like he was talking with a mouthful of water... gah

 

I think they were trying to get him to have a gravelly voice, and that is what we got.

They should've dubbed over him, but that would've been a fiasco that would've overshadowed the film, most certainly.

I was ok with Predators, if for nothing else than to restore the "Predator Only" franchise.

The action was decent, as was the alien location. The flip of putting the humans in an alien environment was clever, with a couple surprises, but not horribly distracting or corny.

While Brody was something of a miss, most of the supporting cast were very good. Laurence Fishburne popping up in the middle was nuts.

 

Greg Nicotero worked on the original film and this film. He largely copied the original design, but tweaked it to denote it being a different one. Plus, they probably used silicone instead of latex.

Daniel Pearl worked on that film as the cinematographer. He's best known for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and it's 2003 reboot, and the "Friday The 13th" reboot.
