    She "failed" to come up with a better line of dialogue.

    The failure concerning dialogue was GL's fault. I have always gotten irked at this part of the film because technically she didn't fail. The whole purpose of the decoy is to attract the threat to the decoy. Apparently, she succeed in this endeavor because she got "owned" rather than Padme Amidala Naberrie. This was just another stupid flaw in the film...that's all in my book.

    You're all complaining because a woman who was BLEEDING to death says something that doesn't make sense!?!

    No.

    We're complaining because a man whose entire career has pretty much rode on the success of him writing these things gave a nonsensical line to "a woman whose BLEEDING to death."

    Corde should have been a handmaiden in Episode I. I think we would feel "closer" to the handmaidens if they were the same in each movie. It would have made Corde's death more tragic. But no, new ones in every episode.

    Episode I Handmaidens:
    Sabe
    Sache
    Yane
    Rabe
    Padme
    Eirtae

    Episode II Handmaidens:
    Dorme
    Corde
    Verse

    What is the pattern here? Is there one? I just don't know. Maybe Jamilla's handmaidens were the same ones Amidala had.

    Jabba-wocky: You should try to escape reality. Uhhh... but not the way I'm doing it...

    I have no idea the handmaidens even really had names. They pretty much just seemed like extras to me, and if I was attached at all, it was to their office/position, not any particular one. And then only when they were wearign those funny orange robes.

    And I need to escape from reality??? I'll take that one as a compliment. . .

    . . .I think. . .

    Corde owed Padme 250 credits. So Padme ran over and although you didn't hear it cause it was a whisper, she said, "You owe me, <censored>. You still owe me."

    Which you get her rather witty reply.

    Maybe Corde thought the next thing to happen was an inevitable death for Padme. Perhaps she thought the entire plantform was doomed, oh wait. That still doesnt equate to failure on her part.

    Ok, its just a line Lucas thought would be dramatic regardless of its senselessness. We can stop pretending that Lucas has scripting skills. His writing is good for the OT and was cool writing then. The problem here is that he didnt step up his game over the years. I will still watch the films but understand this. I have read better diolog in comicbooks, and heard better lines in anime movies. And the diolog in anime movies are really bad. Lucas lines can make a good actor come off like the fat kid in the school play who is being fed his lines by his Mother in the front row.

    AOTC has its fair share of confusing or irritating lines, I'm afraid. :(

    Maybe the annoying will later turn into the endearing. The whiny "Toshi station" line was a collective treat for viewers of the Special edition. I remember it being like sitting in the livingroom with a bunch of friends and everyone chuckled and laughed even right before it was said. What Corde said may not be a memorable line now or later but I just wanted to say that.

    Corde's job was to sucessfully get 'Amidala' to Coruscant, vote on the MCA, then back to Naboo without harm. Corde being killed totally blew the fact that PADME was indeed on Coruscant again - returning for the vote. The original scene was a little more of a tear jerker, IMO. It's a shame that they cut they Loyalist Committee being on the landing as well. That would have been far more interesting to the whole scene.

    Padme makes
    No mistake
    On how she came to serve;
    "When Queen Jamillia asked me,
    I couldn't say no to her";

    George seems, here,
    To make it clear
    Jamilia pulled the strings;
    But he also told
    Us Palp controlled
    Damn near everything...
