Now, I know I've missed a WHOLE bunch of good stories that have appeared in the Insider magazine. And there are even more I've read but would love to reread again.

Is there any chance of appealing to them to republish them as an anthology. You could publish them by Era. Old Republic, Fall of the Republic, Rise of the Empire, Empire/Rebellion, New Republic, NJO, etc.

I would bet there is enough out there to get at LEAST one book per era. And definitely include anything from the Gamer Magazine.

Any support for this? and who should we petition to get it done?

    Me IV.

So many Insider short stories out there, it would be great to put them in one book.

Idg why they don't just release them for free online or in a cheap ebook bundle. I guess it would cut into the huge profit they're making off not having them available at all.

I agree--the argument has always been that collections don't sell well enough to justify print publishing, but the dawn of eBooks seems to offer a fair enough alternative.

Is that really the case, though? I always thought the three big Tales From books (Cantina, Jabba's Palace, Bounty Hunters) sold fairly well. Then again I know nothing of sales figures, so that's just me assuming. :p

The fact that we haven't had an anthology book in a while should be an indication that they have no faith in the idea.

Then again considering Star Wars EU has always had an insular audience, I dunno why they at least try to do it again. Or does Del Rey operate under the same delusion that movie studios do in that only stuff that has the Big Three sell?

Well we did just recently get the LTotS anthology. Dunno how well it sold though.

Maybe it has something to do with compensating the authors.

I don't know how well it sold, either, but I know I wasn't expecting it to be a completely different size book than the other paperbacks...

I'd love to see it since we didn't get the Insider fiction here in the UK til well after it started.

I just overhauled the list of short stories on Wookieepedia yesterday - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_short_stories. I went through every Sourcebook and Galaxy Guide and man...every few pages there was a short story, and the majority don't even have articles on Wookieepedia, let alone any indication of when they took place. One can only assume.

Just getting all of the short stories listed is a daunting task. I can't imagine organizing and publishing them.

I'd be fine if they just stuck to the fully independent stories and didn't bother with the sourcebook vignettes and prose/RPG hybrids. There's only around 150 or so of the former. AFAIK this is all of them:

Some of the old short stories from the sourcebooks are actually legit reading material, whereas some of the actual short stories, like the Hasbro collection for example, are barely worth reading. Or God forbid the Stele Chronicles or Farlander Papers. The only thing I took away from those stories is the knowledge that 20 years ago there were people even geekier than us.

Just republish the entire sourcebook, I'm sure they're all full of worthwhile non-prose bits as well.

And what the hell is "The Tale of the Aiwha Pod" about?
