Hm, so then does stealing other people's pants for coolness factor run in the family? [face_peace]

    Excellent! :) :D

Now the question is, will young Max be hunting Rogue Squadron after they killed his father? [face_batting]

Or he just "borrowed" the Bloodstripes themselves---they're removable, after all. But I agree that the "stolen pants" subplot is the best fix.

A subtle hint at the web enhancement, eh? :p

Does it include Sardu Sallowe, from the other Underworld? Wanna retcon him as being an Anomid? You know you want to, Abel... [face_mischief] [face_batting]

You know, LOTF could really do with a major "stolen pants" subplot.[face_whistling]

This conversation's taken an abrupt right turn....

all we need now is people replacing relevant Star Wars lines with "pants" again :p

Lando also stole Han's entire wardrobe at the end of Empire Strikes Back...

I'm lucky enough to have a local shop that imports it. [face_dancing]

Star Wars Hyperspace is so worth the money :)

You wanna know the truth behind Lando's vendetta against Han?

Why, he failed to steal his heart.

Yeah, Lando has bloodstripes on the cover of Scoundrel's Wages because he's borrowing Han's wardrobe at that point.

Anyway, with Lando's birthplace finally revealed, we could do with some appearances by his folks. I always got the hint that Lando came from a normal background-- upper middle class, at least.

Plus, Lando's dad could be a crotchety old guy who complains about his wife offering tree fiddy to random dianogas.

Aww. But the continuity tomatoes are so ripe this time of year . . .

Y'know, all kidding aside, I actually did think about this before I posted what I did above. It seems to me that Lando's little maneuver at Taanab is the exact *opposite* of what Bloodstripes are usually awarded for. Bloodstripes are normally awarded for heroism or sacrifice after deliberation; if you have time to think about doing the right thing, know it's going to hurt if you do it, and do it anyway, that's the kind of heroism Corellians recognize with the 'stripe.

Lando at Taanab was sort of the exact opposite; he bragged some, someone bet he couldn't stop them, so he hopped in his ship and almost casually won the bet with some strategy, Conner nets, and fancy flying. It was heroic, it showed his quick strategic thinking and worthiness to be a general, but it wasn't the sort of thing Bloodstripes are normally handed out for. In my opinion, anyway.

However, I will have to hit you with a spelling tomato. As wrong as it feels (I had to correct my spelling several times myself), it's Taanab, not Tanaab.

We know he lived a fairly normal life with his mother, at the very least, until 17 (maybe beyond). There's an offhand remark in the Lando Trilogy, when he first picks up Vuffi Raa. "I haven't had servants for a very, very long time indeed," so that seems to point to him coming from a rich background.

How about this thought Lando has from Scoundrel's Wages:

"Mother Calrissian, what has your favorite son got himself into this time?"

Moichendising! I agree, a generic shirt like that probably would sell, but Lucasfilm really isn't in the business of sharing profits with freelance writers.

    What's a vuole?

Have you seen the piece yet, Thanos6? If you wanna split hairs, it's not an omniscient POV.

    Cool... thanks!

Gosh Cade, where did you dig up that old fossil?

I wonder if they use some special space age stuff to keep them afixed or is just plain old velcro?

    My lips are sealed.

    Take care,
    Abel

Mother Calrissian also gave him advice on relaxing: Never stand when you can sit, and never sit when you can lie down. Of course sitting in the chair of the head of Alpha Blue is a bit different...

The lizard that Mohs spit-roasts and then eats by peeling it off the stick in MINDHARP OF SHARU.

No, I don't have a subscription and I haven't seen it at a newsstand yet. But hearing that it's not omniscient, well, that's nice. :)

No need to worry; there's no such thing as an omniscient POV, anyway.

Someday, I'm going to get around to writing that blog on suspension of disbelief requiring all works to be in-universe . . .

Anyone else here notice that "Taanab" is an anagram of "Bataan", and island on which a battle was fought during WWII?[face_thinking]

Only if Lando's grandfather is also introduced as a nod to the old 3SA days... ;)
