There's a reason that porn is not to be accessible until you're the age of 18. They want you to actually be mature enough to be capable of incorporating it into a healthy sex life.

Of course, it seems by your stance that you're in the "Sex is ugly, and is a necessary evil used strictly for reproduction purposes only", camp.

it's against god and it's creation. the purpose of the penis is to produce..not waste the gene pool and abuse it. the human body was meant to be used for good, not for pleasure.

Here are my thoughts on the matter. I have no read the thread, so pardon me if this has already been said.

We know pornography is wrong from the verse that says "I tell you the truth, whosoever look upon a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart." The whole point of pornography is lusting after women. QED.

As for masturbating, I have found no verse to explicitly forbid it (I personally think the Onan argument is a little weak). However, if you masturbate while having sexual fantasies, you are committing adultery in your heart, which the verse above condemns. But I can't find any objection to masturbating without fantasizing, except that it is somewhat addictive and a waste of time. I personally choose not too, but that doesn't mean you can't as long as you don't fantasize.

 

Out of marriage, I mean. If you are married, I see nothing against fantasizing and masturbating all you want.

 

Any married person who says that they absolutely don't fantasize sexually about anyone other than their partner is a liar.

 

It's really ironic that masturbation is really an ability and a gift given from God, yet it's considered to be such a taboo.

I can see your point. However, that could really be said of anything a human being is physically capable of doing. And it's really little more than the "If God meant for humans to fly, he would've gave us wings" argument.

Jaden: I think Abomb was responding to the original context of the thread. Which was a devout Christian user asking other Christians (and informed non-Christians) about the commonly accepted views on masturbation within traditional Christian teachings. As such, "we" probably refers to Christians, not to the population at large.

 

I can't find the original post you quoted this from, so I don't really know the context, but God was mad at him because he told him to make a baby with his brother's widow(now his wife), and he didn't do it, not because he spilled it on the ground directly. Dude wasn't masturbating either, so I don't know how that is relevant to the conversation.

 

There are still people around that think masturbation is wrong? Seriously?

I'm not going along with the "gift from God" stuff, but your analogy makes no sense. Humans require artificial constructs to fly; all masturbation takes is a hand.
