Is Obi-Wan, Ben Skywalker's real name ?

We all know that Luke Skywalker named his son after his Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. But he named him Ben after Obi-Wan's name when he went into hiding from the Empire. Is his name really Obi-Wan, execpt they call him Ben for short like the original Ben Kenobi?

Nope. Just Ben.

 

Luke knew what Obi-Wan's actual name was. But he really only knew him as Ben Kenobi despite knowing he was really Obi-Wan Kenobi. So he chose the name he knew his old mentor by and not his actual name. So Ben Skywalker is really Ben Skywalker and not Obi-Wan Skywalker.

 

Benjamin Skywalker.

They had considered the nick Bennie, but too many cab drivers have that name.

I believe in Rebirth it was said that Luke named him Ben after his old mentor because he did not what his son having the burden of living up to the name Obi-Wan.

 

Yeah, no way in hell a Skywalker is going to live up to that name.

What's wrong with it? What's wrong with any name? Nothing really.

It's just not what his parents chose for him to have. And that's all there ever was to it.

 

I agree with JadedSkycrawler, no matter what his name is, everyone will just call him "kid" anyway. But his name is Ben, I'm pretty sure, otherwise wouldn't Luke and Mara say "This is our son Obi-Wan, but we just call him Ben."?

 

Because they saw what having the name "Anakin" did to the youngest Solo kid? Both Anakin and Obi-Wan (the prequel ones) were failures, so...yeah...

I don't see how Obi-Wan was a failure. Not his fault that Anakin chose the quick and easy way.
