Hayes Quits "South Park" as voice of "Chef"

And get this, the reason he's leaving: Because they made fun of Scientology.

Oh well, I really don't care about Chef leaving since I've only seen like 7 episodes. Now if his parents were leaving, then I'd be a little disappointed. Chef's parents are halarious.

I may be alone in my opinion about this but I personally don't think South Park is all that funny anyway. Give me Simpsons any day.

Yes, Isaac Hayes is a $cientologist as is the woman who does the voice for Bart Simpson.

South Park is funny, but maybe Isaac Hayes wants to leave the show before SP looses its market share and favorable ratings.

 

I used to be a South Park NUT back in Middle School. I haven't seen a full episode since. So, no, I don't care much if Hayes leaves...

OMG!!!!!! I knew this would happen!!!!!!! I saw the episode about scientology where they ripped on it, and I was thinking wow, Issac Hayes is a scientologists, he might get a little offended about this.

Everytime I saw that episode I was thinking he could get offended. Wow, that sucks.

 

Difference is, Jesus is a big boy and he can take it!

 

well we did see what he can do in that save Santa ep.

But they need to give a reason as to why he's leaving in the show(the character Chef). Have him go to Greenland or something to see the elephants

I agree 100% with every one of those sentiments!

 

They've made fun of Jews, Christians, Muslims, Mormons-- I don't remember a Hinduism or Buddhism episode, but I'm sure they'd have those. But Scientology is one of the easiest religions to make fun of (not that the others are all that difficult). If he wants to be a pompous ass, so be it.

 

"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem ? and he's cashed plenty of checks ? with our show making fun of Christians."

Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

I think the reply is spot on and correct, good for them and more power to them.

 

Yep. Sad to see the Chef character disappear from the show, but the circumstances certainly make Hayes' departure less unfortunate.
