I've just got through watching the final episode of Season 2. I've gotta say that this show is so well done; I'd imagine every one of the main characters have their own fanbase. There were essentially three stories intertwined throughout most of the season, and of course it all culminated in a climatic final showdown featuring all of the characters with a common goal. Personally, my favorite group were the Crows gang; led by Kaz Brekker. Each member of his gang has their own perks and characteristics, and the show certainly gives the characters their moment in the spotlight. I won't spoil anything, but although most of the story featured in the first two seasons has been resolved by the end, the final episode of Season 2 certainly leaves room for more story. I haven't read any of the books, so while I'd assume that future seasons would follow an established narrative, I couldn't tell you what to expect offhand. But I'm looking forward to it and of course am hopeful that the series will get renewed for Season 3.
My question after finishing season 2 of this show: Spoiler With the Darkling dead, the new king (and Alina's husband) under the influence of some shadow monster, and esp. with what we saw of Alina herself in that final scene... Is Alina Starkov going to be the Big Bad from now on? Will Mal be fated to fight against the one he loves? Note that I've never read the books, so I have no idea what happens next.
That's what I was wondering as well. Spoiler There were hints along the way that Alina should be careful not to get too power hungry, right? And is Mal presumably the "light" just because he was the firebird? I thought Alina took on whatever powers he had when she used it to get rid of the Fold and kill the Darkling. But if not him, then who? Again though, I'm still more interested in the Crows' story. The ending had Inej going on a quest (without Kaz) to find her family; and then later we see Kaz recruiting Jesper and the others (minus Inej) for a new mission to find out about that weird drug. It's interesting, as I've watched a S&B Panel from NYCC last October, where the author brings up the notion that the series diverted almost immediately from the novels in that the Crows characters had never met with Alina, the Darkling, and the characters from their story. They were two separate series of novels in the "Grishaverse".
Shadow and Bone Author 'Heartbroken' By Netflix Cancellation Well that's pretty disappointing. I enjoyed that show and I'm going to miss the characters. I guess Netflix just couldn't handle the budget for the sets, costumes, extras involved in the series.
It was a good show and I'm sad to see it go. The cast are all very talented and will no doubt go on to star in other projects.
A lesson as old as time itself: Don't get too attached to any Netflix show, for it could be canceled at a moment's notice. Welp, I guess I got my answer to this question. Which is no. Because there will be no Big Bad or anything going forward.
I haven't paid attention to the show's ratings; but I can't imagine it was so off that they decided it just wasn't worth it to renew. This wasn't like Disney's Willow series that was review-bombed to hell.
Am I reading this wrong? The masses and "fans" are tired of the movie theatre because they can just watch streaming at home. So you get streaming at home and then...don't watch that either?
Dammit. Outside of Mike Flanagan and the last season of Stranger Things, I have no interest in Netflix shows anymore.
Cancellation is sad, but at least there was more resolution at the Season 2 finale, even if there were still open plot threads. I'm still more bummed over Netflix cancelling the Dark Crystal prequel after just 1 season.
Show me where I suggested that The Golden Girls was a new show. I've re-read my post a number of times and cannot see it. The sad thing is that I was recently browsing programs available on Netflix and the behind-the-scenes documentary of Age of the Resistance had come up.
This series was good but i felt Netflix itself never promoted it as deserved. They never gave the "premium content advertsement" treatment that even Jupiter Legacy received.
Better. It starts off kind of slow, but the characters really gravitate towards you in the latter episodes of Season 1.
I thought S1 was a huge…meh. Didn’t bother with S2. I’ve been seeing people angry about it the last two days and while I really don’t get it with this show I get it when it comes to Netflix cancelling things. Sometimes those people are frustrating.
