Artist Iverna's art--updated 28. August with Han, Leia, the Solo kids, Jack Sparrow, and Eric Northman

Thank you very much, my dear! I have indeed been busy. My art muse has struck me with a vengeance! Not that I'm complaining, and it's great that you like my latest work.


And speaking of that, I have a new one to share. It's been ready for a while, I'm having problems with dA these days so I had to wait until I could use my mother's computer to upload this. But yes, here's the next installment, Jacen Solo and Tenel Ka Djo:

This is pretty much how I see these two. Jacen as a younger, slightly "prettier" version of Han, with curlier hair (I used Anakin Skywalker's as a reference here) and that laid-back, friendly charm. Tenel Ka as a cool, collected warrior princess with more emotion than she lets on. I love their dynamic, that competitive, yet affectionate relationship they have. Here, he's probably poking her to tell her a joke or harangue her in true Solo fashion, and she's more amused and fond of him than she's letting on.

I'm a bit more nervous about this one than the others so far, since I'm not really taking post-NJO canon into account very much. Or even the NJO, maybe. But this is my interpretation of them, and I do hope you guys like it!

Very nice! I like Jacen's scruffy hair and Tenel Ka's braids. On the YJK books, whenever they tried to draw braids I thought it looked like Tenel Ka had scaly tentacles coming out of her head. Yours are a million times better!

And don't worry about not taking the NJO and on into account, most of the time I prefer to ignore that part of the canon anyway.

 

You know, I'm really glad that you covered her arm. Personally, I'm not much of a fan seeing Tenel Ka with just one arm, even though it's part of her. Still...it's just odd.

Jacen is cute.
See, even in pictures he isn't an alpha male! 'Cuz he's cute.

As I said before, I love the way Tenel Ka is giving him that wary look. I love you but I can't be with you because I don't know what the others would say...
Jacen doesn't seem to care, though. He seems brash and cocky, like his Dad.

Haha, oh wow, you're right. I remember thinking the same thing, especially on the Lost Ones cover. I love drawing braids, though. They're fun!

And yeah, I tend to ignore canon at this stage as well. And the point of this series is to show couples in love, not torn apart by random struggles and so on, so yeah. I'm glad you approve!

Heh, yeah... actually, it never made much sense to me that she wouldn't get a robotic replacement at some point, once she got over her teenage independence-defiance phase... so I covered it, so I can pretend she got one without getting people jumping all over me for it. *lol*

Yeah, you're right. Jacen is far too cute to be an alpha male. I just want to cuddle him and steal his shoes. *lol*

But yeah, I guess he doesn't care what other people think. Well, the Jacen in my head doesn't, anyway. And I am really really happy that his resemblance to his Dad is coming across because that's downplayed or ignored FAR too often in canon, I think.

It's copied from two of my favourite photos of her. She's such a small cat and I think she's just adorable. My grandfather really likes the picture as well, so I'm happy!

Then someone over in the Kyp Durron fan club mentioned that Josh Holloway would make a good Kyp, and Ceillean told me, and I immediately had to try it out. So I got out my sketchbook and did these while watching Germany vs. Kazakhstan:

I know, doesn't look much like Sawyer, does he? But then again, he's not really supposed to. It does help to have a reference as a starting point, though, and I do like his smirk. *lol* I'm currently working on a digital painting based on the right-hand sketch in the first picture. It's coming along fairly well so far, I think. I'll post it here when it's finished, but if you want a preview, here you go:

It's based on one of the sketches I posted last time, although yes, it has changed a LOT in the process. I'm ridiculously proud of it, and I'm really glad that the Kyp Durron Fanclub (especially Ceillean; you know this is your fault really ) inspired me to give Kyp another try. I'm really happy with this one. The background took me a long time but it was really fun to do and I'm kind of in awe at how it turned out.

Kaylee is adorable and Kyp looks great! I slightly prefer Kyp in the sketch to Kyp in the painting, I'm not really sure why. But the background of the painting is wonderful, I love the colors and the texture!

Tarsier - thaaaank you! =D I had fun with the background. And funny you should prefer the sketch, that happens to me far too often as well that I prefer a sketch to the finished thing. There's something about sketches that you just can't capture in a painting... maybe it's the spontaneity and liveliness? I dunno. Anyway, thanks!

Another one? Another one. Yeah. So I found some pencil brushes for PS and decided to try them out on a couple of sketches. I wound up with another Kyp Durron piece:

... and a sketch of a guitar player. He's not meant to be anyone in particular, I doodled him one day in a lecture, but several people have told me that he looks like Jacen Solo. Hippie!Jacen, apparently. Anyway, here he is:

These were actually fairly quick sketches, only took me an hour or two each, and it was fun playing around with the brushes. So yeah - hope you like them!

 

Yes Jacen Solo and I love the looks of him and Kyp and the colours giving the pieces an ancient look

Love the guitar player! I can definitely see him as Jacen. I like the subtle colors, and a very neat effect.
