On Rebels Jacen looked like Howdy Doody crossed with DC's Creeper.

 

anyone think he's due to show up on Resistance?

 

If there's any link to Rebels, it should probably be him. If only for the convenience of his age.

 

I was just wondering something; if Cham survived through the end of the Empire, what do you think his reaction - at least the initial one - would be when he sees Hera's son is more human than Twi'lek? Do you think he'd accept him right away?

 

he's supposed to be big on family, hence why a lot of people took issue with the intial Rebels episode with Cham. I doubt he'd look down upon Jacen.

 

I feel like Cham would love him. And probably even want to teach him how to be a better fighter and leader.

 

did Kanan and Hera get married at some point to ensure that Jacen is a legitimate, legal heir to the Caleb Dume fortune?

 

I think I may have missed that part in either A New Dawn or the Kanan comics where he was supposed to come from a wealthy family.

You know what bugs me about Jacen? The lack of Twilek ethnic traces.

 

I mean, he's literally on screen for like 5 seconds. He could have a Twi'lek accent for all we know.

If you mean characteristic of the species, well, that's not how science works. Phenotypes and Punnett Squares and all that. Also Star Wars and science aren't exactly amicable companions.

 

Yes, I was talking about characteristic of the species. The only answer is that Star Wars and science don't go together. A real life stupid example but an example anyway: Donkeys and horses offspring show genetic traces of both, the same goes for Zebras and horses.

 

Well his mother doesn't normally use one. Unless, of course, little Jacen was really proficient at getting her mad...

 

I'm pretty sure his green hair is meant to represent his genetic Twi'Lek ancestry.

 

Correct unless Star Wars is going to start having humans with green hair.

 

Never liked his green hair.

Maybe Sabine dyed it for him, because he wants to be more like his mommy.

and given that they were at the Imperial Academy - it would be a little odd for them to have dyed it.

Personally, I think Jacen's very clearly human appearance is indicative of their intention to use him in some way later down the line - or to at least leave the possibility open. Humans are almost always the lead characters in Star Wars after all. Maybe this is in Resistance, maybe he is just a hook for some future writer to pick up, who knows, but I doubt we have seen the last of him.

Jacen's skin also has a very light green tint to it that's understandably hard to see in-episode

I'm aware of that. But that's a separate issue from it being a good design. Greenish-tinged human boy is just not the most inspired approach.

Well, I think it was nice to have Jacen added into the end of Rebels, gave a nice feel and reminded us Kanan was still around. I think his appearance could have been done better, not quite sure how though. Maybe they could have made him with a different skin tone, but human features? I'm not sure on that approach, it's not the greatest or easiest thing to design, so I think they did him well.
As for if he'll appear in Resistance, possibly. It would be a good way to add his character in and expand it. I'd think he'd take on his mother's love of flying, so there's that factor. I'm sure Disney would enjoy adding in a Force-Sensitive pilot, it'd mix things up a bit.
