Let me know if there's an offical thread, but I came across these books by accident and I'm currently going through them. They're good!

For the uninformed, the Camulod chronicles are a series of nine books written by jack Whyte about the Arthurian legan, but Whyte goes back further and talks about the forging of excalibur and the inception of Camelot (Camulod).

Anyone else read them? I'm just about to start The Saxon Shore

    The Skystone
    The Singing Sword
    The Eagles Brood
The Fort at the River's Bend
    The Sorcerer: Metamorphosis
    Uther
    The Lance Thrower
    The Eagle

I know I've read the first couple and I think I have up to The Fort at River's Bend in my reading pile. I thought the ones I read were pretty good but getting them locally is a Sith. Forbidden Planet in London is about the closest place that has them unless I use Amazon. And it's been awhile since I've been to FP because of time constraints. (If I worked in central London I'd probably spend all my extra money
there!) So I've kinda lost touch with the series.

Nope (there's an index stickied at the top if you ever need to check).

I've seen these in the bookstores, but I haven't gotten into them. I've actually gone on a somewhat anti-Arthur kick; the stories are always really sad.

Well, we can just talk about the arly ones then, Fett? (BTW, haven't had a chat to you since the 3SA days)

What I liked about them was the detail, particularly the blacksmithing. He really did his homework, Whyte. He has somewhat bastardised the Arthur myth, though. Merlin and Uther are cousins, Merlin's mother is the sister of Uther's grandfather. Merlin was also married to Deirdre, one of Ygraine's sister's who had an affair with Uther while she was married to Lot. So Merlin is Arthur's cousin and uncle.

To top off this intricate family tree, Merlin's half-brother is Ambrosius Aurelius.
