Remember the days of speculating that Naboo would turn into Dagobah by the end of the prequel trilogy? Or that Kamino would freeze and turn into Hoth? Fun times.

I remember LFL teased super-cropped images every week or so during the build up to AOTC and we debated for months what Dooku's door hangar meant.

Other then Ahch-To, a planet from the Saga that needs to show up, especially if the setting is pre-man made hyperdrive, is Coruscant.

Unlike Tatooine, we already know how Coruscant changed. Thousands of years of being the center of the Old Republic resulted in one large city.

But 25,000 years ago prior to the Republic, while there should be cities, there is still plenty of green and oceans still exist.

Also with Coruscant being the birthplace of mankind, it holds further importance in this era. The prime Jedi is probably human, and I think the audience should be told humanity came from this planet.

I’d like to see the Rakata invade ancient coruscant and either set up camp there or just kidnap humans and enslave them to other worlds. An explanation that gives us humans in various parts of Rakata controlled space, off Coruscant without resorting to their own hyperdrives.

By the time of the Sith, while most of Coruscant should be one big city, there is still at least one big mountain (and I’m sure green). We know there used to be a mountain where the Jedi Temple was later built in its ashes. A mountain that the Sith built a shrine on.

As far as Space whales (free ones and ones retrofitted with tech to ride). Maybe something like this: they could almost be seen as Star Destroyers in essence. When one shows up it's scary and you know the Rakata are in town.

It could be really interesting for there to have been another "galactic capital" 25k years ago, and Coruscant being a more natural-looking place at the time. (Maybe to even see that mountain from the Pershing episode of Mando S3).

Why the galactic capital shifts to (or comes into existence on) Coruscant could make an interesting story/plot.

Maybe this could say something about the rise of technology or moving away from nature/balance or the loving Force.

(Not that all technology or cities are bad).

There might be something there about having a "capital" for trying to broker good diplomatic relations between diverse civilisations, rather than aggressive negotiations.

There could also be a humanitarian story about Coruscant being the centre of the galaxy for when people are in need. Of course, it comes with politics, but I think we could see just a bit more than the Dawn of the Jedi.

And a change from Corsucant being the starting world to becoming the central world could be a way of pulling things together.

What if people just kept responding simply with "This" to each other posts and it went on forever? Wouldn't we be trapped?

Anyhow, space whales are a funny concept.

A spaceship using an insect exoskeleton was in Tales of the Jedi.

There were people on these boards who insisted the planet Tython was not part of the new Canon until they saw it somewhere on Disney+. *Handholding.

The Rakata are scary and should be scary for kids. There is no escaping a scary movie full of death and holocaust. The Rakata ships are powered by the mental anguish and brutal torture of kidnapped children suspended in glass chambers. Problem #150. And then the Sith species have never been in the films. Problem #400.

The Sith species are the Horse. The Rakata are the "Cart." Problem #500. And now with newer publications like SW Timelines, we have whatever is in that book.

Star Wars needs to be a scary for 5 year olds by showing them that fantasy space travel is deathly dangerous and forces them to finally accept their own limited mortality and makes these freeloaders grow up already.

There is no avoiding it. At all. The film will have no other choice but to traumatize children, causing many to avoid watching any other films in this horror film series altogether. If they make this one correctly, they will avoid the mistake of merchandising it with LEGO, toys and children's book, as they always have done for some reason.

Disturbing and pointless. Just pay for a sitter rather than bringing your crying child to the theatre. Your child will be a grown up anyway by the time this one's out. You can fast forward through the nudity scenes when this one goes straight to Disney+.

Disney does not hire someone named James Mangled if the film is not terror and holocaust!

You really seem to know so much about parenting. Are you available for babysitting?

My child wanted to leave half way through the Super Mario movie because the lava scenes were far too scary. I told to sit in his seat and cry his way into adulthood. He's still crying 4 days later. But there's no way I'm taking him to your idealistic NC-17 Star Wars movie about genocide and the dangers of galactic fantasy space travel.

Shifting gears. Instead of beast of burden space travel, maybe something like this.

Some of these have some nice geometric simplicity, evocative of the Death Star.

The themes of genocide and planetary destruction were there in the first film at the very beginning. The horror elements have been placed into background and mid ground.

    And sometimes foreground. Really.

Please leave this theatre with your child. You and your child are disturbing other patrons.

*Here is a Rakata action figure with removable limbs for your child to play with.

These films have desensitized the public. (The Star Wars films).

I would propose there be a child friendly series and a regular adult one with all the horror elements that are normally in a SW film. And I'm serious when I say this may end up on Disney Plus rather than actually hit theatres.

And...you interject. We have some sad devotions on display here.

I would go a step further to make Star Wars even more exclusive and they produce a line of films that would be banned in multiple countries for gruesome content.

Star Wars: Make Them Die Slowly is the film I've always wanted.

I love the ignorant parenting tips here. Gonna write them down for later. I'll read to my child who's in the basement crying.

You just go on and on about your parenting. Why? Seems like a good way to dominate this thread with your views. But it's a shortcut that cuts across rows of criticism of the announcement. This includes *ANY attempt to fool this director, Mangold, into believing (B. Leaving) he has a blank slate to work with.

He doesn't. Very far from a blank slate.

I think that I've heard enough about your children. Really? Save the energy for a discussion on parenting. You continue why?

This is not a blank slate. Lucasfilm invested years into presenting this era on film. One screaming and crying child is not going to matter. There will be screaming and crying children, like forever.

If your child is really this sensitive, why are you continuing to overexpose your child to SW films and toys? So parental guidance is needed. I remember all the films my parents would not allow me to watch.
    • Repo Man
    • The nudity scene in Airplane
    • Nightmare on Elm St.
    • Halloween
And then there are some gory films and shows I would never watch as an adult because they make stomach churn. These films would be surprisingly tame, but they offer no artistic value to me. Just gratuitous violence and gore.

I think this film could end up being too much of a trip for the adults, if they do it right. Adults should walk away questioning reality. And that's the kind of origins film we need. It should be big and expensive and not compromise in presenting challenging ideas.

The really deep stuff that only adults can ponder won't be on the radar for children. Typical as always.

However, the image of a Rakata might give small children nightmares. Add to that any violence and acts of torture of the Rakata. These are not child friendly villains. But neither is Vader and the Empire. They resemble Nazi Germany. Deal with it. Nazi Germany was the worst of humanity. *I don't get how you can twist that around so that its something your children need to watch?

Not your bland toe-tee-toe film, Mr. Scrooge McDuck.

Finally, the person who argues the 10th or 12th sequel film offers a director a "blank slate" is a complete and utter liar. This was the original reason I stepped in here - only to be bombarded by the concerns you have for your child.

This discussion as a dissemination of the announcement was clouded over by falsehoods promulgated by the moderators. People, this era has been developed in multimedia and reconfirmed in new books. Get out there and read what is currently in print rather than relying on moderator propaganda that indocrinates the corporate lines.

There will be space in this film to reward those who read and enjoyed Dawn of the Jedi. There will also be space to challenge everyone's expectations.

We have them already; "Star Wars Young Jedi Adventures" and "Andor" respectively.

My mom would only let me watch the ending of "Top Gun" because there's a love scene somewhere in the middle of the film. Ah, memories!

We just watched Young Adventures with the kiddo this morning. He loved them. He asked us why is Baby Yoda so old? He's never seen Mando but knows about 'Baby Yoda" he's had a Grogu stuffy since he was 1.

Looking forward to showing him ANH in a couple more years when he can appreciate it. If he even wants to because I really won't want to pressure him into loving what I love.

My kids were really into TCW in elementary school after I introduced them to the saga movies in preschool. Neither of them are into Star Wars now. I don’t know if they’ll see any of these new movies or not.

If it really is designed to make the viewer feel gross and creeped out when they leave the theater I won’t see it either. Why would anyone pay money for that?
