The Dawn of the jedi just got a first draft and the Rey movie gone through Draft 3 so close to done and ready to film soon probably. James Mangold probably will do to more drafts before he is ready.

In one of the Andor episodes released today they said

The Rakata invaded Chandrila 25,000 years in the past.

After two refferences of The Rakatan Empire i think its 99% chance we see them in Dawn of the Jedi.

Mangold has a tough task ahead, this movie could get a lot of backlash if not done right

The same pretty much applies to any and every SW film.

    1. Rakatan invasion of Chandrila was 25,000 years prior to Andor
    2. Chandrilans have a culture around braids that are similar to Jedi
    3. Chandrilan costumes and customs are clearly inspired by Japan and other eastern cultures, as are the Jedi
    3. Could Mangold’s First Jedi come from Chandrila, and could the story involve the Rakatan invasion?

Maybe the blue kybers come from Chandrilla, and the sculpture looks like the Force priestesses

It would seem to suggest all of this. Id love the film to incorporate all of the lore and all eras in our world
Using chandrilla would make people think of Andor, the rakkatans of the EU, prime jedi and ach to, to the sequels...the old republic to the first film...the rule of two/DP to the PT...the mandalorian wars to Din and Grogu.

true that, but I meant that after the backlash of the ST they need to be extra careful

SW has gotten a ton of backlash since 1997 when Han no longer shot first.
Then the PT got a ton of backlash.
Then the ST got a ton of backlash.
It's actually kind of amazing that the franchise is still as popular as it is (even if it's not as popular as it once was), considering that fans have been griping about it now for almost 30 years.

It's because of it's enormous popularity that it can survive backlash.

If you have, say, 10 million fans, and 4 million get upset about something, you still have 6 million fans that roll with it.

It's still a big backlash, but it's survivable.

There also needs to be an offset with bringing on new fans, and in such a competitive media environment, that’s harder than ever.

I’m not saying that the decline is as massive as a lot of random YouTube screechers say, but they do need to be careful that the franchise doesn’t flounder in mediocrity, whilst not actually bringing in new generations.

They need to have a clear strategy for using the different mediums. I think that they should be using the films as a vehicles to create new Sagas’ (Old Republic and New Jedi Order) with a traditional tone and pace as the Lucas films, whilst also filling in some of the gaps with a two speed approach with television, with premium live action (Andor) for the older fans and animation (Maul - Shadow Lord) for the younger. I think that’d be a good spread to satisfy both the old, and bring in new, fans.

    > Tony Gilroy: They are doing a horror movie, I think, now. I think that [Jim Mangold](https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-mov...c-james-mangold-exclusive-trailer-1235065964/) and Beau Willimon are working on an origin story for the Force, like a 25,000-year-B.C. thing. And anything that works is gonna work. The stuff that’s gonna be lame is gonna be lame. But there’s no reason not to play with this. I know there are people that feel like, “Oh, my God, why can’t we just have the thing we had before and have it be great?” And I can’t answer that question. I don’t know. It’s hard to do? People are tired of it? I don’t know what the reason is, but there’s a lot of real estate there. There’s a lot of beings in the universe.

Gilroy has the right attitude. My attitude. :) Star Wars can be all kinds of styles. Be creative with it. Use it as an open sandbox. And open world. Don’t fall prey to limp and tired formulas.

Use different kind of styles yes but as Kathleen Kennedy said the movies will be in style with the saga and be for everyone from small kids to older adults so it can make billions.

the ST struggled to attract the newer generations due to other big franchises like Marvel so that's a serious problem. Back in the day SW didn't have much competition so it was easier to stay on top.

Fred, thanks, but you don’t have to explain corporate logic to me every time we discuss these things. I know that they want to make money, and appealing to as many people as possible makes them more money. :)

What about the PT? that had strong competition from Lord of the Rings as it was coming out.

    Plus Harry Potter, plus Spider-Man...

Whether the ST "struggled" to attract new fans is only something you will see years down the line, just like with the PT, whose new generation of fans wasn't really old enough to be noticed back when it came out.

The PT was indeed overshadowed by LOTR at the time.

I don’t even like the LOTR films very much, but given their massive critical and fan success, I do think they took some of the shine away from Star Wars at the time.
