What do we know about Sifo-Dyas?
He was a male, human, Jedi Knight and friend to Count Dooku before they fought and Dooku killed him.
He experienced a series of visions in which he saw the return of the Sith, the outbreak of a galactic war, and the end of the Reblublic.
He sat on the Jedi council at some point and took it upon himself to place an order with the cloners on Kamino to create a huge army of soldiers for the Republic.

    Am I missing anything out?

If he was friends with Dooku, can we assume that he was of a similar age?
That would make him how old when he died?
Did he sit on the council until his death?
Why didn't he consult his fellow Jedi Masters before using Republic credits to fund his war campaign?
How exactly did he get access to those funds and manage to keep it a secret?

Could Sifo-Dyas actually have been in league with Darh Sidious?
It seems possible, at least to me, that if Sifo-Dyas was as old as Dooku then he could have been apprenticed to the Sith as early as... 80BBY? Could Sifo-Dyas have been Palpatine's FIRST apprentice?
That would explain a few things wouldn't it?

Only one problem that I can see with that theory - How could Sidious have taken on Darth Maul as his apprentice if Sifo-Dyas was still alive? If Maul had killed him everything would wrap up neatly, but he didn't, Dooku did. Could Sidious have broken the rule of two before he was crowned Emperor? Perhaps Sifo-Dyas was only a Dark Jedi and not a full Sith Lord...

Anyone else wonder about these things?

Its likely that Dooku did the whole "The republic is under the control of a sith" routine with him and was able to gain his help that way.

Or also remember that the Separatist movement was also a legitamate new form of goverment and its not inconvieable that someone would willingly join them.

    He wasn't Dooku's age:

    sorry, double post

    EDIT:

But official sources have explained (IIRC) that Sifo-Dyas merely saw a vision of the Wars to Come, so he contacted Kamino in order to build an army for the Jedi. Sidious discovered, had Dooku kill him as a test of loyalty, and then decided to make the Jedi Clone Army into HIS Clone Army.

Bit of a boring answer, but that's the official answer.

Is it possible that Sifo-Dyas was Dooku's former apprentice? [face_thinking]

A Jedi Master can train as many apprentices to knighthood as he wishes as long as he does it one at a time. We already know he trained Qui-Gon and Komari Vos but they may not have been the only ones...

Just a thought ... Maybe James Luceno's new book on Darth Plagueis will include the character Sifo-Dyas. He (Sifo-Dyas) would have been around during the time Plagueis trained Sidious. Right?

Yeah, he might have been. The Sifo-Dyas in Visionaries looks kind of young for that but the canonicity of those stories is always in question anyway. Yet another reason to look forward to Luceno's Plagueis book. I'm probably more excited for that book than any other upcoming SW book. I'm already hoping for Plagueis (duh), Sidious, Dooku, Qui-Gon, Yoda and maybe some others.

Plagueis may have been around later than some might think. Like around 42 BBY or so...

Think it depends on how much he saw in his visions, really.

Since Palpatine had to manipulate the Senate into giving the army the go-ahead, it's conceivable that Sifo-Dyas telling the Senate to get one or informing the Council to be involved wouldn't go down well. They're both pretty much following a policy of pacifism so it'd be reasonabe if either or both said no. Don't want those dark days before the Ruusaan Reformation back, after all.
