Looks good. I take it you are using photes for the face as you did in JK. Too bad the show is no more. :( At least it will be a Yummy Jessica Alba skin.

Using photos as a base, and painting over them and distorting them.

Unfortunately no matter what you do with Jan, she still looks like Jan. :(

Anyway, as I learn modelling I'll hopefully be able to change the shape of the head mesh to look more like Alba's longer, less rounded head.

Phase 1 = working skins in game.
Phase 2 = altering the model.

At least you are learning. I dled all the tools and help files and it just confused me. Who knows maybe if I put a little time in to it it will click.

Okay, I looked but didn't see. Maybe I'm blind....

I've done some skins, but I have a problem zipping them back up and using them in the game. Any clues what I'm doing wrong?

I've looked at what's out there, but I don't really see this addressed. Also, I used to have ModView, but the one I downloaded the other day didn't work right. Kept getting some kind of error.

Have you just repainted existing skins, or have you changed the wireframe mesh too?

I have always planned to sort of write up tutorials as I go in this thread, and tidy them un for tfn/games. Reskinning existing models is as far as I've got so there's not much to write as yet. Next stage is to get them in-game, then I can hopefully help you out too Brood. :)

Pretty much just repainting and renaming a skin. I am just not sure how to go about getting it zipped back up so others can enjoy it.

Well I'm at the exact same stage as you - reskinned existing models. I'm about to work out how to get my Dark Angel skins in game, so if I manage it I'll write it up here. :)

Here's how my Slave Leia skin is shaping up. Lots of progress since last time I showed it in this thread. :D

Still working on face & neck seams & textures, boots and the hotpants.

    Here's some news;

A new version of Radiant (for mapping) coming soon.

I think I'll teach myself mapping after I finish writing the Skinning tutorial. :D

Maybe there's a mapper in our midst who will contribute to a Mapping for Newbies tutorial series?

Well, seeing as how I was directed here, I'll ask my question here. I've designed a lightsabre model in a 3D modelling program (Truespace 4.0, to be precise), and I was wondering if I could get any help in importing it into JO.

You need to follow the instructions carefully in my Skinning Tutorial. It explains everything.

    theforce.net/games/jo/skinning.shtml

But just use your unzip program and drag the modview file into your /tools/ directory, or "extract" it from the Zip program into your /tools/ directory.
