Jedi Outcast : Technical Help

Hey guys....trying to run JK2 - my system seems to check out but then it crashs saying it can't load the OpenGL subsystem.

Can anyone help?

 

Ooo, I'm reliably informed I have an ATi Rage Mobility which is max 8mb on my notebook....No chance?

 

Sure you have a chance. I run it on a 4MB ATi. For the OpenGL error, see Lucasarts Tech Help. Then seek out a tweak guide on jediknightii.net...

What ATi do you have? Mine doesn't seem to be supported

 

"Unsupported" just means they haven't tested your exact card. It will still work in all likelihood. If it's an OpenGL thing, there's no reason why it won't work. Just get the latest drivers, then use the tweak guide to set up the game.

Not perfect, by a long shot (frame rate is pretty horrific in big areas & with lots of enemies), and I'm running 640x480 but an unbelievably HUGE improvement in the visual department!

I think the major texture improvements mostly came from turning GL EXTENSIONS OFF, switching to BILINEAR FILTERING, and turning textures from DEFAULT to 16-BIT.

Well the ATi site say they don't provide support for notebook video cards...and searching for drivers for it is what messed my system up before...is there a way to just download OpenGL system stuff?

 

A guy, Paul K, in this threadseems to indicate that the ati driver wxp-j5-30-1-b02 may be what you're seeking.

 

I have an odd problem maybe somebody can help me with. Whenever I try to load a saved game, the load screen doesn't show the snapshot of the location where you last saved. It shows either an upsidedown, inverted Lucasarts logo, or an upside down Mon Mothma like in the cutscene from the first single player mission. Or it shows a completely blank white screen with no loading bar. It takes like 10 minutes to load! I know that it shouldn't do this, because when I load from the beginning of a level, or a checkpoint, it loads fast. Also, in multiplayer, while the screen is loading I can read any words normally, but as soon as the level begins, the letters go all fuzzy and I can't read them anymore. I'm running a 533 processor, 3 graphics card, 256mb RAM. Anybody know what's going on?

 

Is that a Voodoo3 card? If so, it may just be a bug you'll have to live with.

 

Does anyone know how to spawn NPCs in multiplayer? Thanks

npc spawn x - spawns the character named x

 

As far as I know it is not possible. I guess that the game is very different in MP and the SP NPCs are just not compatible. At least that's what I heard. I think that it may have something to do with different codes being used in the two game types. However I heard that Raven wouldn't release the SP code to the public. Since I know next to nothing about programming (as I'm sure I just proved) I really have no idea.

I would personally love it because I have 56K modem and my internet games tend to be a wee bit too laggy. However I also think that MP games would be way cool if SP NPCs could be spawned because then there would be great coop potential.

 

No, it can be done i have the code for the stromtrooper. How to do this was announced at Jediknightii.net but I can't find the artical. If anyone knows HELP!!!

 

Give us the Stormtrooper code you have & we may be able to figure out how to make it work for other NPCs.

 

ok this is from the readme of JediMod(very cool by the way.) I can't get it to work. The sight was talking about the commands before the mod. came out so I assume that it works without it. Like I said I can't get it to work but mabay someone can.

how do i play the single-player mod levels? i have already got it downloaded, but i just don't know how to get to play it.

 

ok so i have made it to yavin close to the beging two dark jedi jump me but with the rain and them both attacking i guess it causes a shut down , why now , is there anything i need to set in my video quality or anything ?

when I try to play JO 1.04 Multiplayer i get this error message on startup can anyone help

Do you guys know if there is a hack so I can use Alt+Tab to go between JO and other programs? It's a pain in the butt to close JO out everytime just to check my email and stuff when I am playing.

 

Rox, hit the windows logo key inbetween ctrl and alt. it should make the task bar at the bottom appear. so, you'll be able to access the start menu and everything else on the task bar.

 

I don't know if this has already been asked, but during cutscenes (the movie like ones that show a ship flying towards a planet, etc.) they work fine for a couple seconds then the sound starts stuttering until it completely shuts off.

I have 256 mb of RAM, a 700 MHz AMD Athlon processor, and a VIA soundcard

 

I can't host in multiplayer

Is there some option thing I have to change? It always hosts under Local....

 

Are you getting any kind of error message?

 

If your asking me, nope I don't get an error screen. The sound just starts stuttering worse and worse until it finally just goes mute.
