We all know jedi use Lightsabers of various designs, and sometimes Light whips but do they use any other type of blades?

You Know Whip swords, Key Blades, Other types of Whips, Chains, Nunchucks, throwing knives, Brass Knuckles or anything like that?

The NJO, Uses various Blasters and the Occasional grandes, but thoes arent standard equipment.

Not sure what a whip sword or a key blade is, but i'm sure if they are undercover they might use other weapons.

As far as I am aware, it's only been sword and whip weapons; nothing else.

There's also the San-ni staff, but those were rare specialty weapons.

For the most part, Jedi just use lightsabers. Though, they do use blasters and other more common weapons when a mission calls for it.

Jedi do not wear open-toed combat boots.

Now go to the back of the line.

Jedi use Lightsabers for a reason. They are a weapon of last resort. Jedi should try to negotiate instead of charging in slicing everything in sight.

Now, a Sith using an exotic weapon, thats a different story. We already have at least 3 examples. Mauls Double blade saber, tyranus' curved hilt dueling saber, and Lumiyas Whip.

I would expect the Sith to use weapons that would add an element of surprise to a fight.

For the most part, Jedi stick to their favorite energy blades, and they generally do just fine with those. Most other types of "light weapons" would be impractical, anyway. Although, I must say that I'm surprised that there has never been a Jedi to add a glowing shield with the sword.

Seriously, if they can make a blade of pure energy, it shouldn't be all that difficult to have some sort of energy shield that can be strapped to their arm. It's a purely defensive item, and in conjunction with the lightsaber, it would make a Jedi much, much harder to kill. It would make deflecting blaster fire extremely easy.

That was a Zeison Sha Warrior throwing a discblade. From the WotC Star Wars d20 book "Hero's Guide"

Correct; Zeison Sha are not Jedi hence me not including them.

Also, double-bladed sabers were used (infrequently) by Jedi. I number them in the "sword" class.

...What the heck IS that thing, and what is the point in using it?

Honestly, it's not like the lightsaber isn't the most efficient, practical, and lethal melee weapon ever designed.

Looks like a linked staff, with a very tiny middle part, and energy instead of chains

That's the San-ni staff. The crackly things in between the rods are energy binders, like those between podracer engines.

Light keyblades showed up in Rise of the Dark Falls, or so I heard.

That is a San-Ni Staff. When inactive, it's just a 50 centimeter metal rod. When activated, it's a three section staff combined by power couplings similar to those found on Pod Racer engines. As such, it is an effective stunning weapon. It is not a lightsaber variant.

It can be found in Star Wars Gamer #10.

I could redesign it to be an even more effective stunning weapon in about, oh, a few seconds.

It's stunningly impractical and looks like it was only made for the "wow, geeze, different and new" factor.

Well, it is an exotic weapon and requires the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat to use it without a -4 to attack rolls, but it is a 2d6/2d6 duel weapon with a Stun DC of 16. So, while not exactly mainstream, it does have its benefits.

I mean, its no worse than swinging around a weightless laser sword capable of insane amounts of collateral damage. Mostly to yourself.

Ewoks have shown us that even skilled users of nunchuck/bola type weapons ar not immune to collateral damage.

I know, right? It's almost as dumb as Bao-Dur's "energy arm" in KOTOR2.
