other then jar jar not being heard from ever again i dont think we ever have to worry about the prequals being forgtten. ewan had a voice cameo in the rey vision in TFA. mon mothma and bail are back and they are vital to both the PT and OT (even if bail never actually appears in the latter). im sure we'll see more pequal references and actors in the spinoffs.
Why? Rogue One takes place 19 years after ROTS. No need to either dye his hair or cut it. Indeed, I think he looks much better with his current hairdo. Has some more wisdom under his belt. Rogue One might end up being a pretty excellent bridge between ROTS and ANH, after all. Bail's final line: "Isn't Alderaan wonderful this time of year?"
The extremist PT-hating conspiracy at Lucasfilm is just trying to lull us into complacency while they systematically de-canonize the prequels. Bail is just a sacrificial lamb. DO NOT BE FOOLED.
The problem with the PT was not Jimmy Smits. It'll be great to see him back in the Star Wars universe.
Agreed. For a guy who didn't get a ton to do in those films, he did well I thought. And it's no surprise, Jimmy Smits is a really good actor.
The casting for Rogue One has been fantastic, but this is probably the best bit of casting news I've heard about this movie so far.
Great! I love the fact they're not completely neglecting the prequels. Jimmy Smits is also a talented actor. He looks perfect for the role of a more mature Bail Organa too.
for what short time he has in AOTC And ROTS he does a really good job. even without the edited out scenes in ROTS.
It would in the sense that they say goodbye but the audience knows it's the last time they'll ever see each other, it would carry a lot of emotion for the characters if especially Leia had a sense of foreboding. In the time frame it could be the final scene and a fitting down beat as the Rebels have succeeded in getting the plans, they've won even though they've been badly decimated by Vader but the audience knows more than the characters on screen know.
Because it would have to be near the start of the movie and distract from the main plot. You can't follow Jyn and Cassian building their team, doing their investigations, etc. and then suddenly jump to Bail waving off his adopted daughter.
Great to see that our suspicions from the sizzle reel were confirmed. Awesome news. So, that makes Vader, Mon Mothma, and Organa as pretty much confirmed in the film. That's in addition to the decent evidence that we also have Tarkin and Dodonna appearing. I wonder if they'll be any other surprises?
A scene with Bail hugging Leia goodbye would take away too much from the main plot. This film is about Jyn and her team of rebels, not the Organa family. Bail's scenes in the film will most likely have him being present at the council meeting seen in the BTS footage. He will discuss the situation with the other rebel leaders including Mon Mothma and Jan Dodonna. Leia will hopefully be mentioned during this conversation, and this is how it could play out: Mothma: I have faith in these rebels, Bail. They won't fail us. Bail: Even so, we will undoubtedly be playing a very dangerous game here. I don't like it. Dodonna frowns. Dodonna: General Organa, what else do you think we should do? The Death Star is very much real, it's out there somewhere, and it's not like we have a lot of other options! Bail: Forgive me, my friends. The situation is rather desperate, indeed. I was just suggesting to go by an additional strategy. Mothma ...which is? Bail: A third player. The council members raise their eyebrows. Bail: By that I mean someone who could receive the plans first, and then escort them to a safe location without raising suspiciousness among the Empire. It would be like... a kind of diversion, if you may. Mothma: And who would you consider suitable for such a diversion? Bail: My daughter of course, Princess Leia, she is the perfect canditate. As a respected senator of the Imperial Senate, the Empire would be fools to suspect her. Something like that!
Good. Based on the timeline and content....it would make no sense to leave Bail out---if he shows up in Rebels, he needed to show up later on. Glad JS got the nod to be involved because would be weird to get someone else after Rebels show his likeness perfectly. Hope his part is more of a heavy cameo cuz I think he is awesome. <-------
Oh gosh...that would be both poetic and horrible at the same time. Thanks for the laugh. BTW, great to see Smits back. I am glad he'll have some more to do in the movies.
Depending on how this movie goes, part of me wants there to be a scene of him on Alderaan, and he looks up towards the sky and sees the DS approaching. And, depending on how this film goes, he might know exactly what's about to happen when he sees it, which would make it all the more tragic. Think the "reaction shots" of the people on Hosnian Prime when they see SKB's laser heading towards them, but much more emotionally wrenching because this time it's a character that we know/care about already.
That's exactly what I'm scared they won't do. This film is the perfect opportunity to finally add emotional weight to the destruction of Alderaan that was sorely missing. I was quite disappointed in how it only showed up as a brief cameo in ROTS, so the least they could do is apply it here.
This is great news! Liked Smits as Organa, what little we got of him anyways. Now we just need a Ewan Anthology film!
