Still going with the theory that he’s a former padawan/Jedi, but man, he certainly has his own way of doing things. Jude is playing it perfectly, what a guy, so glad he got roped into Star Wars. It would have been awesome to see him alongside Ewan McGregor or Liam Neeson. If he starts kicking ass with a lightsaber I think that could be a legit jump-out-of-my-seat moment.

 

Jod is TCW Hondo's true spiritual successor.

The name "Professor Gorelox" sounded interestingly like "Gorelocks". As in "Bloodbeard".

Also, are we absolutely sure Jod has two flesh hands under those gloves?

 

Did we see his bare hands? I can’t recall! Did he always have his gloves when he did force tricks?

 

When he retrieves the key from inside the prison cell at the end of episode 2 you can see most of both hands. He has cloth wraps around his wrists and the back of his hands but you can clearly see all 5 fingers on both hands plus most of the palm of the hand grabbing the key and they look flesh and blood to me. I'm still not entirely convinced he's force sensitive as we've only seen him retrieve small metallic objects so far; the key, his knife, and Wim's iPad which probably has some metals in it. No other Force-abilities yet. I'm less skeptical about his Force abilities as I was a couple of episodes ago but still not fully believing it. There's still a chance he may be using some kind of magnet or employing a GFFA parlor trick of some sort.

 

Although it still counts as a small metallic object that last shot sealed the deal for me.

I'm pretty sure he was a padawan or knight and got stranded somewhere when order 66 was activated and who ever was supposed to pick him up was killed.

 

I am still thinking he used some force mind trick on the Hutton in the last episode though … still not convinced about the buyer the eopies with some credits from then where they could have taken him prisoner and kept the credits and the much needed ship that could have been used to shoot down the Troiks turret and win the fight

 

Jod is a jedi knight gone Rogue and has been bitter for almost 30 years.

 

He's either former padawan who survived Order 66 at a very young age, or is a Jedi Order reject. He had moderate levels of the force, but wasn't accepted for ... well, probably obvious moral reasons that the Jedi sensed in him. Being bright, he still managed to pick up a few self-taught force tricks along the way.

 

Jod distracts the guards when they escape the brig. I'm with the "he's force sensitive", school of thought. One of the great things about this series is fairly straight forward. Yes, mysteries abound, but I don't think Jod using magnets will part of them.

 

I legitimately thought for a moment that Pokkit, after saying nobody heard of a Dash Zentin, was going to say “they knew a Dash Rendar, but you’re not him.”’ We were this close to greatness.

But since he stole Crimson Jack’s name, I guess it can also be inferred that he met Dash at some point and used his name as an alias

 

There is no telling how common the name "Dash" is. In Legends there were 582,797,754 males named Jax Pavan on Coruscant alone. Dash could be as common...or even more so as it is just a first name. Jod could just have made the name up on the fly.

 

My money is on Jod being ex Jedi.

I have a friend IRL, who is now the boss of my boss… that’s what happened to him! I hope to bring him back to the light side but for now his nickname switched from Yoda to Skyguy…

Don't Jedi washouts become either Jedi Temple Guards or agriculture. Could just be a Padawan but it would be difficult to see him as a good guy after this

 

This needed an immediate internet search. Farmers. I guess Mae didn't have a green thumb. Can't see Jod hoeing the good earth. The Jedi Order can be a very strange place.

 

If the only option for Jedi who don't quite make the cut is "farmer", I'm surprised the Jedi don't have an epidemic of newly-minted Sith Lords on their hands.
