Movie's getting a bad rap, but I think that trailer was pretty cool looking.

 

Why is it getting a bad rap? Are all the good things in the trailer?

 

Looks cool to me. There has been a lack of cool films taking place in the Western era.

 

I thought the trailer was pretty bad. This looks to me like Van Helsing meets Wild Wild West.

The movie's had a troubled history, apparently, with lots of re-shoots and post-production nonsense, and apparently there was some question as to how they were even going to get it out by the release date.

 

It's due to be released this week, but no reviews yet. Which means they haven't shown it to the press. Generally a bad, bad sign.

 

I used to read the comics in the 70s and 80s, so I'm mildly interested in what they'll do with the character on the screen. That said, the trailer looks emabarrasingly dumb, and whats-her-name comes across like a wooden statue with animated lips.

 

I used to read the comics too. I like weird west stuff, so I'd love to see Jonah Hex done right; the more supernatural stuff the better - the trailer only had a hint of that angle and I wonder if its because it's really not in the movie or just that they feel it won't really sell.

Megan Fox . . . it's strange. I mean, I suppose she looks good, but the minute she opens her mouth, it just all vanishes; like all her sex appeal just dries up the second she starts talking.

But this doesn't look like the Hex movie I want; were those dynamite crossbows? I mean, come on. Too bad; Brolin is actually pretty good casting.

I'm not attached to the character in the same way I am, say, Conan or Thor, so I don't mind if they fudge the origin story or pull back on the supernatural in order to sell the film. All I want is a good movie, dammit, and judging by the trailer this decidedly isn't.
