Since Star Wars is in English, it seems natural that they would use English swear words. I think “****” sounds more natural in Star Wars than “kriff”
The addition of "Dank Ferik" from Mandalorian to the Star Wars swears I've enjoyed. And my personal theory is that Moofmilker is like the Star Wars version of Mother$%$%$er. If Mace comes back totally confirm that. Nobody really says "Sithspit" anymore which I enjoyed as kinda random. I don't think Kriff has gotten much play lately but I may have seen it in some recent comics. The guy saying "%$$#" on Andor was a little jarring with the toybox of Star Wars swears (although I would bet there's no way Gilroy has looked or cared into that particular corner of SW canon), and ending her speech with the F-bomb I think would have been really jarring, and "fight" works great. I'd love for a random interviewer with Gilroy to run through the list of Star Wars swears just for jokes to see his reaction. Although if someone in Andor S2 says Dank Ferik I would love it but the Gilroy gritty drama vibe may clash harshly with that.
Yeah, I've got nothing at all against swearing in Star Wars generically, but the speech was literally a call to arms. "'Fight' the Empire" makes more sense.
I love "dank ferik", it feels like a natural insult while remaining star warsy, that said i think real life insults are fine in Star Wars, i just prefer their goofy counterparts from the GFFA.
Lucasfilm confirmed at D23 that season 2 will arrive in 2025, and confirmed appearances by Spoiler Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk as Director Krennic and K-2SO. Folks in attendance got to see a sizzle reel!
Spoiler From what I am hearing, it sounds like a fun sizzle - hard to tell any concrete plot points from it other than Cassian getting to dress up for a job and some big riot happening - possibly Ghorman? - oh and K2S0 of course, but overall very intriguing. From a ship spotting perspective, there is an unusual looking ship that might be a tie avenger. Additionally there is a Broadhorn transport from Kenobi - the same type used by the Hidden Path - and what looks like an Aurore-class transport, so a fun variety of ships from other shows. Another fun bit of possible connectivity, Saw's new base looks a lot like the Resistance base on D'Qar.
This show could easily include Thrawn or Kenobi, but won’t likely, I imagine. Thrawn needs more screen-time...
More likely that there will be a cameo of Gideon, and it is going to be better than all of his appearances in The Mandalorian. Spoiler Seems that way. Maybe a moment when Syril sees a single TIE Fighter is the start of the massacre ordered by Tarkin.
https://screenrant.com/star-wars-diego-luna-jabba-the-hutt-dream-over/ They should have convinced Gilroy to give him a brief meeting with Ezra Bridger... I mean, Jabba on Lothal in season 2.
Oh yeah, Gideon was an ISB agent if I remember correctly. That would be a great cameo. Spoiler I could see that very well. Though it would be a shame if we didn't get Tarkin landing a warship on protestors, but the tie fighters can definitely follow that up. That is a true tragedy. And...it would just wouldn't be the same. That Jabba doesn't have the right skin texture.
For some reason I thought the Ghorman Massacre was something that happened much earlier in the timeline in canon, like way back around the timeframe of the Tarkin novel... but no, Timelines actually dates it very precisely in 2 BBY - literally between episodes 16 and 17 of season three of Rebels, in fact. So it's definitely something that either Andor or the Reign of the Empire trilogy could incorporate. And on a side note, how cool is it that a nugget of lore from a 35-year-old RPG sourcebook continues to have this kind of longevity, informing stories to this very day?
The legends version of the Ghorman Massacre was 18 BBY, interesting that they moved it around so much, yet as you pointed out it still plays the same role as the thing that catalyzed the creation of the Rebel Alliance proper. Wonder if during the massacre we will get anyone proclaiming that it is game over?
With her speech in the Senate about the Ghorman Massacre being Mothma's first open act of defiance against the Empire, seems rather possible that there will an episode in Season 2 about her escaping shortly after that, with the help of Gold Squadron.
According to someone on another forum that I frequent, reliable sources out of D23 in Brazil are reporting that Season Two will debut next year on Tuesday 22nd April. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That is earlier than I expected. Although maybe the plan is to start the new movie's promo campaign at summer, without diverting attention to the series.
Celebration Japan happens 18-20th of April, so I guess they might drop the first episode(s) of Andor there a few days before everyone else can see it.
This rumor is so many layers removed from an original source, and yet I believe it more than anyone directly stating that they're making a new movie in the next few years.
So excited for this. It's kinda absurd how much the "A Star Wars Story" subtitle awakens nostalgia for an era that was just two movies. But I do think the Rebels-Rogue One-Solo spinoff era is probably the high water mark for my enjoyment/investment. If anyone wants some similar quality stuff while waiting, I'd highly recommend Michael Clayton, Tony Gilroy's distant sequel to Andor from 2007.
Hello, old friend. It will have been 28 years to the month once you finally appear on my TV screen...
I thought this was going to be just Star Wars stuff when I clicked on it and for a moment was like "........wow they're really leaning into Skeleton Crew's real world suburbia vibe..."
