I remember some Republican or another defending the Empire as a meritocracy way back in 2005 around the ROTS release.
That guy is clearly doing a bit. Anyway, I wish Uncle Harlo had shown up. But he has to be either: A) Boba Fett B) Palpatine C) Exar Kun D) Revan
Considering that Evereni seemibly have matriarchy (fittingly for being space Drow), Spoiler: Shalla's fashion style , Syril's physical strength and his father not returning from his journey, maybe the Karn family are no humans, but Evereni in a good disguise.
Uncle Harlo? Man... it's all spelled out right in the name who he is! Harlo... male version of Harla, the Trickster Goddess! He's a Yuuzhan Vong infiltrator! (And I still believe Luthen was Nom Anor in disguise before leaving his meatbag ooglith skinsuit)
As I said in my Gilroy/Yuuzhan Vong thread, Tony would be perfect to canonize the Vong in a way faithful to NJO Gesendet von meinem Nokia G22 mit Tapatalk
It just shows that even a custodian can change the world, you don’t need to be a fighter pilot, or politician, or out on the streets protesting or fighting every day. Just know what you can do, and when a time might come and an opportunity presents itself, you know how to have an impact that can thwart the “bad guys” and help the “good guys.” Like making the door super secure “like it says in the book” a day before the big speech, and “following protocol” to put the new key as far away as possible, and just calmly distracting to take up as much time as possible. It’s small but everyday moments of hope, compassion, defiance that keep the galaxy moving and shows there’s good that’s worth saving.
Little acts of good (or resistance) grow into larger events. In some ways this the message of Andor, in microcosim.
The Empire's plan for Ghorman is awfully similar to what Vidian attempted to do to Gorse in A New Dawn.
There's definitely an implication in Andor that Ghorman is far from the first time they've used this playbook, just one they have to be more careful about PR-wise because of its prominence in the galactic economy.
Vidian in general set the tone for the Empire in NU Canon being mostly focused on barbaric resource extraction. And Krennic himself used this scheme in Catalyst. Maybe he liked Dedra's proposal so much because it reminded of his own success that time, especially since it was also a move against Tarkin.
I think that if I were to find one flaw in season 2 it would be the lack of context for the wider Rebellion, and probably Bail's role specifically. Spoiler His opposition to Luthen in the final arc, I think, gives the wrong impression of what he's been doing all this time. Bail Organa knows stuff that Luthen Real definitely does not. He knows Palpatine is a Sith Lord, he knows General Obi-Wan Kenobi is on Tatooine, that Grand Master Yoda is in hiding, he knows that Anakin Skywalkers children are going to be getting involved very very soon, he had Ahsoka Tano as *his* covert agent for at least a decade, he knows that a Jedi Knight and his Padawan were instrumental in liberating Lothal. There's an awful lot going on that we have no indication that Luthen is aware of, especially stuff he should be aware of like the Specters. it's Bail's work that built the military we see on Yavin IV. There's a whole other side of building the Rebellion that we don't see because so much of Andor is concerned with Luthen's spy craft and his handful of agents rather than showcasing the more overtly militant factions building fleets and recruiting fighter pilots.
Syril became more heroic like Luke as his hair got shaggier. Then he went $@#$ and tried to murder Cassian. Glad to see those two toolbags on the Rebel council remained toolbags right before the battle of Scarif. i wonder what happened to them after Yavin, did Mon just leave them behind?
I know they did this for continuity, but I really wish they kept it down a notch in this instance with those two. They should have been sceptical but not outright dismissive in every way. Now, all scenes we ever got from these characters makes one wonder how they ever joined up with the rebels in the first place. It's good to have differing points of view, but they are just too weird for this. You can't really have characters who are openly dismissive of all intelligence, unwilling to fight whenever things get tough, speaking of doom whenever someone else wants to fight, yet also be important members of the alliance. All those traits just don't fit to them having joined in the first place. They needed more nuance for that. Granted, they were only in it for a few seconds, and we already got Bail and Draven to cover the unsure / reluctant angle, but still.
It seems to me that with RO and Andor's finale context there is a potential for a great story about Mon consolidating power after the Battle of Yavin and becoming the Alliance's unequivocal leader, thus by putting an end to dismissive senators' meddling. She and Draven seem to have good working relationship, his support probably had an important role in her rise to power.
Draven got killed by Vader I believe like barely a year after Yavin in Star Wars 2015 Vol 1. They need to special edition that comic and make it those Rebel Coucil toolbags When you watch the Andor finale and Rogue One back to back the duo become sort of over the top cartoonish but I always believe that has a place in Star Wars. They're just ****s!
I was extremely unimpressed with the Star Wars (2015) run and Mutiny at Mon Cala and Hope Dies were the worst for me.
Enough time for him to help Mon. More likely they are going to resurface in Ahsoka season 2, being even more insufferable. Spoiler
I had looked it up earlier, one of them became the Minister of Finance and I think had pushed for the New Republic to get rid of its military (or just really slash its budget). Luthen definitely knew about Lothal, Ezra and Kanan, likely Ahsoka, and a lot of Bail's plans and that pre-Yavin base. But Luke/Leia and probably Obi-wan/Yoda were likely secret, although Mon Mothma knew Bail had a connection to Obi-wan so maybe Luthen just knew Bail knew. But yeah, I wish we had seen what Bail contributed, which must have been the more military structure to Yavin.
