Kam Solusar and Tionne

I barely know anything about these two characters, probably because they spent most of the Yuuzhan Vong War hiding in the Errant Venture. I know the basics like he used to be a Dark Jedi and she's a historian/minstrel who has isn't as strong in the Force as most Jedi. Other than that I know zip. How did they hook up BTW?

 

They trained together under the first of Luke's students at the academy on Yavin VI. Were they together by Darksaber?

 

And follow up question regarding Tionne, I thought she was weak in the Force, then why is she part of the Master's Council? (Haven't read DN: Joiner King yet but you can spil me)

 

I think she is on the Masters council because of her Wisdom, and all the knowledge she has abtained through her vast research in too many different holocrons.

 

Power alone is not the measure of a Jedi.

The ability to touch the Force is not even the truest measure of a Jedi.

As far as Kam and Tionne, basically all we know is what we see of them in the JAT, Tionne in YJK, and the few glimpses in NJO. I don't even know when it was decided that they were married - it may have been Greg Keyes' decision for all I know.

Kam and Tionne were already married by Star Wars: Union the four issue comicbook series that depicted the wedding of Luke and Mara. As far as Tionne's appearance. She is described in the Jedi Academy trilogy as being very beautiful and winsom, with silver hair and mother-of-pearl eyes. All of her comicbook appearances get her wrong though because they always give her blonde hair which is totally incorrect.

With both of them being students and later faculty at the Jedi Academy, it isn't that hard for them to see alot of each other, thuis, some time between the JAT, and Union, they fell in love; the rest, as they say, is history.

She also has dark skin. This is from I, Jedi where Corran says her skin is to dark for his taste.

 

she has darker skin, but not dark skin. there are official colored pictures of her. and she isn´t darkskinned in these, but little bit darker only than the heroes are.

 

blond hair has been retconned as just her using haircolors^^ but her skin isn´t darker than average in the comics, that is wrong.

Too dark?

Maybe he only likes Selonian dark skin.

 

Tionne also has a semi-major role in the JJK novels. She's hard-working, empathetic, wise and a great teacher. Perfect Jedi Master, imho.

But I'd kill to see something that shows her and Kam hooking up. In the YJK, it seemed that she and Luke were something of an item.

 

I'm with Q_M, but I unfortunately couldn't help thinking of the same thing...

I always liked Tionne. Oh, and thanks for the info. I never actually read Union, though I'd like to, so I didn't realize that they were already married. It kind of surprised me at the beginning of the NJO to find that out - not in a bad way, certainly, but surprising nevertheless.

The impression I got from Union is that they had been married for a good number of years already. The way they were portrayed made it seem like they had been settled into their marriage for quite some time. This is evidenced in their first appearance in the comic, when they are talking about going to Coruscant for the wedding, and in Tionne's joking with the other women as they give "advice" to Mara about married life, while Kam and the other men do the same with Luke. This all seems to indicate that they were definately not newlyweds by far. It is likely that they married only a couple of years after the events in JAT.

 

I'd credit their marriage (and the marriages of most SW men) to Mike Stackpole. He wrote Union and in it not only married Luke and Mara, but showed us that Wedge and Iella were married, that Tycho and Winter were married, that Kam and Tionne were married, and that Gavin Darklighter was married. He also gave children to Corran and Mirax AND to Wedge and Gavin. You should really read Union. It's such a fun read. It feels more like a Star Wars class reunion than an action story. It's got the Big 3, Chewie, the droids, Lando, Mara, Karrde, Corran, Mirax, Booster, the Rogues, the Jedi and a few Imperials crash the wedding. If only Callista had shown up to give her blessing!

 

it is my favourite comic! stacky should do lots more of that kind of stuff. marriage of jacen&tenel ka, Jaina and zekk or jagged. and some others.. ^^ also I want to see more of the kids from corran and wedge and the others.

 

Re: Union.
I liked the limited series fair enought. The artwork was great and it was fun to see everybody instead of just imagining what they looked like. But it lacked action. And what was up with Mara's physical appearance? In Issue 1 & 2 she was so beautiful, then in issue 3 & 4 she got uglier! Why?!

Re Tionne
I've always liked Tionne in the few novels I've read that she's in. I liked that she seems to work harder than the average Jedi to develop her abilities and that she was a mintsrel and the official jedi historian.

In EoV: Conquest, I liked the part when Kam thinks that because Tionne is less powerful in the Force than most Jedi, most people think that she was weak, but that he knew better "Ultimately, she was stronger than he".

 

Octa Ramis was their apprentice. If you read her in a book, you'll be reminded of her high-gee homeworld and the muscles she has. Nothing Malaks more than Hamner. See him in a book, and yep siree, his face will be described as long and lean. I almost spat when I saw that in Final Prophecy, but TOTJ did enough business in that, as though we'd forget after so many mentions till then.

Naw, he's not hard to follow. It just takes a couple weeks how to learn to parse his phrases and see what he's really saying. I had it down cold in abouot two to three weeks. well, the main story line of Union wasn't supposed to be some big battle, but the Union of Luke and Mara in matrimony. to stretch it into a story arc, they added an actual story with a conflict (Imps trying to ruin it).

my favorite bit from Union - the girls play some hard smashball against a team of aliens as part of Mara's bridal shower..
Leia changing in the locker room afterward - i thought Ithorians were peaceful.
Ithorian on the court, looking broken - i thought Alderaanians were peaceful.

Why not?

Earth has had a number of cultures where public bathing and partial/complete nudity is acceptable. I'm sure the SW galaxy has a ton of those, too.

The real-world reason for the art, however, is all about the fanboys...
