I look forward to seeing the PT-era GFFA become the Rebels-era GFFA. Might we see the transition from clones to stormtroopers, Vader's introduction to the public, the Empire going from beloved savior to cruel tyrant, etc.?
Order 66 story. Rebels tie-in. I want Zeb but I think they will cover his backstory on the show. Droids in Distress and all.
A lot of this comic will probably deal with Kanan moving away from using his force abilities. By the time of AND it is clear that he almost never uses the force. My guess is he'll use the force a lot in the first arc. But after that the comic should focus more on his planet hopping adventures.
Because it's Kanan and I want as much Kanan as possible. I actually hope he's reluctant to use the Force the way he was in A New Dawn.
This too. Jedi dealing with situations out of their control such as this is fun imo. Wonder if he will get a underworld character to hong out with. Luke and Han, Quinlan and Villie, Zayne and Gryph for example.
anakinfansince1983 Fair enough. I am the same about Vader. The invisible enemy and all the similar stories are fresh in my mind. Coruscant Night also deals with similar thematics. Oh, and not to forget "Last of the Jedi".
Huh, I will check this out. If anything, I need to make sure I am up to speed with the new canon. Dark Times aren't exactly my favorite time period, but a tie in to the new Rebels series seems to be a logical step. --Adm. Nick
I wasn't a fan of the old canon system, all those silly tiers and retcons. But I do hope they use the chance to avoid at least some of the pitfalls of the old EU.
Hmm, interesting when you consider how it all slots together: New Dawn sets up Rebels, Rebels has Kanan and the gang active, this covers Kanan's backstory - that's some quite neat multimedia coordination going on. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'll personally go for it due to what I'm going to dub the Han / Kanan or Solo factor. Just as I don't find Han and Chewie all that much fun on their own removed from the ensemble, or Zayne separated from Gryph, I'm wary of this for the same reason. I liked Kanan in AND, but there he wasn't o his own, he worked well as part of a group, I'm not so certain I'd care as much for him on his own. That said, all my Marvel buys are trade, so I'll let you all be my guinea pigs and see what you make of it before deciding to buy or not! Cynical quip: First trade August 2014, 4 issues, hardback - make with the readies!
Sounds interesting. Do we know if this will be monthly, or every other month? What about the other series (I'm trying to make sure I budget correctly since following series can get expensive)?
Look at this way: It gives you time to assemble the money - you'll need it! Marvel are very skilled at persuading consumers to drain their bank accounts.
I was also a little disappointed about it being in April. Then I think back to where I was last April and that over this 6 month period I'll have Rebels, 3 novels, and 3 new comic series to bide my time.
Can't wait for the yearly crossover events. I will say that they have gotten quicker about releasing beautiful huge hardcovers at the end of runs or a series, not just their massive but awesome omnibuses.
Sometimes for the Omnibuses yeah, but there is also the Young Avengers by Gillen that only came out last year that is getting a hardcover omnibus that is about $40. The speed with Marvel collecting a run in a big collection is decreasing compared to how long it used to take to have such a collection. I think with Marvel's Star Wars I'm not going to bother to get the smaller trades and instead wait for the paperback "ultimate collections" or bigger hardcover collections down the line (while still getting the individual issues...gulp).
