Keep the Stars: Yes or no?

Quest, that helps me understand more the logic behind the Death Stars (especially the whole "star" reasoning ), but that still doesn't change the fact that they're just not very exciting. Too bland, in my opinion. And honestly, if we get the Death Stars, I think there's going to be a lot more spamming because quite frankly, the only sweet ones among them are the DS and DS2. And those are in the stratosphere of post counts, I assume.

What the ships have going for them is that each and every one of them is iconic and exciting. They look much better than most of the DS balls, too. Nothing personal. On the other hand, there are problems withe ships I've mentioned before.

edit: I think I know what the answer is, but is it at all possible that users can choose one set among many sets of stars/ranks, much in the way they can choose an icon? Like maybe the stars are currently only admin-controlled right now, but with the changing of a permission, everyone can change which set they have? This would solve the whole partisan thing, and then depending on what rank I had, I'd choose from among, for example, the SW ships or the generic stars or whatever.

 

I voted, but it doesn't look like it was necessary as there's a clear winner to this poll. Much to my liking.

A great idea for every holiday that comes around if people are able to create various sets of them to coincide with the holiday. You could almost create a "Star Thread" along a similar vein of the Icons Thread! Although that might be something for the new Fan Design: Sites and Graphics forum ...

 

Voted against, because I'm an old and bitter lady and find them clunky. Not sure having insignia, Death Stars or Ewoks playing the piano would make things better either.

 

Yeah, I like them too, although my disembodied hand 'star' kind of creeps me out...

 

Wow. Love the Halloween ranks. I voted for the stars but I had no idea you guys could change the ranks system so fast. Awesome!

 

Voted with the "no opinion" option. Keeping or not keeping graphics in general doesn't faze me.

I do have to contradict that to say that I do really like the Halloween ones.

Personally I think that stars cause people to spam so that they'll get more stars...so I voted to get rid of them. Some forums, like a Narnia one I was a part of for a long time, had ranks for various members: new members were called Fresh Bread, in-between members (ones who hadn't reached 1000 posts) were Senior Members, and anyone with 1000+ posts was a Friend of Narnia. Maybe something like that, only with Star Wars titles, like Sith apprentice, Jedi apprentice, etc...just an idea.
