Kenobi : Ewan McGregor in potential Kenobi movie OR series

I don't think a SW film needs to open strictly in May or December. The one thing I like about current franchise culture is the all-year-round release schedule.

I'd love for Kenobi to save us from the usual August movie doldrums. If the movie is something of an anti-Western (e.g. Unforgiven or Logan), it may require a lot less CGI/post-production work than most SW films.

Here’s a supposedly exclusive plot synopsis from TMZ. Keep in mind, what they’re saying sounds less like a “near immediate New Hope” prequel like the headline claims, and more like a near immediate Revenge of the Sith sequel.

TMZ is nuts, but they usually don’t make stuff like this up. I wonder if this indicates an imminent LFL announcement.

 

Well....that plot sounds so expansive. Hopefully they will chuck in a Krayt dragon and a few thousand sand flies to really spice it up.

If it's true though I wouldn't mind at all. It would be refreshing to have a SW film this small scale and confined to one planet IMO.

 

Doubt its true, but it does sound like what the story for a Kenobi film could be. I do expect flashbacks, too, with Yoda and Qui-Gon (and even Anakin?). In fact, I demand them.

 

TMZ usually does a really good job of reporting on the industry. They probably got the plot synopsis wrong, though.

 

I've said it before, but this movie would be the perfect opportunity to bring back Liam Neeson and use CGI de-aging techniques on him for flashbacks.

 

Honestly setting it not long after ROTS wouldn't be a bad thing. i don't think it needs to be 2 years before Episode 4 when there is like 20 years worth of space.

To me that sounds more like a prologue opening or the first act of the movie.

Obi-Wan draws attention to himself that could lead to exposure. It does but the person who tracks him down is either another Jedi (say Quinlan Vos who has also been on Tattoine before in TPM) and that leads to him having to leave to help other Jedi who will die without him which leads to Maul.

That could be done as well but more likely it'd be current talks to Qui-Gon's spirit but flashbacks to his early days with Qui-Gon could work as well.

 

This "plot synopsis" sounds a whole lot like the now-legends book: "Kenobi". Really good book, by the way, if you haven't read it.

 

There's no reason to think that Obi-Wan necessarily stayed on Tatooine 24/7 during all of those years.
