    Thought I was dreaming it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I had the same problem two years ago when I got stuck in KOTOR 1. [face_laugh]

    I have this problem.

The voice effects cut out quite often and when in dialogue, the part with the NPC speeking just skips to the part with my dialogue options. So if the NPC had a lot to say, I miss a lot of it. Simply reloading will not correct the problem either. I have to completely shut the game down, go back to windows, then restart the game to correct the problem.

I have no idea what would be causing this because I have a really good system. While I realize the games are totally different, I can play Doom 3 without any problems at all and it has far better graphics and sound effects.

The only thing I could even think of is this. Is it possible that the version of directX that KotOR 2 uses, 9.0c, perhaps it's bugged. I don't know if it's possible, but it was a thought.

All I know is that I better get a patch for my Intel Dimension 4600 withing the next week or I'm gonna start a riot. I just dropped 60 bucks for a game that I can only create characters with. I am NOT spending extra money on another Graphics Card.

I know what the problem is. Its not the fact its a Radion. I am willing to bet that every computer that hangs after character creation (Black screen and music) is running an AMD processor. My reasoning? I have an AMD and if you bring up taskmanager it states the program is not responding and that processor is at 100%

The reason for this? AMD's PowerNow! Feature. Windows doesnt like it. Check this thread http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=35673&st=35

Now all will become clear. So whats the solution? Buy a new PC that doesnt have an AMD processor in it :( bye bye AMD 64 Athlon 3000+ laptop :(

Oh and check this link too http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813383 does all this sound familliar? Blame AMD and M$ for not sorting out their playground differences and not talking when designing their new stuff.

I selected DONT show movies and now it works. Hmm strange. Oh well I can play the game, but I think the processor issue is still worth meantioning.

THAT is absolute crap. I just bought this computer TWO MONTHS ago. If Obsidian doesn't come up with a patch, there's gonna be hell to pay.

I had a Radeon 9600 video card and after the first sequence couldnt get anywhere. I went to ATI and downloaded the updated driver designed to fix The Sims 2 and it worked. Give it a try.

Alright, I had trouble after creating a character and installed newer drivers. It worked until I went to leave Telos. I got into the ship watched the cut scene and aboard the ship my screen was black. I could access the menu and save but my map was completely white and if I attempted to load a save it would freeze. Anyone have any ideas?

Okay, I got an interesting situation here. After I defeated the Red Eclipse crew, I persuaded the Handmaiden to become a Jedi. At that point, she had around 130,000 XP. I then went on to the Jekk Jekk Tar and GOTO's yatch. By the time I finished all that, I amassed around 40,000 XP. Now the Handmaiden should have 170,000 XP and be ready for some more leveling up. However, when I went to do that, there was no increase in her XP. Is this a major glitch that can be fixed with a patch, or should I have chosen her to be part of the rescue party? For the record, I chose Mira and Visas for the rescue party.

I've had that happen too, but I think just swapping my party around a bit when entering/leaving the Hawk fixed it so they all hit the same levels (perhaps the game checks that?)

MarcusP2, you were right. Went to Dantooine next and had Handmaiden in my party. The XP problem resolved itself.

Has anyone noticed how you can't see Atton when he and Kreia are talking while in those Force cages in the hidden base on Telos? That happens to me. Also, once I get them out, Atton suddenly appears elsewhere in the base and has to run to get back to you.

I had an interesting situation on Korriban. When I was in the caves and facing all the visions I was unable to side with Kriea when the crew turns on her. I could choose her but then the door wouldn't open as Kriea would just stand there. When I talked to her it was like the whole room reset itself and I had to start the coversation over again. I ended up siding with the crew, taking a dark side point and never able to gain any more light side points again throughout the rest of the game. I lost my light mastery! I just thought I'd share this annoying little bug I found and to echo everyone else's reguest for a patch. Soon!

ATI here and i had a geforce for the original but still the same glitches. After so many loads the game crashes which is usually preceded by either all objects (except player character and main background texture) failing to be drawn (looks really cool on korriban, levetating with the sith lords in the background) OR brightness goes through the roof.
Luckily it restarts fine everytime (my fault for playing it for 6 hours a time) and people complaining of slow load times, set a RAID0 system up, mine loads in about 3 seconds.

The game goes so slitchy for me on Dantooine. It just pauses and has about 3 frames per second then completly stops and refuses to budge. Help me please, Im scared to hunt around for patches because of plot spoilers.

There are no patches yet anyways.

I believe the crashing in open areas (Dantooine and Korriban) is a known issue, but since I never experienced it I don't know how to fix it.

Marcus, I had that same level-halt problem with Bao-Dur, but I was near the end of the game, so I wasn't able to shift him around enough to job the computer out of the halt. Wasn't really important by that point. I had finished Onderon and had spoken with Kavar at that point.

    Greeting everyone!

I have a video issue which involves the need for OpenGL 1.4. I currently have OpenGL 1.36. Is there anywhere that you can upgrade or download this version of OpenGL?

I can't play KOTOR II without this... it freezes just after creating a new game after the main titles movie clip it freezes at what appears to be the interior of a ship. Can anyone help me out? I'm looking for OpenGL 1.4 I can post other info If requested.

Edit: I have even submitted an inquiry at LucasArts.com tech support. This is a big issue that I've seen occuring and I believe the only way we can solve this is by bringing the issue to the manufacturers.

    http://games.softpedia.com/get/Patch/Star-Wars-Knights-of-the-Old-Republic-II-the-Sith-Lords-Patch.shtml

I found this "patch", which is wierd. It's not announced on Lucasart's site, or Obsidian's, or the KoTOR2 site. I'm wondering what it is.

I think you download your most recent video drivers to update your openGL

Got a message back from LucasArt...(*sarcastic*) it was VERY helpful! They didn't really answer my question...

    RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION:

    Hello,

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP has specific video card requirements.

Below you will notice three links to our website that will provide you with a list of 3D video cards and chipsets that are supported/unsupported in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. If you do not see your card listed, but you do see a chipset that matches the one used on your card, you should be able to play the game. This list is also available in the game's Troubleshooting Guide (which can be accessed via the Start Menu shortcut folder for the game).

    Supported Video Card List
    http://support.lucasarts.com/tsg/SWKotORIIQuestions/Video%20Issues/SupportedVCL.htm

    Unsupported Video Card List:
    http://support.lucasarts.com/tsg/SWKotORIIQuestions/Video%20Issues/UnsupportedVideo.htm

The game also requires a video card with at least 32MB of on-board memory. Look for the "Approx. Total Memory" line on the DXDIAG Display tab (Windows Start button > Run... > type DXDIAG and click OK) to see if your display card has sufficient memory to run the game. Look at the "Name" field on the top left corner of the Display tab to identify your video card model.

Unfortunately, teh Radeon 7000 series graphics devices cannot run the game correctly. Cards not found in our list of supported 3D hardware did not meet the requirements set forth by this title and/or were found to have problems with the game. We tested this game with a variety of 3D cards currently available, but because there is no simple way to rate individual card performance or feature set, we have decided to list the specific cards which are compatible with the game.

I am not aware of any plans to add other cards or chipsets to the current list of supported hardware.

If you purchased the game directly from us (through our Direct Sales department that can be reached by calling 1-888 LEC GAMES), then we would be happy to arrange for you to receive a refund. However, if the game was purchased at a retailer, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to issue you a refund. Unfortunately, LucasArts does not have any retail function or capacity. If you would still like to pursue a refund, I would strongly suggest you contact the retail establishment where the game was purchased.

Please note that LucasArts does not recommend making any changes to your system without first contacting your computer manufacturer about the configuration of your computer.

    Eric / LucasArts Product Support

P.S. When replying, remember to include all previous messages, also please do not change the subject heading as this contains routing information. Changing the subject heading can delay any responses to you.

    ----------------------------

PROBLEM: I have been encountered with video problems with Star Wars
Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for PC. What happens is
after choosing a character in a new game, and after the movie clip with
the main titles, the screen freezes on an image that looks like the
    interior of a ship.

I checked the reuqirements and apparently, I require OpenGL 1.4 or PCI or
AGP Hardware Accelerator with hardware T&L. What I have now is a Radeon
7500 Series 64MB. I have ATI Technologies Inc. I would like some
guidelines as to how I can fix this problem and what I should do. Are
there any settings in which I can alter to make the game run? Please
contact me if you need any extra info. I would really appreciate your
    support. Thanks.

Oh. If you'd have told us that you've only got a Radeon 7500 you'd have saved them the trouble :p
Sadly, You'll need to buy a new graphics card. Simple as that.
