If you ask him about his war stories, his third or forth story is about a strange living creature he encountered in outer space amongst an asteroid belt. It appeared as a normal asteroid but it soon appeared to be something different. It came alive and started spinning and twisting and brought forth an immense heat. Then it finally rocketed away with an immense speed, and went into hyperspace. Canderous and his troops managed to track its hyperspace route, but when it dissapeared beyond to edges of the galaxy, they decided to stop following it.

Are we talking Yuuzhan Vong here? If you listen to Canderous talk about it, it could be. Anyone else got a clue? I know KOTOR takes place 4000 years before the movies but... it would be a remarkable piece of foreshadowing :D

I'd explain it, but then it wouldn't be at all funny.

I would say that it is the Vong for certain, but I don't see why the Vong would wait 4,000 years before launching their invasion. However, it could have been a Zonama Sekot ship as Sekot's fighters and the Coralskippers are pretty much the same thing.

IMHO, I would like to think he is speaking about the vong.... But EU proof would say that he doesn't. Perhaps it still is, but all the NJO books say is that the Vong had sent the first scout ships for invasion into the galaxy about 20 years before PT movies. But 4000 years? Last I checked, the Vong did not have control of their galaxy at that time. Perhaps it was a rogue ship.

I think that it was a vong scout ship..then the invasion was delayed 4,000 years some how :D

thats pretty awesome, I was sold on the idea about it being the Vong until I remembered that KOTOR is set 4,000 years before the trilogy. I'd be willing to say that it maybe could have been a Vong ship that did get lost from their home galaxy, and managed to micro jump to this galaxy? thats my best theory.

I'd completely transcribed Canderous's account of his Vong encounter...but I seem to be missing the very next page, where most of the meat of it is covered at some length.

Here's what I have right at the moment:

"We were going through the asteroid fields of the Crispin system at the very edges of the galaxy, playing with pirates and smugglers we found there.

"The main belt in the Crispin system consists mainly of small rocks covered in frozen methane gas shells, and the pirates were using them for cover. Ha! I remember using a thermal generator to cause the outer layer of one of the asteroids to vaporize in a picosecond. It blew out and shredded the three smugglers using it for cover."
...And here, Canderous begins talking about how the explosion "awakens" what seems to be a coralskipper adrift in the asteroid belt; it spraying the Mandalorian ships with "liquid fire" and melting through their hulls, the ship jumping to hyperspace at the galactic rim, etc.

Try and post the rest of it later, when I find it.

Well, it took the Vong a very long time to travel between the galaxies, but I doubt any of them would have arrived in the GFFA so early(even scouts). It couldn't have something to do with Zonama Sekot, since Sekot wasn't awakened until just before Rogue Planet, and the "seed" that gave birth to Sekot probably hadn't arrived in the GFFA yet.

Maybe this was the First Vong, maybe Canderous woke it up, and it disappeared for 4000 years while their forces grew...

Actually there were scouts that early, refer to a creature in the Alien Anthology by WotC for more information.

No, as stated in The Unifying Force, the Vong originated on Yuuzhan'tar and in a different galaxy.

I don't own the RPG books.

That would be interesting if that actually was the Vong.

I have a feeling Bioware meant it to be a Vong ship. The games generally don't fit very well into the already convoluted continuity that is SW.... not to say Bioware/LucasArts weren't aware of this. It's clearly meant to stir up some fuss amongst us geeks. ;)

Actually, according to some of the roleplaying game sourcebooks, the Vong did indeed send out scouting "aliens" (the alien called the Slivirith that appears in the 55th issue of the marvel series was retroactivly made one of these creatures) as early as the The Sith War. It's possible that this is what Ordo saw.

I think I'm going to agree with the Evapilot04 on this, becuase I mean they probably just threw it in to see if NJO geeks like us would catch it as a reference, But I'm sure they could also argue using the roleplaying guides.

Someone ought to run a check of the BioWare message boards and the designer comments on them. Probably a direct answer to this question can be found there (apart from what I remember once from some VIP over there who apparently confirmed this, but from a while back).
