    Sorry for the long reply.
I just got the parts right now through the post.
I did order the audigy, but only the simple one. I didn't want the external or internal i/o box. Only the card. I aint RAID'in nuttin cos this machine has to last me. Cos my last RAID 0 setup failed and I was left with a comp that doesn't boot. With KOTOR run smoothly on this AMD or can I play it on my 667 (I dunt wanna get the oldie outa the storage room cos it's under a pile of old socks:p)
The AMD cost me exactly £4231.77 Why so much? I got a special offer from my local retailer. One 19" TFT for £400, but he said buy two and he will gimme it 4 £600. £200 ofF!
I'll run benchmarks and let u know. Hope I get high FPS! Gonna build now

I have tried downloading the drivers from nvidia, i have directx9b but i still get the end program now error as soon as i enter the game. it says i have:
Open GL: ATI Technologies Inc. 1.3.3261 WinXP Release.
    Video: Intel(R) 8245G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller 64 MB

I have tried to download the drivers at ATI's site and at nvidia's site but neither seems to work. I also don't understand why my 64mb graphics card isnt compatable when only a 32mb graphics card is needed. If this post seems stupid or pointless please forgive me because I am not very computer literate.

Possibly you have an integrated graphics chip with no T&L capabilities. Without T&L (transform and lighting) some newer games (such as KOTOR & ndiana Jones & Emp's Tomb) won't work.

Are you sure you don't have Intel Extreme Graphics Integrated or something like that. Cos the integrated ones tend to be poor, and not even for gaming even if it does have a catchy name like "Intel Extreme Graphics"

I have an ATI Mobility Fire GL 9000 card on my laptop. When I started playing the game it would crash like crazy. When I went to IBM and downloaded updated drivers, it stopped crashing, but now I have fuzzy blue bars covering my screen. Any ideas out there?

    Your Graphics Card is iffy.

    Plus
    Memory: 640 Mhz DDR SDRAM
isn't accurate at all, since I'm 99% sure no one's overclocked RAM to 640 mHz, but I figure you meant 640 MB ;)

Incidentally, a GeForce graphics card 2 won't work on KOTOR. Your mobility is slow, and the game can't handle all the screen sprites once you reach the Taris Outcast villege, and crash to desktop. A graphics card 4 is optimal.

I've been having a problem running KOTOR. I'm a huge SW fan, much like the rest of you and it really troubles me that I can't be in on the fun *sniff*

Well, heres what info I can give you about my system:

    I have a

    AMD 1.4ghz
    1GB of SDRAM
    and a Geforce MX420 64mb video card. I believe its 4x AGP.
... and windows XP home, of course.

I think other people have had this problem when they try to run the game, well if not, this is the problem I have:

I fire it up, I can create a character and everything. Once I get to where I actually load the first level, the screen turns black and the music repeats and stuff. I've given it about 3 to 5 minutes, thinking that it was just jumping a bit as it rendered the level and such... but I CTRL + ALT + DEL 'd and It said that it was not responding.

Funny thing is, I can see my in-game mouse pointer thingy, its bigger than my normal one... but the screen is black and the music is skipping and repeating and such.

Could anybody please help me? I've read a little bit through this thread and I've noticed something about OpenGL 1.4 or something like that. How do I see if my card runs OpenGL 1.4 or not?

Ahhh dudes, I have read this thread through TWICE and it's breaking my heart! I have heard so many great things about this exceptional game and yet SO MANY MORE problems with getting the thing to apparently work!

I HAVE to play this game and am seriously considering an X Box on which to do so.

Here is MY computer's specs and a friend said if I was serious about purchasing the PC version, I should focus on MORE RAM and a better GRAPHICS CARD, though granted that could cost BUCKS!!

(Apologies upfront, I am in no way computer educated apart from turning the things on!)

    PROCESSOR : Intel(R)Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHZ

    PROCESSOR SPEED : 195.GHZ

    MEMORY(RAM) : 256MB

    OPERATING SYSTEM : Windows XP

VIDEO CARD MODEL : 16MB ATI RAGE 128 ULTRA

Even the 16MB Video Card worried me as I know KOTOR requires 32!

Will it even run in this degraded state of specs or should I stick with my Gameboy Advance? Lol!

Any help would be absolutely stunning!!! Thanks in advance to the smart people who chose to answer a desperate man's plea!

Hi, I'm new to the forums, and I'm also having trouble running KOTOR on my PC. I have an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX100/200 and 256 MB of RAM with a Pentium 4. I played the Endar Spire level with only a few pauses, but once I touched down on Taris things started going downhill. In the apartments, I can run about for a minute or two before my character starts to move really slowly, and then freezes up. At first, I couldn't even exit the game when it did that, but I've reinstalled it and at least I can exit safely now. I've disabled grass, shadows, etc and put the graphics on low, and even added the 'Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1' line to the SWKOTOR.ini file in a last-ditch attempt to fix it.
    Can anybody help???

    Hey everyone,
    Just got KOTOR over the weekend, and I've experienced some of the same problems you fine folks have, but I got one more;
I meet all requirements but one:
The game says I need a Non-Windows OpenGL 1.4.0 driver. The problem is I google and can't seem to find it. Anyone know where I can find one, or if I'm doing anything wrong? Thanks!

I have a 64 MB video card myself, but it's not exactly replacable. (Laptop, you see, and it's right on the motherboard...)

According to my "lovely" HP here, I've got:
    Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
448 MB RAM(...Which is supposed to be 512...)
    XP Home
Er... Pretty sure it's a 64 MB ATI Radeon video card.

Now, as long as I crank everything down to it's worst, KoTOR runs on my computer. It's not the most stunning performance, but it runs. Sometimes it crashes at some points, but the patch indeed helped with that. It clogs up at about 1-2 hours of play, so I generally have to save, shut down, and let my computer cool off for a little bit (But that's mainly because my laptop's cooling system is crap...).

I'll just post this as a sort of a benchmark, but this is just my personal experience. Worse stuff may work, better stuff may work. I just hope they don't pump up the requirements too much for KoTOR 2. It seems to me that the video card is what everyone is lagging on, myself included.

448MB + 64 = 512. 64MB of your RAM is going to your video card, which means your laptop video card sucks (like mine.) Not really relevant to KOTOR, but I thought I'd clear up why that is.
