How about a Rebel named Rat with two SW-versions of auto-shotguns blasting away at people whilst cornered before dying? Or someone named the Oracel pops up and says to Luke/Vader/Hoojib#7 "You are the Chosen One, Ne...er, yeah, yer the chosen one. Now move it sonny" Oh, and Tank will be black. And big. And his name will be Tank.

now that would rock... a luke/leia incest issue? lol

    Matrix Wars..

including a woman who can see the future.. Old Vima anyone?

lets not forget that child who always tries to be like Luke... Kyp.

Mifune could then be some battle hardened Crix Madine.

Mara would work fine as Morpheus love interest who can fly like hell. or better take Shira Brie?

High Inquisitor Smith hunting Luke Neowalker..

There's an update on SW.com about future publishing but it's only for hyperspace members.

I'll just give the link to the news page.

EDIT: Guess it was about the Dark Nest cover. Now I'm both relieved and pissed off cuz they still haven't posted the news.

Dark Horse would be stupid if they got rid of Jan & John---they make them money.

Dark Horse has short summaries up on the new series, plus info on a new Purge one-shot. AND they still haven't revealed all their plans yet.:D

...an ongoing monthly series written by John Jackson Miller (Iron Man) and illustrated by Brian Ching (SW Obsession), and set four thousand years before the rise of the Empire and the fall of Anakin Skywalker (and four years prior to the events in the Knights of the Old Republic video game).

    Mandalorian Wars. w00t! [face_dancing]

Okay. So KOTOR is gonna be Jedi on the run from jedi order on Taris. Sounds fun :) Can't wait. Rebellion=mini seris? Not sure how I feel about that one. Purge. [face_plain] Artist who did ROTS? I hated that. Plus why a one shot?

Thank goodness! We'll be getting more announcements [face_dancing] That means that there'll be a chance of having a Purge sequel to Republic. Also it sounds like he's hinting at NJO and LOTF era comics :) That's a good sign :)

More mini-series possibly covering a variety of eras, that would explain why they felt Tales's niche wills till be filled in some manner. Sweet.

The only thing we need now is some more good books in this era, maybe an animation or live action show in this era, and a good KOTOR-3 game. This by far is the hottest and most interesting era to me.

I just hope that the comic books on this era can have all colors of lightsabers like there predecessor, as well as expanded force powers like the previous comics and the KOTOR video game. I sure don't want the same movie stuff of red, green, blue, and basic force powers. I want the spectrum and a wide range of stories. Cause if it the same thing like the movies, I won't bother with it.

The Mandos nenevr went on Taris. So no Mandalorian Wars. And KotOr happened five years after the Mandalorian Wars I believe, so it si more likely Jedi Civil War. We might get to see Canderous though...

Actually I believe it's said in the game that the Mandalorians did make an attack on Taris. Though it's been a while since I played. EDIT: Either way I know Revan visted Taris during the War.

I also believe that the Mandalorian Wars were still going on, and this year would be the last year of the war.

The KOTOR comic series sounds interesting so I'll follow for at least the first few months at least. Not sure about Rebellion but it sounds like it has some potential.

    Hi, folks!

Just wanted to say I'm very pleased to be working with Brian Ching and editors Jeremy Barlow, Randy Stradley, and Dave Marshall on this. I shouldn't expand beyond what Jeremy's said except to say that it's an exciting story, we think, making full use of the setting while still being accessible for new readers. And Brian's designs are looking terrific. His and my first collaboration is coming up in EMPIRE #35.

I don't get around to the boards much, but I am looking forward to speaking more about the series closer to the launch -- and to seeing everyone at the various conventions. Thanks!

    Best,
    John Jackson Miller

'Tis true. Revan leads an army of Jedi against the occupying Mandalorian armies on Taris in 3,961 BBY, the year before the Mando Wars end. Juhani -- having escaped the destruction of Cathar -- sees Revan and the other Jedi in action, and decides to join them one day. Nice big honking gigantical .JPG of that cover up there, BTW. Old Muttonchops -- still not sure. Might be a Tarisian underdenizen. Vima got herself some prison tats? Maybe? Or someone new?

    Hole in one.

Or give him his own series --

"HK-47: Fits of High Dudgeon and Meatbag-Blasting"

    Written by Garth Ennis.

    The announcement, by the beats:

    • [...] [and] set four thousand years before the rise of the Empire and the fall of Anakin Skywalker (and four years prior to the events in the Knights of the Old Republic video game).

So...3,960 BBY, looks like. Which puts it in the last year of the war, but there's still plenty to do. Two words: "Malachor V."

    • On the planet Taris, a young Padawan named Zayne has been framed for a heinous and brutal crime against the Jedi order. Suddenly a wanted fugitive and on the run from his Jedi Masters, Zayne is forced to ally himself with the under-city's criminals, con artists, and petty thieves he'd previously vowed to bring to justice. Staying alive is the first order of business and if he's ever to clear his name, Zayne must make this new alliance work ... providing he survives the experience.

All right...here's hoping the Taris Undercity gangland events are merely the segueway to circumstances elsewhere, perhaps dealing with the Outcasts or the class-strife with the Upper City dwellers. Some relevant social themes to examine there, if they care to take the initiative. Also let's beseech them not to simply beholden themselves to the backstory of the games alone; not when there's a whole antique galaxy as yet unexplored. To say nothing of this golden opportunity to build further bridges with the Tales of the Jedi stories. Not that the "unwashed" mundane yard-ape gamer populace could give two gerbil poops about the SW continuity, but still.

Okay, methinketh I doth kvetch too much. And not saying there certainly won't be flashback-stories, but they'd be pi**ing away a MAJOR opportunity by not exploring the emotional ramifications of the Cathar-immolation...in the present-day, mayhaps. (That one's like a total gimme.)

Figure on the Black Vulkars and the Beks runnin' the colors up the pole...but no Caged Bastila. Evidently. [face_frustrated]

    • Following Rogue Leader in December is the event every Star Wars fan has been dreaming of-Darth Vader unleashing his full fury on the shattered pieces of the Jedi order in a one-shot entitled (what else?) Purge. In the aftermath of Palpatine's Order 66, a group of Jedi gather to discuss what can be done about the Sith's rise to power. Vader gets word of the meeting from an unexpected source, and shows up with lightsaber blazing. Oh, the carnage! Purge is brought to you by the capable and deadly hands of writer John Ostrander (SW Republic) and artist Doug Wheatley (SW Episode III adaptation).

Was this the one-shot GN-esque thing jawajames alluded to above?

I agree leto on that this series should not be secluded just to Taris. Taris is a big place, with a lot of places to explore, but with the Mandalorian Wars going on we should at least see the state of the galaxy in other ways.

Kicking off our new Star Wars order in January ?06 will be Knights of the Old Republic: an ongoing monthly series written by John Jackson Miller (Iron Man) and illustrated by Brian Ching (SW Obsession), and set four thousand years before the rise of the Empire and the fall of Anakin Skywalker (and four years prior to the events in the Knights of the Old Republic video game). On the planet Taris, a young Padawan named Zayne has been framed for a heinous and brutal crime against the Jedi order. Thats on darkhorse comics site so its very close to the KOTOR I, and besides the Mandalorian Wars were a decade (ten years) before KOTOR II. The kid in the picture is Zayne.

Anything more you can "slip" us on the series, without the Patented Randy Super-Giga-Electro-Zapp Collar? kicking in?

TOS has some more info on the new series and on the final issues of Empire and Republic. Plus, they hint at the future anthology series that will replace Tales and mention a "Star Wars Annual."

    :D
As Empire wraps up, Janek Sunbar returns in a Jabiim storyline. "It's the first part of a five-issue arc that will take Sunbar from Jabiim to Kalist VI and along the way will take him to a Rebel base on Thila," explained Stradley.
Ah, but will Thila look the same as it did in Chewbacca?
