These new series launches is what they likely refer to.

Also possible they might be references to the suggested "holocron" collections of the various pre-99 DHC works that was suppsoedly being tossed about at one point (and the existence of Rogue Leader suggesting it might still be in the works).

    Boba,
    Re:
<<At Celebration III, I seemed to recall hearing that DH was planning something awesome for their anniversary this year. And it included Star Wars. Ah, has that been touched on since then, or are the new issues what they were referring to? >>

There are still some *huge* Star Wars surprises in store for DH's 20th anniversary (DHXX), and let me tell you, when you hear the announcements, you will not be disappointed!
    :)

    LeSammler,

There's a chance the announcement will be made in 2005, but I know Randy Stradley (VP at DH) likes to keep things quiet as long as possible...so, knock on wood, we'll get the announcement this year, but if not, look for an early 2006 announcement.

I promise it will be well worth the wait!

this new KOTOR comic im undecided on, ive never like the prospect of a MALE Revan. To me Revan was always female and the Exile male with Revan having her sights on turning the Exile into her new apprentice. Malak knows of Revans ideas and plans and attempts to show Revan that the Exile isnt worth her time by trying to kill him. The two duel, Malak showing just how far he has fallen and we have some sort of Revan/Palpatine + Malak/Dooku/Vader + Exile/Anakin/Luke scene play out. Malak possibly wounds or scars the Exile who gets his revenge by cutting of Malaks lower jaw. Revan urges Exile to kill and finish Malak off and take his rightful place beside her as her apprentice. She tries to tempt the younger man by saying she has always had affection for him, anything to seduce him to the darkside. But he refuses to join her and attempts to persuade her from her course of madness. Which she replies to with the good old favourite Sith Lightening. Exile being the quick thinking young man he is does abit of the old force deflection and the lightening strikes her instead, giving him time to escape. But anyway back to my thoughts on the KOTOR cover....

I doubt the women is Vima Sunrider, she isnt holding a lightsaber shes holding a staff/sword and she doesnt seem dressed like a Jedi. She seems more a mercenary/rogue like Atton or Mira.

The old man seems like a trader/spacer abit rough around the edges. A Jolee Bindo of sorts.

The alien monkey thing could possibly be that sidekick sort that is useless but gets one chance to do something exciting. A mechanic maybe.

The massive droid sort of reminds me of the KOTOR2 game droids in the peragus facility. Further proving my bias hopes that this will be a male Exile story tie-in with Revan or feature the Exile atleast.

The man in the back could be Revan, yes the thought crossed my mind that it could be a male Revan. That man looks older than the jedi in the front, also his saber is blue/white suggesting light side jedi. His robes are ornate rather like Atris's so perhaps it is a Revan before the war. Or just another leading Jedi in the series with a rough exterior but but with a opposite personality or possibly a pre-Mandalorian War Revan.

P.S. - is it me or does the Jedi at the fron have a weird looking saber, like it looks as thin as a pencil and that makes his hands look like they have been drawn too big. Plus that lightsaber blade looks too short/thin needs to be more AOTC/ROTS thick.

Revan's age... I always saw him as being younger than Malak, possibly by about 5 years or so, yet far more advanced in terms of Force power and potential. I always remembered that the friendship groups/pairs that I came across that stuck out the most were always the ones where it youngest person acting as the leader.

It also seemed to make Revan stand out even more and provide another excuse for Malak's jealousy, small at first but growing rapidly with his descent into darkness, "Why am *I* the apprentice? Why is Revan stronger? I've been training longer than him? Why, Why, Why!!!" Etc, leading to his betrayal.

Another reason for my thinking this stems from the fact that Revan is still considered "young" by the majority of the characters during the events of the game proper. Doesn't really make me think of someone in his mid-30s to 40s, so I place him at around 27-30 during KotOR itself.

After all, Revan being an incredibly young general/commander isn't exactly unrealistic in Star Wars terms, in fact after seeing Revenge of the Sith I can imagine a scenario where Revan and Malak allow themselves to be captured by Mandalore during the Wars:

Mandalore: ... and this must be the great Revan, I must admit, I expected someone a little... older.
Revan: *smiling* Mandalore, you're shorter than I expected

Anyways, as for a KotOR comic series... I have mixed feelings. I kind of had all the main characters backgrounds mapped out in my head already, for example as far as I'm concerned, Malak was a Tarisian outcast rescued by the Jedi and was forced to leave his sister (Malya, who became Rukil's apprentice) behind. Originally I had it worked into the background that Rukil had forseen that Malak would play a part in avenging their people (aka bombing Taris into oblivion), but I'm not sure about that now.

It's all a little silly perhaps, but I thought it gave the otherwise two-dimensional guy a little depth.

Anyway, providing they don't brutally character assassinate anyone a KotOR series could be really good.

see i always thought of Revan as a women during the Mandalorian War as 20 or 21 who had Malak as her apprentice and confident who was roughly 19 or 20 aswell. But he wanted more than this, he wanted Revan herself. But she never wanted Malak her sights were always on a young Jedi General, who would become the Jedi Exile who was roughly 18 or 19 who was both smart and tactical on the battlefield as he was strong and powerful in the force. Malak realising this grew envious of the younger man, until finaly his darkside took over and he showed just how far and how silently he had fallen to the darkside.

Both the young Exile and Malak duel, Malak letting his darkside flow through him tries to kill the young Exile with each strike he makes. The Exile is constantly on the defensive being pushed back by every attack coming from Malak. He struggles to keep his anger and frustration from bursting out of its restraints and unleashing it. Revan all the while has been watching, sensing, feeling the young Exile's passion and anger build up inside him she watchs intently.

Malak corners the young man and continues his attack until one of his attacks strikes the Exile on the face, down the side of his face near his eye. This causes the Exile to lose control over his emotions and in a blink of an eyelid the tables turn on Malak and it is he who is on the defensive. Until finaly the Exile breaks Malaks defense and in one swift strike, cuts Malak's lower jaw clean off. leaving the jawless wonder that was Jedi General Malak to drop to his knees in pain, fury and humiliation as Revan steps from her spot clapping and cackling.

She tries to persuade Exile to finish Malak off, recieving a glare of shock and hatred from Malak. The Exile hesitates unsure, Revan coaxes him on telling him it is he she wished was her apprentice, was he she wished to be her second in command it was he she wished to share her bed with. Exile senses the darkness and deciet in her and her statements he turns his saber off and tells her, no...he will not join her. Naturally Revan is displeased and out comes the Sith Lightening. But our Exile is one step ahead he manages to use a quick force deflect sending the lightening back at Revan and makes his escape.

Cool, I do like the "female Revan concept", in fact I think it's more interesting than the male Revan one (ever seen any of Aimo's artwork on her site or at Kotorfanmedia? fantastic stuff) and "Revan being older than Malak" seems to work better when Revan's female (don't ask me why), it's just that Revan's clearly of the "male scout" build in all the cutscenes, so I kind of just go with that.

I WAS hoping that the "canon" for KotOR II would be a female exile, but alas no such luck. :(

Hopefully if they do flesh out any major KotOR characters in this series, Revan will not be one of them. If they do have to go in depth around a major character, Malak should be it. Hopefully detract from his "chump" image... I mean, aren't villians ALLOWED to laugh maniacally anymore?

yeah if Revan is male he has to be younger dunno why but he has ot be lol. Ive always been female Revan and male Exile and yeah i seen Aimo's fanart...and **** amazing amazing work.

And yeah id like Revan to be set down as male or female and then leave it at that, we want speculation about her/his past but not canon. The mystery is what makes Revan, Revan lol. Flesh out Malak he has alot to offer, hes the only Sith Lord in the KOTOR games we know history on. Was a Jedi and followed Revan, now tell us more about this, tell us some history during the Mandalorian Wars about him.

He might be tall, he might be muscular, he might be evil and have the "shoot first, shoot again, shoot til nothing is left" philosophy but thats what makes him cool.

If not Malak go in depth with Exile tell us a little about his past and tie it into Revan and Malak during the Mandalorian War. But dont go in depth with Revan.

If they put the Exile in the Foreground of any of the comics then they would have to give him/her a name (He/She wasn't the Exile until He/She returned to the Jedi Fold), otherwise there would be continuity errors. What would his/her name be. It would have to be perfect or I wouldn't be happy.

Likely nothing. Or at least nothing concrete -- locking the Exile into one single gender/physiognomy this soon is doable, but I doubt there'll be much more than a passing nod thither and yon, since they have their own characters to worry about properly servicing.

(To say nothing of the fact that the Exile isn't truly exiled for another couple-few years yet, as of the time-setting of the first issues.)

It was said that Revan would most likely be male, for Bastlian linkage, and Exile possibly female.

I think it's a good idea for the story it works better because of Bastila even though i first played Revan as a female.

    yeah thx for reminding me.

    female Sith:

    (Darth Revan)
    (Exile)
    Darth Traya
    Lady Githany
    Darth Zannah (Rain)
    Darth Lymia

    any others?

I think Revan as female fits better, because most fans picture "her" with Carth. And in Kotor two there are already enough females and female Sith, Kotor one could need one more!

Apparently that scene was heavily edited when the PTB realised what was going on. Hence the bugginess. We're still some years off being able to have a gay character without someone objecting.

I'm a male!Revan advocate simply because Revan/Bastila is the best done of the romantic subplots in either KOTOR game. :)

I think the conversations you have with Jhuani don't change wether you're male or female. So, if you talk to her often enough you should be able to get that bit of conversation too.
