I was watching the empire of dreams dvd. Kurt Russell wasnt actually THAT bad at being han solo, i think he would have turned ok. i mean harrison ford made the role, but russell could have pulled it off also. so who knows.

Big Trouble in Little China proves that Kurt would have been awesome as Han. Nothing against Harrison(who did a great job as Han), but now I kind of wish they would've chosen Kurt.

Did you know that George Lucas also talked with Sylvester Stallone? Eeesh. :p

I don't think he would have made as good a Han Solo. Harrison Ford as Han Solo is just one of those actor/character combinations that just is absolutely perfect and can never be altered. Like, a lot of times people think that an actor is best for the part simply because that's who they see and they can't actually visualize another actor. However, sometimes there really are times when a specific actor was the best for the part, and anybody else simply would have not been as good. I view Harrison Ford as Han Solo as one of those cases. Same with James Earl Jones as the voice of Vader: anything else simply would not have been as good, it was as though the part was destined to be his alone.

I really can't see anyone else as Han Solo. I'm glad Lucas picked him rather than Kurt. Nothing against him either, he's a pretty decent actor in his own right, but it wouldn't've been the same. I sometimes wake up in a cold sweat worrying that Peter Jackson would've kept his first choice for Aragorn in LotR, namely Stuart Townsend. I'm glad he didn't and picked Viggo Mortensen instead, who literally becomes Aragorn.

I can see him standing on the skiff in front of Boba:

"Give my regards to Jabba the Hutt, A$$HOLE!"

did i read your post right? well that's a first for me. I've never seen anyone say that they wish someone else had played the part of Han. I admire your bravery. I love the character of solo and think Harrison did a fantastic job; but i think he's a little overated and the people who say "he" makes the OT and the "PT" is nothing without Han drive me crazy. The OT was much more than Solo driving around the falcon.

i didnt say i wished he was han solo, just if he was picked it would have turned out more alright than not picking vigo for aragorn. but yes, han did make the part. but that thought is only there because hes been han from the beginning. try to broaden your horizons and thought. think outside the box. or atleast near the edge

Folks, I truly believe that Christopher Walken would have been absolutely perfect as Han. Perfect! He has the tools, he has the talent! I think it's unfortunate that GL didn't cast Walken in the role. Really unfortunate. I would have enjoyed seeing Han Solo strutting about on the Millenium Falcon with a cigarette in hand - talk about true machismo! Don't you just love that NY accent of his? It's like nothing else! Don't get me wrong, Kurt is gruff and chiseled, but he is an insy bit too agressive for my tastes. At the end of the day, Harrison was quite effective - but I just would have loved to see Christopher chew on some scenery. Wouldn't that have been so much fun?

I would be willing to replace Aragorn, Han Solo, and any other male, heck, male OR female characters in ANY MOVIE EVER MADE with Christopher Walken.

Well, Walken was considered for the role, but the lack of a scenery-chewing monologue may have been the deciding factor in that case. Darn! I would have loved to have seen Christopher running about in that movie! He would have been just great.

Here's a little known screen test of some of the early auditions including Christopher Walken's. I'm not sure how those selections would have worked though, judge for yourself. ;)

I always wondered who that "mythical pre-Aragorn" was.
