I come before you, to sit behind you, to tell you a story I know nothing about. Last night at about 10:00 this morning an empty truck heavily laden with bricks ran over a dead cat and killed it. We slowly rushed the cat to the hospital and arrived just in time to see Arthur Godfrey sitting at the fourth corner of a round table eating brown vinegar with a paper fork made out of iron.

Also, yesterday morning in the middle of the night, two dead boys went out to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other. A deaf policeman heard the noise and went to rescue two dead boys. If you do not believe that my story is true, just ask the blind man cause he saw it too.

Oh come on, don't tell me I'm the only one who's heard these before. I didn't even make them up. The first one I learned from my uncle, the second one all my friends knew in grade school.

    I love them.

EDIT: If anyone knows any other similar poems and such, please share.

Reminds me of a poem i knew in junior school:

    One cold november morning,
    in september last july,
the moon lay thick upon the ground,
the snow shone in the sky,
    the flowers were siging gaily,
and the birds were in full bloom,
i went down to the cellar,
    to sweep the upstairs room!

It's almost as good as the one about.

The elephant being a pretty bird
Thats flits from bough to bough
It makes it home in a rubarb tree
    and whistles like a cow.

    Nonsense rhymes are fun!

A deaf policeman heard the noise and went to rescue two dead boys. If you do not believe that my story is true, just ask the blind man cause he saw it too.

    I heard it this way:

One dark night, the sun was shining bright. Two dead boys got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other. The deaf policeman hear the noice, went out to stop those two dead boys. If you don't believe this lie, it's true -- just ask the blind man; he saw it too.

    And then, of course:

As I was walking up the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

For a minute there, I thought you were clever in writing those.
